Honestly our experience couldn't have been better. We arrived early and were offered complimentary Prosecco while we waited. A small thing, but a nice touch. Old fashioned was a 10. Food was inventive, aesthetic and cooked to perfection. Server was attentive and informed. Really nice job to all involved!

Holy cow! Get the johnny cake! It was recommended, and it was amazing.

It sounds so funny ordering a cornmeal pancake with butter and syrup, but it was incredible!!!

Get tips from the server and listen to them. We did, and it did not disappoint.

The only thing that did was their Caesar salad. I should have listened to the server because he said it was "Uh, okay," and it really wasn't even okay because it didn't have Caesar Dressing. Don't order it.

All the rest of our meals were fantastic! ??

Parking: Parking was not good. It was street parking and you had to have an app and pay for it on an app, and it was expensive! That is the one reason I won't be back.

Layline has such incredible food and service. We had an incredible time having an anniversary breakfast there recently. The staff was so kind and the food was so so good. I got an email a few days later asking for feedback and I included a small issue I had while there, and management went above and beyond to address the issue. I was already planning on going back, but I am more confident than ever in that decision. I am so excited to try their dinner menu now! Also please try the caramel roll. Its to die for.

Not much for substitutions with breakfast. Asked for hash browns instead of breakfast potatoes and was denied. Overall a good spot though.

Make a reservation, they will turn you away with an empty restaurant because reservations may have been made.

Was noisy and tables are closer together and we sat in a corner so it was quite distracting for atmosphere. Food and service were excellent, more than 5 stars, we will definitely be back whenever we are on the west side.

Love this place! We’ve highly enjoyed everything we’ve tried. This time we got the Johnny Cake on a whim, and were so impressed! We’ve had the Tuna Crudo multiple times, as well as the Lobster Roll, Burger, and Chicken Sandwich. All excellent! Do give yourself extra time to find parking - this is the only negative, and goes for all restaurants in Excelsior, unfortunately.

It was our first time there and celebrating a special occasion. A reservation was made well in advance with a request for a table in a quieter location. We arrived and we were promptly directed to a table that was in the middle of a bench seating space with occupied tables on either side. I asked for a new table location which we were given and it was in a corner. It was a much more desirable location. The table we were originally given was never seated the remainder of the evening. The restaurant itself is very clean with little noise abatement. If you are seated in the porch and the sun has gone down, it is quite dark. The indoor dining is very well lit. The wine menu for individual glasses is quite restricted in the varietals offered, and the overall dinner menu is also very limited. My husband ordered a classic caesar salad and the salad that was brought to the table looked like a large garden salad with cucumbers, bits of shredded carrots, dressed with caesar dressing and covered in shredded parmesan cheese that tasted like it came out of the green can you buy at the grocery store. There was no flavor to the cheese. The carbonara was lacking in flavor. The pancetta was very dry but the egg was cooked perfectly. The pork chop, although cooked perfectly and was juicy, was so salty that I couldn't taste anything else. For the price point of the restaurant, one should expect a higher quality of flavors coming out of the kitchen. From the moment they tried to squeeze us into a crowded space and seemingly ignoring all of the information shared in our reservation to the disappointing drink and food menu options to the quality of the food, we will likely not be returning. It's too bad because we like supporting our local restaurants.

Very modern dining experience. Unique and delicious cocktails with a well cultivated menu of interesting sharables and entrées. Would absolutely recommend a trip to Leylines if you're in the area.

I had a really poor experience with the service. Although the food was acceptable, the service was so disappointing that it would deter me from returning, even if the food were exceptional.

Just a delightful little place. There is a 4 season patio, and an outdoor patio. Dogs are welcomed.
Oscar is a great server.
One note. If you are looking for a traditional food, check out the menu online before you go. The pancakes were fantastic.

We went to Layline for breakfast this morning and absolutely loved it! The service was fantastic- we had mistakenly placed a reservation for the wrong time and they were still able to make it work for us. We got the mushroom omelette, the breakfast potatoes, and the hashbrowns! The hashbrowns are a bit lemony which was surprising but delicious, and the omelette was super flavorful and unique. We definitely are looking forward to making this place a regular stop for our family.

We had dinner at Layline on a Friday night, and likely will not go back. The food and drinks were fine. Nothing stood out as being exceptional. The Johnny Cake was the closest thing to a stand out, but it also has the lowest difficulty level on the menu.

The biggest problem was the service. From the moment we sat down, our server made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. She made snide remarks about the table set up, making us seem like we shouldn’t be sitting where we were. Of course, we had nothing to do with where the host sat us. She also didn’t seem to know the drinks menu, again making odd remarks about the management not sharing a supposed menu update to explain why she didn’t know something was on the menu. However, despite her claim of a same day menu update, she told us certain things were out—which doesn’t make sense if the menu was printed that day.

Ultimately, even looking past the service issues, the food and drinks were not good enough to justify the prices. And remember, like so many restaurants, the price on the menu is not the final price—there’s a 4.95% service charge. Excelsior lacks a restaurant exactly like Layline, but I’ve been much more satisfied at almost every other establishment in Excelsior. I was hoping for more, because I loved seeing an old auto shop turned into something vibrant, but Layline misses the mark.
