Charming house converted to an adorable restaruant. The wild rice soup was amazing, as was the swede sandwich. We will be back.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Gustaf’s this morning. This restaurant is in a beautifully restored historic home in Lindstrom and is very charming as is the owner Deannah. It is refreshing to find such an interesting menu with Swedish roots using quality, organic ingredients. A welcome change to the typical fare of small town restaurants! We can’t wait to go back for lunch and one of their special event course dinners.

This is our third time coming here and it’s always a treat. The Swedish pancakes are a hit as are whatever seasonal item they have in Tyler recommend getting some food to go. The chicken pot pie was fantastic. Also, if you’re craving a sweet treat, their pies are out of this world.

Wonderful food!! I've been here twice now and both times the food had been fantastic! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are plentiful. This is a wonderful place to have lunch while shopping in the town. Fast service with a smile 😊

A delightful restaurant making the most of it's historic location. Great (if inexperienced) service. We had what amounted to a light snack (grilled cheese and apple pie), but both were excellent. I would happily return to try other menu items. All in all, an excellent choice, I look forward to visiting the next time I'm in town.

My wife and I were traveling and stopped in town for a late breakfast because we thought Gustaf’s looked cute. The service was anything but.

My wife has a severe nut allergy and on the website it states.

“ Please let us know of any food allergies or other food sensitivities as not all ingredients are listed on the menu. Gluten free options (upon request) indicate that the menu item can be prepared for guests with sensitivity to gluten. Gustaf’s is not an allergen or gluten free environment. Menu items may be prepared using shared equipment, allowing for cross-contact with allergens and other ingredients. For these reasons, even when specially ordered, we are unable to guarantee that a menu item will be free of any allergen.”

Which is fine. When we ordered we stated the allergy and the staff informed us that the item requested had nuts. We told them thank you but since it seemed like it would be too big of a risk for her health we would need to find somewhere else to eat. We didn’t ask them to make any accommodations because the chef made it clear. It was too big of a hassle.

The owner/chef (I honestly don’t care) had a terrible attitude regarding this and made extremely rude comments towards my wife and I while all we were trying to do was keep her health in mind. Following us to the register heckling my wife with comments the whole way.

Some examples

Me: “It would probably be easier for us to go somewhere else to keep her safe.”

“Whatever, but you, ordered the waters so you’ll have to pay for that up front.”

Followed by

“Well where do you even eat in town? The grocery store?”

Just overall a very annoying experience. Definitely don’t go here if you have any allergies, regardless of what their website states.

Only bottled water for $1. No free water. Employees had an uncomfortable air to them and didn’t have answers for my questions. Added things to our order we didn’t ask for and were charged for them. The political poster at the entrance immediately told me I wasn’t welcome here. I don’t like when bigotry is paraded.
