Local fare done well. Great service!
30 Bales is one of my favorite restaurants in Hopkins. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. I often go here to work as a writer. I didn’t realize they had a happy hour until the other day, and I’m sure I’ll return to take advantage of it. Look for the cute Paul Bunyan, and babe, the blue ox salt and pepper shakers on the counter.

Thirty Bales offers a nice atmosphere with good service and a focus on Midwest farm fresh food. The hand-cut fries were hot and plentiful, and the poutine was exceptional. Other entrees like the Duroc pork chop are prepared perfectly, and the corn meal tacos were handmade and tasty. The beet salad was outstanding, especially for goat cheese and beet enthusiasts. The restaurant has a lovely patio, though it is right on the busy street. The Brussel sprouts appetizer, served with an amazing cheese sauce, sourdough bread, and bacon bits, received high praise. Everyone loved their food and dessert, and the presentation was awesome. Sandwiches are large, with a walleye sandwich and a Chicken Caesar sandwich on the menu. Service was excellent. With prices that are reasonable for any budget, Thirty Bales is worth revisiting to enjoy a more comprehensive taste of their menu offerings.
