Very high quality food and ambiance! The short ribs are the best I've had at any place like this. Such a high quality cut of meat like none other I've had. They are worth the vist themselves. Actually they looked so good I got excited and forgot to get a pic but trust me come try them out asap. Everything else we had was great too. We really loved all the options and appetizers that were avaliable. I also liked that they offered fried rice as well as white rice most places don't. All the way around this place is great we will be back.

Happy Day

Great food and good customer service. Will come back again!

Update: Changed to 4 stars. I drove 75mi to the restaurant today, but was turned away because they were closed early at 8pm. They didn’t post it on their website

Went here for the first time. It was a great experience. We had two kids with us and did the all you can eat. Fun for the kids. I put this in the same category as a Brazilian steakhouse. For $42.99, it's a better deal. All sides, apps, desserts and soda are included in that price, so it is a pretty good deal.

The cuts of meat were good, not the tough cuts you often get at other place. The service was good. Our waiter from prompt and friendly.

I will most certainly be coming back again. A great experience all around.

Wow, what a fun dining experience for our wedding anniversary. I was wondering how easy it would be to use the BBQ and get the meat just right, but it was super easy and the manager gave us a quick tutorial to get us started. The AYCE option was an excellent way to try several different things. We plan to return soon and sample our favorites again. Especially loved the dumplings, garlic shrimp, skirt steak, and asparagus -- all grilled to our personal liking, with plenty of sauce and dip. Forks and also chopsticks, whichever you prefer. Superb service and tasty food; can't wait to go back.

The food was great. The cook your own food was so much fun and made for a great experience with friends. Overall the service was ok. It seemed like it took a long time between stops from the server and at least twice our drink orders took far too long and turned out they were never put in, but overall we would definitely go back. I highly recommend give this place a try if you haven't.

Food was great, service was not, unfortunately. Waited too long every round as well as to just start eating (after we got seated. Asked to replace our hot plate, were promised 3 times and never got it done so we cooked on the dirty black hot plate with a taste. Other than that we liked the food.

Party of 2 for the ayce.
The server was polite but was not very interactive. The food was really bland. Most of the beef section tasted the same and was extra fatty or chewy. The garlic shrimp I had no idea there was even any garlic on it, the garlic shrimp had little sauce appearance when arrived as well. Some items were out of stock which was a bummer. Not much options for sauces, they give you 3 pre-made on a plate, 1 being a seasoning powder, 1 bbq sauce and 1 soy sauce mix. The stir fry udon I would say was the worst. It tasted like burnt sesame and the noodles seemed a bit starchy. I wish there would of also been a more flavorful and amount of sauce in the noodles. I really enjoyed the garden salad (great sauce) even though it did not have the same toppings as the website photo showing beans, yellow peppers, tomatoes and broccoli on it. While the pineapple was fresh not canned, it lacked juice and felt rather sitting out/ dried out. The calamari was pretty good though i wish there would of been more sauce options. Bone in ribs were very different to boneless. The bone in came attacked like a rack of uncooked ribs and was not as easy to cut as other meats however the boneless was a lot better as it was thinly sliced but again did not have a lot of flavor. The grill also needed to be replaced more frequently than other places we have gone. We also had to ask to replace it each time, even when it got really burnt looking. Overall wait time in between was fair but would of liked more check ins occasionally. Even with the food not being as flavorful as I would it, it was very clean in there and would probably go again in 6 months if we were near by but our favorite spot which is jpot, we go every other week usually.

We had a bad experience during our first visit because the service was very slow and inconsistent (Waited for 30mins just to order our second batch and server didn't even check in us). On our second visit, the service improved and was much better. However, during our third visit, we again had to wait around 20 minutes for our food. The service has been inconsistent overall, but the food is really great, especially the quality of the beef!

Gyu-Mai Japanese BBQ is a solid option in the Eden Prairie area. The restaurant is not in the most obvious location, but it gives people in the area another choice for Japanese-style BBQ.

The menu is similar to an all-you-can-eat concept, so I think expectations should be realistic. The food quality is generally average, not something I would call high-end or a must-try destination, but it is still enjoyable for what it is. I also tried the upgraded Wagyu option. The slices were quite thin, but it was nice to have that option available.

One thing I did like was their seasoning and dipping powder. The spicy powder for the meat was actually very good and added a lot of flavor.

Overall, I would say this is a place worth trying if you are nearby and want Japanese BBQ. It may not be perfect, but for the area, it is a good option.
