Small town with simple food options. This reminds you of what grandma makes when you come to visit. Sandwiches and chips. The homemade pie is the best, not overly sweet and very fresh. Ice cream is a good size for the price.

This place was really disgusting and disappointing. The mushroom and Swiss burger was a greasy, mayonnaise drowned mess that was very unappetizing. The side was some cheap old Dutch chips - okay. The kitchen staff looked like a bunch of recently released convicts; I know, don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but the disgusting food warrants it to a degree. And a larger point was that this whole town had a very bad vibe to it, the crusty old locals all giving my family dirty looks simply for being there. I love small towns, but not this place. Hard pass.

Best pizza I have had in years. Thank goodness no weird spices like one reviewer likes. Just all tasty ingredients that come together to make an excellent pizza. Friendly helpful staff and great service.

Ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The meat tasted fine but only had about a spoonful on a mediocre white bun. Served with stale ruffles potato chips, barbecue sauce and pickles on the side. Ordered strawberry rhubarb pie but had to request forks. There were two of us, ordered the same sandwich. One came, then we waited about 10 minutes for the second person's food. The pie was cold so took it home and heated it up. Much better. Would I eat there again? Probably not. 7.75 for a spoonful of pork on a wonder bread bun and stale potato chips? The pie was 5 bucks a slice..... Not impressed.

Riding the Root River trail for 12 miles we arrived at the Village Square ready for coffee and pie. They just opened at 11:00 and four tables of locals had already placed their order for the daily special. More came in and there were several to go orders whine we were there. The young gal serving everyone with a smile was wonderful. The coffee was good and the strawberry rhubarb pies was delicious! By the way, the wooden chairs had comfy seat cushions that were greatly appreciated by this cyclist. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend it.

Very nice young lady greeted us at the counter. She helped with answering questions and recommending pies. We got coconut cream and peach pies. Outstanding, fresh and delicious. We will be returning to try others.

This was our 1st visit. The place was very clean, someone could say slightly dated. We thought it was just fine. The pizzas we ordered were very good. The pies were fabulous! Looking forward to our next visit. The staff ( younger) were very polite and friendly.

A convenient local hangout for pizza and ice cream. Glad we saw the sign out on the highway as we wended our way home and could grab a quick bite before they closed.

Parking: Small town, broad Main Street, so there was plenty of on-street parking. In the early evening.

Kid-friendliness: Ice cream and pizza. Need I say more?

Small, simple, very welcoming, and the best pie anywhere around – even at other places with larger and newer facilities. It is easy to get to, located right on the main thoroughfare in the Fountain, MN community. Once, we had biked uphill from Lanesboro, MN, on a defunct tandeum bike and were so exhausted that we wondered if we had the strength to return to our hotel. This is when we first discovered Village Square pie – it was like a godsend! So while we may have been happy with “average” food, we were amazed at how good it was, especially the blueberry pie with ice cream. On each visit, the staff demonstrates how personally invested they are in providing the best dining experience that they can offer to guests.During COVID alerts, when outside adventures were our go-to, we found they were dedicated to following the CDC’s guidance. We’ve had their house salad, sub sandwiches, baked chicken, and always, ALWAYS, pie!!!Local residents flow in and seem to be strong supporters. Families dine here with their children and seem to have a great time talking table to table. Entire tables were ordering soup and pizzas – so they must be tasty and satisfying. It’s worth a drive if you are anywhere in the area. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, and we enjoyed the journey there as well. The restaurant is clean with homey furnishings, and the staff waiting tables have been consistently friendly and polite. It is family owned and operated; we were privileged to hear their story first-hand.

Absolutely the best strawberry rhubarb pie we have ever had anywhere! I’m sure the other pies are also delicious, but the strawberry rhubarb is amazing.
