FANTABULOUS Service and the Food! Great Historical Gem in a small MN town. Highly recommend this Cafe. Delicious!!

Kid-friendliness: "If eat all of your pancake, then you can get a cupcake.." the owner said to the little boy. He did eat his pancake and got his cupcake. I chuckled and said this is why I love little cafes like this. Cheers!

Wheelchair accessibility: There is plenty of room for a wheelchair to get around inside the Cafe.

My sister and I are traveling and stopped in to this small town restaurant. The hospitality of the staff was above and beyond with smiles and stories about the town. Explaining the history of the town with all the memorabilia inside the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the prices of meals is even better. Highly recommend this restaurant from food to the hospitality, top notch!!

Best small town cafe I know. Food is always good but if you are there when they serve clam chowder or chicken wild rice soup, you're in for a treat.

This hole in the wall has good food. On Sunday, all the historic palace cage serves is breakfast all day long.

We meet the owner. When you stop in, ask her for the story of why this historic palace cage is historic. You won't be disappointed.

The interior is wall to wall pictures of the local history. But while that's awesome, it's not the reason the historic palace cave is historic.

Last year my family spent a long weekend in Frazee. We were in the store right next to The Palace Cafe and two people came in with banana cream pie slices. My father quickly walked over to get himself a slice and unfortunately they were sold out. This year our family spent a long weekend in Detroit Lakes and my parents and I stopped in to see if we could get a banana cream pie. My dad was so excited about this pie he brought bananas to ensure he was able to get a pie. The owners had a good laugh and then ensured he’d have his pie by the next day. We went back the following day and were not disappointed. The pie was fabulous, lived up to the hype my dad had built in his head and made his trip. Thank you so much for the great service. If we’re ever in the area we’ll be stopping in for a meal.

They only serve breakfast items on Sundays. Absolutely ridiculous. Take some time and drive the extra miles to Perham, Minnesota and go to Lakes Cafe where you can get lunch and breakfast anytime that the place is open.
Update: I'll be sure to leave $5 today for the apple juice. 7/28/24 Update2: left $5 with the gal at the counter, posted in pic.

Stopped in for lunch. We each had a burger ? they were both excellent!
But even more important than the food, the service was great. I watched an elderly lady stand up from her table and begin to make her way to the restroom. One of the waitresses stopped what she was doing, went to help this dear lady to the restroom and waited to get her back to the table. This kindness and compassion is something you only see in a small town! Hats off the The Palace Cafe! We will return with friends!!!!

Forgot my wallet for a pickup order and the sweet gal that helped me checkout went above and beyond to take care of me without batting an eye. Food was great, too!

Stopped in on a whim and it was fantastic. Had the lunch special of grilled cheese and a cup of chili. Best grilled cheese I think I have ever had, perfectly crispy, buttery and just the right amount of cheese. The chili was perfect, not watery, good flavor. The real delight was the piece of pie I got to take home. I ate half of it before I made it back to ND. It was cookies and cream, the size of my head and delicious. I keep thinking about that pie. I have been telling everyone about this place and hope they all go to eat there. I know I will again.
I went back and had more pie. It is so good that if I was a death row inmate it would be requested for my last meal.
