My Yelp participation has taken a long break during COVID-19 since my travel, restaurant visits and general going anywhere other than work is non-existent and not conducive to writing reviews. But last evening I decided to get out and try to live a little. A beautiful night and an Open Table patio reservation brought me to Salut, a Parasole themed restaurant in the Parisian Bistro genre. I last ate there many years ago and it disappointed but decided to give it a go hoping that things were different. They were. My party had a great outdoor patio table, appropriately distanced from others. I noted hand sanitizer available at the check in station, fastidious table wipe downs more consistent with a haz-mat cleanup, and servers all in masks. Kind of weird at night to have servers come up to you in the dark wearing masks. I thought I was getting robbed every time my water glass was refilled. Pandemic kidding aside, the service was as expected, pleasant, and they did not try to rush us away even though we closed the patio down. The menu is pared down but there is plenty to like. Vegetarians, Pescatarians and Carnivores alike can all find something and there is a wine list with perhaps 15 bottles represented, all at about 3.5x retail markup which is a little painful. House wines by the glass are about $8-9 and nondescript so you have no idea what you are actually getting. Never a good pick in my book. Truthfully, the food was ok and even borderline good. Frites a little soggy, Steak Hache' a little flavorless, the Pasta Cacio E Pepe was tasty but buttery (Cacio E Pepe classically does not have butter in it; Come to think of it, it actually isn't found in Paris either!), and the Hanger Steak slightly over done. But the compound butter on the steak and the Cacio E Pepe were tasty, and the star was the fresh baguette with butter and EVOO so there were some bright spots if the meal was being purely judged on food quality and taste. I think during normal times, I can understand the average 3.5 star rating that Salut carries but these are not normal times and frankly, I'm going to make an upward adjustment because of that. It gets all the stars from me on this visit for the following reasons: 1. It is open for business. Surviving a nearly 4 month shutdown during the most socially depressing period in modern history is remarkable so good for Salut!2. Their contribution to the social fabric of the community needs to be applauded. Simply giving people the option of coming out to break bread together and to see other people doing the same without fear or panic is huge and helps in leading society towards economic recovery and social healing. We need more of that as a human race. 3. The food was good, filling and tasty. Perhaps not great but nobody is expecting that when all technical norms have been ditched in favor of overly sanitized and socially distanced kitchens. Anyone that knows anything about food or how a real kitchen works knows that it is pretty tough to sling out greatness without touching anyone or anything else on the line other than the food while washing your hands every 6 seconds, etc. Under these conditions, Alpo would seem luxurious!4. They have an outdoor space! How refreshing to finally be somewhere other than at home and enjoy nice weather during an al fresco meal. Minnesota summer will be over before we know it and at least I can say I did not spend all of it in total interior lock down!5. Finally, the overall experience described above really is what gets them all the stars. Providing me with an opportunity to enjoy a meal out, even with restrictive conditions, made me look forward to where we are going as a planet and knowing that we will get through all of this and return to a more normal setting at some point. During this time, that experience was priceless. My recommendation is that if you have a chance, come here (or somewhere else like it in a neighborhood near you) and just sit outside and enjoy a plate of frites, a glass of wine, and a conversation. I promise that it is restorat

Came across this nice place as we were looking for food while walking around on this hot day.Looks like there's outside patio and inside table seating with limitations due to pandemic times. Looks like reservations are a must but they were able to get us in and we got to sit inside as requested as it was hot out. Staff and service was fast and friendly. The menu waslimited as they recently opened back up. We ordered some escargot along with some drinks. We order some filets with garlic butter and fries. All food came out quickly and were very delicious! Will definitely come back to try other items in the menu!

Second time here and came back for Valentines Day and it was great! I got the crab cake Oscar. At first when it came out I felt like it might not keep me full but looks are deceiving! It's very filling! I really like the Mac n cheese as well it has bacon bits in it which makes everything better. My boyfriend got the impossible burger and ended up really liking it! The french fries were the best very crispy and light! I love the overall ambience of Salut it's very cozy and intimate perfect for a date. My only small complaint was the wait since we had already made reservations in advance and still ended up waiting for a while. Overall, the service and food was great!

If you are looking for a chain like restaurant you can come here. Don't plan anything special here like valentines or anniversary. Very reduced menu and poor quality food ... like Applebee's overpriced. Absolutely nothing like the Saint Paul no frog legs or the duck. They burnt half of my meal ... sounds like no quality chef is on the kitchen just a standard cook . I would not waste your time here if you planning something nice. Oily plates and appetizers

This is an enjoyable place to go for dinner. There is not a great deal of variety on the menu but every item I have tried has been pretty good but not mind-blowing. However, the french onion soup is the most fantastic thing I have had here and is worth mentioning. The smoking cosmo is also a fun and tasty drink. I have actually gotten the best service at the bar, however, the table staff have also been pleasant.Depending on what you get, the prices are a little high for the quality of the food. Overall though, this is a dinner place worth trying and it is in a great location for some before or after dinner walking/shopping.

Wow - has this place gone down hill. When I'm in town, I usually enjoy eating here over the holidays ....but this visit was underwelming to say the least. I ordered a Cobb Salad that consisted of day old Iceberg Lettuce and leftover veggies and it was served with NO bread - for a french restaurant, I would think bread would be a staple on the table, but not this place!! And for $19, I would expect fresh lettuce and veggies in my Cobb Salad and a piece of bread. We ordered the Calamari, which was good, but only about 8 pieces of squid. The french fries consisted of a few long nice fries and the rest stubby dried bits of potato. I did enjoy the Opera Cake with fresh whipped cream. I don't think I will be returning to Salut in the future.

Salut is consistently good but never quite gets to the amazing for me, but I like it for the consistency, the size (fairly easy on a weeknight to get seated without reservation), and for little things like the inclusion of several non-alcoholic mocktails on the menu that make dining more fun while pregnant! I recently enjoyed the beet and burrata salad here, though the burrata was pretty cold and firm and could have been more room temperature to improve the texture. I really liked the moroccan slides that I had with my salad - it is a fairly small serving of two slides but was perfect for a less heavy meal option. My friend loved the French Onion soup with a caesar salad. I usually don't have room for dessert but they always have a lovely selection. The fries are also delicious!

Mom and I went here for a mother-daughter happy hour and arrived shortly after 4. Though they were doing a brisk business, we were seated right away. We opted to sit at the bar, which was certainly the right choice. Our bartender, Christian, was friendly and knowledgeable, and was truly a delight to chat with.Mom got the cocktail of the day, while I stuck with their brut rose. Both came from the happy hour menu. Mom enjoyed her drink, and I enjoyed my rose so much that I had two. (I enjoyed a good chat about rose and learned a good rule of thumb for choosing dry ones from Christian... definitely appreciated!)The cocktails on the menu were innovative, and I couldn't help but notice the beautiful selection of liquor that the bartenders were using. Their gin selection is particularly nice. (This isn't the kind of bar that has everything under the sun, but they do have a carefully curated selection of regional and international spirits.) The crowd is quite an assortment. There were 20-something sports fans, 30-something professionals, retirees, and everything in between. The environment is great for conversation and would be a good place to go solo. If you're in the 50th and France area, definitely Italy go there for happy hour! I'm looking forward to returning.

The food was good . We ordered herb roasted chicken and a chicken sandwich .They did not serve any kind of breads or olive oil to start with , which was a bit strange as it's a nice expensive restaurant .Must try .Was busy on a Saturday evening .

Great spot to sit on the patio on grand Avenue. The french fries with béarnaise sauce are very good, but beyond that nothing is beyond average. I enjoy this place but don't make an effort to get back there whenever I am in Minnesota, there are too many good places in the area.

Not quite sure why this place is rated lower than four stars. Thankfully I didn't let that deter me from trying what looking like a great menu. We entered the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess. She took us right to our reserved table for four. Our server, Oswaldo, cape directly over and greeted us. He was fantastic! Friendly and attentive. After he took our drink order another server came over and asked us for drinks. She seemed a bit confused when we told her we were already being helped. We were given a popcorn to munch on that was jalapeño flavored. Definitely not worth even serving. It was chewy and had very bland flavor. It seemed old and unnecessary. I'd rather have some nice baguette, which is on the menu as a paid appetizer. Might want to rethink that. The menu is great with a nice variety of options. We ordered a large Caesar salad to be shared as an appetizer which was perfect for four of us. The dressing was tangy and delicious and we loved the poached egg on top. I'd go back to have that for dinner with some grilled shrimp. Yum! Dinner was fantastic. We had the chicken paillard, seafood linguine, short rib pappardelle, and the steak frites. Loved the steak, cooked medium rare and served with a salty garlic butter. Ask for a side of the lemon aioli to dip your fries in. Delish! For dessert we had the salted caramel pot de creme. Also delish!Would we return? Yes! Do they have a few things to fix, sure, but definitely deserving of 4 stars!

Amazing as always. Such a lovely place to go for a few cocktails and light (or heavy) dinner. My favorite is the escargot, salut bleu salad and the French onion soup. I usually go with my mom and grandma for a nice happy hour or dinner and they both love to get a martini! Best escargot ever, and keep the bread coming! The waitstaff (our favorite is Jamie) is so professional and personal, and the hosts and bartenders are lovely as well. I always feel welcome here and it's my favorite place to go in Edina. Check this place out if you haven't been before. They also have a location in St. Paul that I've even to. In the summer, they have a lovely patio as well, but in the winter I love snuggling up in a red booth during the holiday season they have it beautifully decorated and it's the perfect place to escape the cold!

I had my first session with Catherine, and it was a great experience. She was very thorough in addressing all issues and concerns I had and answered all my questions. I left my session feeling relaxed and excited to continue treatment.

Salut can also mean goodbye in French and this is how I feel tonight about this place. We will not be back. The food is so under par, it's amazing. We ordered a cheese plate which came with two large slabs of cheese. A Blue cheese and some kind of over ripped Brie. My expectation is that the chef would put some work and attention to details on a plateau de Fromages, perhaps use some smaller portion and increase variety since It is so easy to find great French cheeses these days. That lack of attention to a basic dish usually tells me that there is an absence of passion. Then came the escargots which were swimming in oil. They throw some large slices of bread on the poor little treasured snails. By the time the dish hits your table, the bread is soaked in oil. May I suggest you drain the oil from this dish and drink it so you can see how I felt ?We sat next to two other tables and their waiter was so loud that I couldn't hear my wife across the table. I mean it was ridiculous. Perhaps he should try working at the Halles selling daily fresh food? No class-Salut has gone downhill and needs a serious wake up call. Until then we will not be back, Salut à vous e
