bacon cheeseburger was amazing. cheese was perfectly melted, bun was warm and each bite melted in my mouth. family fries filled all four of us! daughter loved the mint malt!
As with most of the reviews, I was glad to hear the convention grill had reopened.
Or service on Thursday night was good... there was a table for 5 available right away at 6:30pm.
The costs seem in-line with other burgers places... not as shoving as I had expected from other posts.
We had 5 meals, 3 full shakes (shared) , and a full order of fries with sour cream for around $110. With tax.
The staffing issues seem to be fixed, there were three people cooking 3-4 Watters/waitress and several more in back making malts, plus two managers and a host.
Earlier in the day, we found the Zagats survey restaurant guide from 1999/2000. (See pic) it seems not much has changed.
Parking: When we got there, the lot was full. But we found street parking.

Wow their prices are insane for what they offer. I think you can get a better burger from five guys for less. The food was fine but not worth the price. And they're homemade hot fudge is nice but I don't think it's that much better than any other hot fudge.
I ordered cheeseburger, side of fries, soda, and their hot fudge sundae. My total came to over $30 before tip.

Came in with a party of 4 for brunch on a Saturday. Place was packed, but we got a table relatively quickly. Service was efficient. Food was pretty average. This place is an institution, so I'm glad it's re-opened. Just don't expect to have your mind blown by the food.
Parking: They have a parking lot, amd there is plenty of street parking available.
Wheelchair accessibility: I'm in a wheelchair and didn't have any issues, although I can't speak to the accessibility of the bathroom.

We were so excited to go back to Convention Grill-- we missed it so much!
Nothing has changed a bit-- we each had a hamburger and we split a malt
Our waitress was fabulous!
It was so busy and loud with positive energy-- great to be back!

I was so excited to take my family for lunch to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. My son has airborne anaphylactic allergies to shellfish and fish, Anaphylactic to nuts, tree nuts and allergic to cows milk protein. Needless to say we rarely go out. I spoke to manager and confirmed no shellfish or fish. He just wanted hamburger and fries we bring our own bun. She said if we are busy it would be hard . I stated it would be too hard for you to clean the grill and use clean utensils. Well she said we can’t shut the grill down and we only have one turner for burgers.
I explained it is one small area. Clearly she had no desire to serve my allergy family.
How sad!

Just want to say this was always a fantastic, rightfully beloved historic diner. The reopening news has excited a lot of people. I am sure they have been getting slammed at times, and with a largely brand new staff. Be patient and let them get in the swing of things. And by the way the prices don’t look so unreasonable either. Look at what’s been done to The Malt Shop over at 50th & Bryant and be grateful they kept Convention Grill the way it was.
Staff was great amount of food was good. Issue i had were overly crispy fries that had no seasoning at all. 4 of us and nobody could eat the fries for how hard they were unless you soaked them in ketchup. But it was a business meeting and nobody wanted to say anything.
