Good music and fun atmosphere
Another frustrating visit to Excelsior Brewing last night. We go to breweries specifically for live music. Excelsior insists on cramming a large band and their potential fans into the small entry room where everyone going in and out walks in front of the stage and seating is very limited for the bands they hire. I really wish they would move the stage into the much larger back room so more people could enjoy it. We had one beer and went to Boom Island Brewing for a more relaxed seating experience. Also, the city of Excelsior seems to be discouraging visitors with their paid street parking. Since the large lot behind the brewery is usually full when we get there I end up walking half a mile from the closest free parking spot I can find. I don't think I'll be driving way out there for a while.
Delicious beer, no food aside from light snacks but you can bring your own or get Uber eats. Nice atmosphere friendly service.
My husband and I came from Ohio to celebrate his birthday and we had some time to kill before attending Paisley Park for our tour. So we stopped at this establishment and the staff and the people in the area were friendly. As for the brew I'm not a beer drinker but I did try the Rosé seltzer and it was really good. Hubby and I definitely had a great experience!
Critical Mass at Excelsior Brewing Co. tonight, brought the house down. Amazing cover band. You guys rock ?
Great brewery in a cool town with friendly staff. The Bourbon barrel aged stout was delicious.[Update 2024] This place has a great ambience but I struggle to find a beer that I like. It tastes ok at the counter but a pint doesn't finish well.
Excellent, great brew ? thanks for noticing that I forgot my phone... much appreciated ❤
Great Beer. Fun Atmosphere!
Was there for a fundraising pub crawl. Staff was great. Fun little place. Not a beer guy, but they had a hard seltzer beer I could take that was good. If you are a craft beer guy, give it a shot. Several beers on tap and they also had some kind of "beer to go" thing that I glanced at, but was beers on cans.
Noticed a new sign that was hung up reading something like, “This taproom is not a playground. Please keep your kids and dogs with you at all times” (kids and dogs being underlined). While I understand that you don’t want kids running around the brewery, I immediately thought of my 20 month old toddler who has a hard time sitting still and wants to explore any new area. This sign made me feel embarrassed about bringing him to the brewery and worried staff members would make comments about it. The other aspect of putting dogs and kids under the same category also rubbed me the wrong way - kids are humans too lol.
If the brewery is really worried about kids ruining the vibe, maybe provide a little kid friendly corner? Or make it 21+ like wicked wort.
To me, the sign came off as passive aggressive. No hate here, I still absolutely love the brewery, but wanted to share my thoughts about both the wording and the initial reaction to the post. Thanks❤️

Excelsior Brewing is now one of the best breweries in the twin cities. I used to think their beers were just ok, but they have seriously stepped up their game in the past couple of years. The strawberry cream ale, spiced dark ale (can’t remember the exact name!) and their s’mores beer are unique and tasty. Their location in excelsior is great and their trivia night on Thursdays is super fun. Don’t always head to Minneapolis for great beer- Excelsior is where it’s at!!!!
Acoustic Tuesday is a treat!
Excellent attention and spectacular music.
You know the beer is good but the past few times I have been the staff has been very rude and unwelcoming. We were there from 4pm-6:30pm on a Saturday- pretty bare and we had our kiddos with us. The amount of dirty looks and rude comments about our kids was crazy. Will not be back. Felt unwelcome with our littles and got confronted about having them play and dance to music. If you are looking for a family friend fly place- this isn’t it. It’s too bad.
great beer selection & good live music
