We stopped to pick up some rolls and cookies for a brunch...and bought 1 extra caramel roll to go for my 87 year old mom...the server was going to put it in a bag, I asked if they had a container, which he kindly found(better for transport) just got it home and 1/3 of the roll is not there!! C'mon Tobies!!! We just spent $70 and you give us part of a caramel roll??
I didn't think we had to check each item before leaving. Very sad. I remember these rolls being just HUGE when we used to stop.
Disappointed to say the least!!

This place is an institution. I hadn’t been here in years and was glad to see it was still in business, and had even expanded. The parking lot is a bit of an adventure, but there was room for our whole group to park. We had 9 people and it only look then about 10 minutes to seat us on a Sunday. We were there for brunch. It was a busy place, so service was a little slow but not too bad. The newer bar area looked nice, and there were several vegetarian options to choose from. The vegan in our group had fewer choices but did eventually get the black bean burger. They accommodated our food needs with no issues. The food (especially the cinnamon roll, and several people gave the fish breakfast (walleye, I think?) rave reviews) was fantastic. I’d highly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch if you’re in the Hinckley area.

$16 for a small, paper-thin dried out burger! I would not recommend.

We stopped in for a couple donuts to go. They were delicious. One of the best donuts we've had in a while. We got the Bavarian cream filled donuts and a classic chocolate sprinkle. Donuts were light and fluffy. Chocolate glaze was great. Not sticky, perfectly tempered. Each donut was only $2.50. So glad we stopped.

From 1986-1992, Tobie's was a weekend ritual to & from a cabin N of Two Harbors. Stopped again on a return from a week's stay at Grand Marie. Still fabulous carmel rolls.

Tobias has the best pastries in Minnesota. If you ever get around or close to the area don't pass up the chance to stop in.

Been going there for YEARS. Always good food, price, service, except this time. WOW, how do you go from that to never going there again. Everything fine till we got the food, kinda. Ordered from one person, delivered by another, forgot large milk, large milk came in a 8 ounce glass, that's a large I asked, yup. The Damm water glasses are twice that size. Original order taker walks by, "how is everything" my response, "well so far so good I guess" we hadn't even started on the food yet. Hash browns browned on the outside Luke warm inside, should've been cooked longer. Biscuits and gravey absolutely terrible, sausage in gravy was very little no taste, gravy was opaque and separated and no taste. My sons sausage links? Same thing, no seasoning no flavor. Neither of us finished our meals including my grandson on his 3rd birthday. We sat and waited for the check, silverware, napkins on the plates, empty glasses, no check. People piling up waiting to be seated, still no check. We got up, walked to the desk, NOPE, gotta wait for the waiter to bring the check. Another waiter went and tracked the guy downthat came minutes later, he's lucky I left him a tip at all. Like I said, NEVER AGAIN, TOBIES, NEVER AGAIN.
