I went and ordered food a hour before closing time. First off guy was moping floor with bleach that was so strong and smelled like throw up I should have walked out then. I ordered my food which was cooked to order but when I got home and open it the chicken “fried” rice was barely cooked. Key word fried rice. I first looked at it and was like it’s not brown like it normally is then I tasted it and half cooked spit it out. I didn’t pay for half cooked rice: Like are you serious pure trash. I use to come here all the time and just moved back to Mankato and thought oh my fave Chinese place but honestly I see it has gone down hill. Won’t get my money anymore that’s for sure! How you cook rice to order and it’s not done. Smh! Just don’t come a hour or two before close cause apparently they don’t care. Off to go find a different Chinese place you have lost my business and I will tell everyone I know.

Dietary restrictions: They have a diet section on their menu if you're watching what you eat! It looked like a lot of veggies, but I don't know too much about vegan/vegetarian eating, so I'm not sure if theres completely vegetarian/vegan options.
Parking: It might be a bit difficult to find if you dont quite know where it is, but google navigates it pretty well. It's kind-of connected to the Walmart parking lot.

I had a terrible experience at China Star. I ordered beef chow mein, expecting a dish with noodles, but received a meal consisting mostly of celery and onions with only a small amount of beef. When I went back to ask about the missing noodles, instead of receiving a polite explanation, the cashier raised her voice and became hostile. The food was disappointing, and the customer service was worse. I won’t be returning to this restaurant

Used to be really good with nice sized servings. Everything is so small and plain now. Only 2 little peas in my fried rice. The beef and broccoli sauce seems different or watered down or something. But it is somehow more expensive?

Always the best! I order China Star for myself and my family very often. We also order China Star quite frequently at work. The food is consistent, the flavor is great, and the workers are always friendly and welcoming. I’ve never been unhappy with any of the dishes I have ordered!

Hate to say I won't be returning after years of going. Place has great food but they felt the need to call the owner/manager over to tell me they refuse to box my rice and chicken separately ever again (as pictured) because it's "too much work". I don't like my rice being completely soaked in sauce and I think it's a pretty reasonable request but it's apparently too much to accommodate.
First question I asked was if the hot and sour soup had any meat in it. She said no. Drove 30 miles home and it most definitely had pork in it. Lots of pork…. It did look good pouring it down the drain though.

Well... I do realize food changes throughout the country. With that said the food was not what I was hoping for. I've lived in many states but the won ton soup was VERY blah. Only won ton and broth with strips of meat in it... no veggies in it and the won ton was very thick with little meat inside the dumpling. The other dish was chicken chow mein and it looked nothing like what I've seen and had before and did not taste very good. On the plus side, my kid really likes his chicken lo mein dish so that's a plus.I'm not saying the food isn't good and shouldn't served but, I am saying it leaves something to be desired... as if they know they are skimping the consumer but the majority of consumers here don't realize it. Like taking advantage of the public not knowing what they should be getting versus what they are getting.

Usually I love this place for Chinese but lately it has gone downhill. I got my noodles and they were dry and smell like they’ve been on the burner for too damn long. It’s my usual order but it doesn’t taste the same nor look the same. Will not be ordering from here again.

Me and some coworkers ordered from here tonight and the chicken had a very foul body order like smell; we ordered orange chicken. Normally I would say China star is a good place to eat but wow I'm sad they would even allow this out the door. China star is better than this, they have a reputation for being one of the best places to order Chinese food in Mankato but this is unacceptable.
