Los Portales Bar & Grill

It was good, not one of our faves but would go there again with a different choice.

The reviews are all over the place on this one so I figured I'd try it out to review it with lots of photos and details.
I visited Los Portales around 5:30 pm on a Tuesday. I ordered the beef fajitas, a coke, and the churros with ice cream dessert. The total before tip was $34.??.
The fajitas came out suspiciously fast, like maybe 4 minutes after I ordered. But the beef was cooked properly, well seasoned, and delicious. The rice was okay and the refried beans were not warm at all. The guacamole was fresh and great.
The churro dessert thing was nice and the little bowl of strawberry ice cream with it was better than I expected.
The waiter came by to refill my drink once and stopped to ask if I needed anything two other times. He was nice and I think he understood more english than he spoke, but for an authentic Mexican restaurant, that's probably a good thing.
For context, I live in Texas and have a lot of access to authentic Mexican food. I'm giving this place a solid 4 stars. If the beans had been warm it would have been 5.
I took photos of the entire menu, the entire drinks menu, and all of the food that I ordered. Although I am far from home and will probably never be here again. I would definitely eat here again.

This is my second bad experience in a row at this place. The first thing that consistently stands out is the wait for drinks and food. It is not an exaggeration that I waited 20 minutes for my first drink and 40 minutes until I got food. I ordered a margarita, and it was truly disgusting and weak. I then ordered a shot of Jose Cuervo that I later found out was $14! The food then came out, and the queso was runny, and I was missing 3 tacos. The one compliment I can give is that the food is pretty good, but the service and price will not allow me to go there anymore.

Excellent food and friendly, helpful service. This is a hidden gem!

We were completely ignored and never got a table. We tried to sit at the bar and patrons put things on the stools so we couldn't sit down. Zero staffed even looked at us. We were waiting so long we started counting things inside that were busted up.

Our family has visited Los Portales for many of celebrations and just to go out on occasion to eat some great authentic Mexican food. We chose to come tonight to celebrate my mother in law Birthday. Considering what is going on in Minnesota right now I feel the family at Los Portales is doing the best they can. They are short staff and it is only the owner, his wife and daughter trying to run the restaurant. I ask people to please be patient and understand they are doing the best they can under these very stressful times that are hurting a lot of family businesses. They are not able to offer the full menu at this time and I can't wait until things can go back to normal.

Amazing service! There are an incredible amount of drink options, and we were pleasantly surprised by a fantastic list of mocktails! This was our first time and we'll definitely be back.

Worst costumer service. Service hide in the back just talking while costumer are waiting to get seated. Will ignore you when you call for help

its okay
the pozole was good but the aguachile not so good i didnt check the menu but they put mayo on top of mine and for me its a big no they'll have to ask before they serve it to you like thay but maybe it was written in the menu and i just didnt notice it. but from what i know Aguachile is not serve with mayo unless you ask for it but maybe thats just me 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Had the octopus and it was delicious and well cooked. Definitely returning to this restaurant
