It's decent food but DATED..... we go here just because we know the service is decent and food is okay. Nothing is awful or bad and the price is what you'd expect going out to eat.

If you like bland food with no flavor, this is the spot for you. They have done a lot of remodeling and the interior looks really nice. However the food does not match the ambiance. We had a table of three and ordered: corn beef hash, caramel rolls, classic breakfast, breakfast sandwich, and French toast. Everything was so flavorless, I felt like I wasn't even eating food from an established restaurant. Never coming here again. Super unfortunate this is the only place in the area.

I and my wife were making a day trip to Duluth on Tuesday April 9th we turned off at the exit where Tobies restaurant is pulled in lots of people there walking back and fourth one older man was swearing I didn't think to much of it but I was soon to find out the reason why! The doors to the restaurant were locked no sign for reason it was closed! hours sign said open 7am to 12am we tried 3 different doors nothing open all locked! We saw some people sitting outside so I asked them what was going on, they said Tobies is closed on Tuesdays I couldn't believe it no sign stating they were closed that day! what kind of business would do that not informing there customers they are closed I don't get it! a lot of people pulled in from the freeway for nothing! shame on Tobies management!

Stopped by as tradition states on the way to Duluth. Bought 4 goodies to share with the group. Our favorite was the raspberry Bismarck. We got in later, after 2, and they still had a fresh batch of the pecan rolls!

For the price of the food it's below average for a sit and dine restaurant it's a flip of the coin to see if you'll actually get your food or not most of the time you'll get your food after your group is ready to save happened to me several times which is sad since I've been there so often the service is not good either unless you get specific people at certain times of the day I recommend going somewhere else for better food and service if you want drinks then yes that's the only reason to actually go if you still wanna go eat at this place go and sit down and eat in the bakery area not the bar that's where the bad service is at.....

Very bland food, decent service. Was sat behind a big bush, unsure if that was Intentional or discriminatory but I stayed

Food was excellent and service as well. However they charge 3.5% fee if you use credit card. We usually leave 20-25%. At Tobies we left 20-3.5% 16.5%. They should know that their server paid the surcharge. I thought they were a successful business. Guess they're on the edge.

Ben was awesome server!! Food was excellent as well!! Will definitely be back! Had onion rings to start followed by the Bourbon Brisket Burger. Wonderful meal. Please ignore my first posting with only 2 stars: that was an obvious mistake!

There are some establishments where splitting the rating on Yelp would make sense. An example is Tobies. There is the bakery and there is the restaurant, Many people never set foot in the restaurant but come for the sugary goodness that is sold at the bakery. We are among those who have not been in the restaurant but definitely are addicted to the yummies behind the glass display in the bakery. This 5 star rating is for the bakery. We were on the road headed up to the Boundry Waters area near Ely, Minnesota and stopped in at Tobies for a little fuel for the road. Too many delectable items to choose from but we narrowed down our initial inclination of "one of each" to something a little more reasonable. We chose a Caramel Roll, a Frosted Cinnamon Roll, an Apple.Fritter, a Maple.Covered Fried Cinnamon Roll, and a Blueberry Bismark. All of these were fantastic. We loved the caramel roll with its signature cinnamon sugar rolled up in a wonderful swirl and topped with tasty caramel. The apple fritter was sweet with a crispy outside and a well cooked fluffy inside. All of our other selections were sweetly delicious. We were ecstatic after trying each of our choices and will keep Tobies Bakery on our radar screen if we are passing this way in the future.

The food and service are fantastic. The Walleye sandwich is the perfect lunch when traveling. Don't forget to pick up Chippewa Bread, and Cinnamon Rolls.

Food was good but the coffee was terrible. Honestly the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. It was basically brown hot water. I asked the waitress if we could have stronger coffee and she said that was the only coffee they had.

I drove two hours and stopped by this location because looked like a nice place . My hash browns crispy were soggy, my medium rare steak was almost well done and the toast was more like dip in butter . $51.00 for this delicious meal . The waiter was I'm not sure if was friendly or not . My stomach is not very happy with my choice of food .

terrible service, bunch of girls staying there and waited in line for 15 minutes with no one in line. Only one girl checking people out, wouldn't recommend

Stop by on our way to Duluth for their famous caramel rolls, cinnamon rolls, and doughnuts. They were tasty, but a bit sweet for me. I like their dough though, was fluffy and soft. My favorite would be the Boston cream doughnut. They were so good and not too sweet. Highly recommended if you're around there.

Melissa gave us great service. The French Onion Soup was great, but the Rueben was a bit skimpy on the corned beef, although the rye bun was awesome.
