We had made reservations to celebrate an anniversary while we were traveling in the area. Never having been there before I inquired if they might be able to reserve us a window table to be able to enjoy the lake view. The person who handled the reservation said he couldn’t promise a specific table but would make a note of my request being we were celebrating a special occasion. When we arrived the restaurant was packed with guests and others constantly coming in and this was a Wednesday night. We were so happy we made a reservation and even happier when we were told to just wait a bit and then we were given the first open table by a window. The menu had a wide variety of offerings, both apps, salads, entrees and desserts along with an extensive cocktail/wine list. Salad or soup along with a side were included with entrees. Food was delicious and came in a timely manner, waitress was very busy but checked on us often. My only disappointment was I ordered my steak with the Oscar topping and while it was tasty there was very little sauce or crab meat on it. This will be our go to stop however when we are in the area again. We used to frequent the Fireside when in Detroit Lakes until their prices went sky high and salads and sides are now no longer included in their dinner selections but need to be ordered separately at an additional cost. Also their menu is quite limited and never varies. Thanks for a fine dining experience Spankys.

The food is absolutely 5 star every time. But the atmosphere on a Saturday night in the summer can be awful. So make a reservation and ask for a table outside or in the side room. Wait at the bar if needed. Trust me. On our visit there was a 10 person table in the center of the open dining room that was drunk and LOUD. Which made the tables around them almost yell to be heard. Ruined the evening. The bathroom was the only oasis of peace. We had the ribeye and the filet which were perfect. The bread basket contains the best croissants I’ve ever had with silky smooth whipped butter.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate a very special wedding anniversary. We were seated at a nice table with a window overlooking the lake. It was perfect. The food did not disappoint. It was delicious and large servings, however when we asked a question about the confusing menu prices the server asked the manager to talk to us and she was very rude. It may have been because they were very busy but for that reason we will not be returning to this restaurant again.

We've only been once since we moved to the area but the waitress was so helpful with suggestions, food was delicious!
Spanky's catered our son's wedding at our home and boy did they bring it BIG! The food came out HOT, everything was so delicious. I so wish I had taken a picture of the stuffed chicken breast entree served with au gratin potatoes and green beans. I know everyone at my table was like, WOW! They were on time, staff was so friendly, so great to work with. We highly recommend them, and we'd love to hire them again in the future!
