Amazing sushi. Surprisingly the steak is great too. The best in town. The hot knight roll and others are exquisite and the service is phenomenal.

One of our favorite neighborhood spots, the longtime employees make the experience great. Suggest it’s time to upgrade their glassware. For the prices they charge for their Javanese whiskey, I would expect a nice glass to drink from.
Great sushi and staff!! Nice evening.

Yumi Sushi Bar in Excelsior, MN – A Delightful Family Experience
We recently dined at Yumi, a sushi restaurant in Excelsior, Minnesota, owned by Innerbloom Hospitality, run by my friend Aaron Switz. I had the pleasure of celebrating my wife’s birthday there, along with our 3-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Benedetta. What stood out the most was not only the exceptional quality of the sushi but also the outstanding hospitality from Keo, a staff member who truly enhances the dining experience.
From the moment we walked in, Keo greeted us warmly, remembered our names, and was incredibly kind to Benedetta, who refers to sushi as “shushi.” The personal touch Keo added, such as providing Benedetta with chopstick cheaters to help her enjoy the meal, made the evening special. The sushi itself was top-notch, as always. We enjoyed the Regular Sashimi Platter, which featured five types of fresh fish, including maguro, sake, hamachi, escolar, and a chef’s choice, served with miso soup and rice. Alongside the sushi, we ordered the Calamari (tempura squid served with a special sauce) and the Beef Kushiyaki Skewers (grilled ribeye with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds). Every dish was fresh and flavorful.
I’ve eaten sushi in many places, from downtown Minneapolis at Billy Sushi and Kado no Mise, to locations out of state, and Yumi’s sushi consistently impresses. If you’re ever in Excelsior, a charming and quaint town, I highly recommend stopping by Yumi for an authentic and warm sushi experience. The restaurant has become one of our go-to places for a reason—it’s not just about the food, it’s about the people, especially Keo, who makes it feel like home.
A very happy raw fish devourer,

I love the rolls at Yumi’s. The service however is hit or miss. We’ve had great service and we’ve also had really terrible service. We had a really bad server the last time we went so now we opt for takeout if we are craving Yumi’s.

We have come to this restaurant for years, several occasions. And it’s so sad and frustrating when you are paying for something you have been eating for years and that you know how it taste and look, and when we try to express our Dissatisfaction about the food, the server just put couple of excuses. Believe me, we will not come again ( Excelsior).
Edina, my total respect on service, food. EVERYTHING.

A terrible experience. My wife and I have been eating at the Edina restaurant for years and it has been simply delicious and the service exceptional. It was our second time at this Excelsior restaurant and it was terrible. They gave us a tempura rock shrimp, without tempura. When we said that the shrimp were not tempura, their response was that all the cooks cook differently. And that at this location they don't have tempura rock shrimp. They are not tempura. They are just cooked and placed on a bed of lettuce. The kitchen staff responded disrespectfully and rudely to my request. This being one of our favorite dishes at this restaurant and knowing it very well. Unfortunately, an experience that will keep us away from this restaurant without a doubt.

Guys you are the best in Twin Cities' area. Thank you for a lot of surprises, and wonderful food and time for my mother's 70th birthday.

Xeo served our table of eight tonight. It was a special event and she made it even more special. The drinks (sake flight), the appetizers (tuna, calamari, edamame), salmon and all the various sushi rolls were all incredible. The mochi topped off a perfect night. We cannot wait to go back. I see why you busy on a Sunday night!Thank you
I had a great experience at Yumi’s Restaurant, where we tried the Hot Knight and Double Dragon from their specialties, both of which I really enjoyed. We also had the Philly roll from their classics, which was good, and the crispy rice tuna, which was a delightful first for me. This was only my second time trying sushi, and after a disappointing first experience elsewhere, Yumi’s has restored my hope in sushi.
However, the service could use some improvement. One of the servers, who handled seating and water, was a bit careless. When the soy sauce pot spilled on our table, he simply said it was fine without cleaning it up. Additionally, we asked for a high chair for the baby, but he forgot to bring it.

If you love tough, chewy, overpriced sushi this is the place for you. This could easily be the worst sushi I've had in a long time. I've been coming here for well over 20 years and this was the worst experience I have had at any sushi restaurant. We told the waitress how bad the sushi was and all we got was a sorry. I will not be going back.

Always a great experience. Service is good, but can be slow if you visit on a busy night (not their fault, just busy). Food is amazing, I love their freshwater eel fried roll.
Kid-friendliness: Wait staff is ready with boosters, high chairs, kids menu, and kid chopstick trainers
Wheelchair accessibility: If you park in the rear there is a wheelchair friendly entrance and ramp.

Service has declined over the years and they now have an additional charge for service on their bills automatically.

Excellent sushi. Very generous roll sizes. Chicken Fried rice was a bit soy sauce heavy. Yakisoba noodles are very sweet for my taste, but still delightful.
