Fried chicken sandwich was over cooked very dry. Walleye tacos had more avocado than fish.Definitely overpriced for the quality of the entrees.

Nice restaurant with a cozy vibe. Went for Valentine’s Day and got a reservation a week prior with no problem. Food was good but came out warm vs fresh/hot. Not sure if that was because it was a busy night but was expecting more for the pre we paid. Would give them another shot in the future on a less busy night.

This place is popular for lunch. My husband and I went there for lunch date. The food is ok. But this place is overpriced. I rather go to other places in downtown excelsior than this place.

We went to Coalition on a recent Saturday, and our experience was… weird. The night was very cold, so the restaurant was subdued and about one third full when we arrived for our 8:00p reservation. The food was fine and service was ok. What made things weird, though, was this: a bit before 8:45, and before we finished our meal, the lights suddenly went up and the staff started cleaning tables and sweeping the space as though they were closing the restaurant. (The Saturday close time listed on Google and Coalition’s site is 10p.) Granted, no one asked us to leave. But this isn’t what we expect when we pay $200 for a two person dinner, and it turned a fun night into a bad experience.

This was an ok experience. Service was the bright spot. The food was pretty average, I expected more but despite the server's recommendation it was fairly bland. Environment was a real turn off - it was excessively loud and high top seating uncomfortable. Again, ok but not stellar.

I have no idea why there’s mediocre reviews of this place because I absolutely love it! Been here several times and the food and service is always top notch. I was in tonight with my parents and we got the burger, salad, green beans, and the salmon. Everything was delicious. I love their cocktails too! Perfect date spot imo. Will be back every time I’m in town!

My daughter and I had a very nice lunch at Coalition. We started with the Prickly Pear Margaritas and they are highly recommended by the both of us. Great flavor and just the right balance. It was my first time at Coalition and I selected the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Brie and fig jam. It was very good. My daughter has been here before and ordered her usual Poke Bowl. We had the Chocolate Torte for dessert. She loved it but I thought it was just ok. Service by Terra was excellent.

Split the walleye and Brie salad, the flavors on both really stood out and the walleye was cooked perfectly. One person in our group ordered the salmon and I thought it looked like it was overcooked, but it actually just had a nice char and was cooked perfectly on the inside. The cauliflower also had great flavor and everyone loved it, even the person that usually doesn't love cauliflower. We ordered a chocolate something for desert, I don't really care for sweets, but tried it and it too was very good. Our server was excellent and they corked our bottle of wine for $25. The dining area was cozy and nice. I also thought the prices were reasonable for what you got.

Heed the advice of other reviews and choose elsewhere for your money and meal. Not one person in our party of 8 was satisfied. Several meals came to the table cold. Overall the quality of the dinner was largely disappointing, especially given the upscale pricing. And by all means necessary, do not order the steak sandwich. It was tough and chewy, to the point of being inedible. Two stars are solely for the service and vibe. If you're not going to eat, this would be viable option.

This is my third visit to Coalition in Excelsior. It was a Wednesday evening with 5:30 reservations for two of us. I felt that our server paid very little attention to us once he found out we were having drinks and a appetizer. I am also very tired of restaurants adding upcharges. Coalition adds 4% for "Wellness". What the heck? We just paid $50 for two drinks and an appetizer so I think this should cover any "wellness" needs.
