Absolutely gorgeous little hole in the wall sushi and ramen joint that's got a lot of character and a lot of amazing food. Price tags are appropriately high, but worth every penny. Highly recommend the yakisoba and gyoza!

We had our fourth visit today, and it was just as good as the last three times. My husband and I have eaten at many Japanese restaurants, including some high priced and highly reviewed places in the Twin Cities and Chicago, and the Woodland Zen House is better than any of them. Consistently from visit to visit, with each item we've tried.
They have a comfortable and casual atmosphere, but the food and service are phenomenal.
My favorite is the tempura sweet potato roll with their amazing chili sauce. I really doubted I'd like it with the chili sauce, but trust me... It's got incredible flavor and texture. Not spicy, just perfect.

It’s really hard to find a place that serves such a wide range of Japanese comfort food like this - sushi and ramen are fine but the curry and katsudon were outstanding and a steal for the price. Will definitely stop again next time we’re in town.

Viper (aka Joe) made the experience so enjoyable & offered such fantastic suggestions! This is such a hidden gem of a restaurant! Very reasonably priced, and the food was outstanding. Tempura vegetables & wasabi wontons are a MUST on the appetizer menu. Fried rice (spicy) is better than any fried rice I’ve had and the spicy teriyaki sauce is so delicious. HIGHLY recommended.
