If I could give a 0 star review, I would. We had a reservation last night for a large party. When we arrived at 6:30 pm, it was completely closed. The lights were off, doors locked, no sign, and no employees. No one called to inform us that they would not be open so we could make other plans. It was very disappointing and frustrating, not to mention incredibly inconsiderate. I absolutely will not come back for another visit after this experience.

I never thought I’d be writing a negative review about Carboni’s in Forest Lake.
This place has been a staple for my family since the late 70s or early 80s. I’ve personally been eating this pizza for about 45 years—easily hundreds, if not a thousand orders. The pizza itself has always been great. It’s what I grew up on, and honestly, that hasn’t changed.
The service has always been a bit awkward, especially when dining in, but I never let that bother me. Mistakes happen—wrong toppings, missing items here and there—but when you’ve been ordering from a place for decades, you understand that comes with the volume.
What happened last weekend, though, completely blew my mind.
We ordered pizza for pickup while running errands in town. We arrived about 10 minutes early and decided we’d rather just dine in. We explained multiple times that they wouldn’t need to do anything extra—we’d eat it straight out of the box, order a couple of sodas, and tip accordingly.
They flat-out refused.
No explanation that made sense, no flexibility, just “no.” We were told they couldn’t change the order, even though the pizza was already being made and we were literally standing inside the restaurant ready to spend more money.
So instead of letting paying customers sit down and eat, they chose to lose the sale entirely. We walked out, and they’d rather eat the cost of two pizzas than allow us to dine in.
After 45 years of loyalty, that kind of rigid, customer-unfriendly decision is incredibly disappointing. I still love the pizza—but this experience seriously changed how I feel about supporting this location

I really liked this Carbones...warm inside ( from being outside, the room temp was perfect !) fast service, hot food served promptly in time, they had a family dining side, and a bar side too, nice atmosphere, looking forward to going again! Thanks!

I grew up eating this pizza and fantasize about it because I moved out of state.
Every time I come home to visit I get Carbones, and it just brings back all the memories. I truly don’t think there is better pizza anywhere. I literally bring home 10 pizzas in my suitcase and freeze them so that I can eat it throughout the year because I cannot live without it.

I have been going Here for many year as well as my whole family . Has always been great up until this year 3 times now I have ordered pizza and had the burnt and black ! Going to have to give up on this location ! Staff did not say sorry just ya that happens they are cooked on a stone ! I mean 40 dollars for 2 pizza and and hour wait dominos has better quality! Very disappointed!
