I had a half of a chicken Caesar wrap and a fresh crunchy pickle the first time I ate here. It was really good so the next time my fiancé and I came in to try some other delicious food. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Fiancés soup was lukewarm and came from a bag, as was my Mac n cheese. I had the French dip sandwich. It tasted ok. My fiancé had southwest chicken sandwich. He said it had no flavor. My pickle was very soggy. The thing we were most surprised about was the side of Tortilla chips which looked to be the size of a child’s handful of chips. The bread was the best thing we both ate.

ordered through their app about an hour ago got the french dip 12’ with au jus and received no au jus so was left with a dry bland tasting sandwich, partner got the pick two a grilled chicken salad and a pulled pork potato. Salad was perfect but the potato was burnt. usually they have my orders perfect but unfortunately they completely gave up half way with this one. safe to say don’t order online especially through their own app if you want it made right!

Even though the construction makes it weird to get there, I needed a new place to get lunch. My wife suggested McAlister's. I saw they had a Rueben on the menu, so I was already game. Then I saw the New Yorker. That's what I got today. Judging by how good that was, I can't wait to try the Rueben when I return. Only thing was they forgot to put my chips in the bag (only reason service is 4) and I didn't realize until I got home. But I'll let that slide.... this time. ;) I'd also not put the pickle in the wrap with a warm sandwich.
Edit: I did go back for the Rueben. It was fantastic. I will remember next time to ask the pickle not be put in with the sandwich. :) I even asked for extra Thousand Island and was given a container with no charge! Don't ask me which one I like better, though! They were both so good!

McAlister’s in Mankato is a great spot for generous portions and fresh food. The sandwiches are big enough to split between two people, and I even saved half for the next day — reheated it in the oven and it still tasted fresh. Definitely a place I’d come back to again.

The only thing I’d suggest is adding a dipping sauce option for the sandwiches, which would take them to the next level. Otherwise, excellent food and great value!

Don’t bother. It’s not so much a baked potato as a jacket potato with cheap cheese melted on it. The sandwiches are more like what you make after 10 hour shift. Bland but it’s “food”. This place is a colossal rip off. Lots of cheap meat topped with garbage produce, and glued together with bland condiments on a raw, dried out hoagie roll. It’s crap

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ McAlister’s Deli – Mankato, MN Review

If you ever find yourself in Mankato and don’t stop at McAlister’s Deli, you’re doing your taste buds a disservice. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere is laid-back but sharp, with a clean and comfortable interior perfect for a solo lunch, a casual hangout, or even a quick family dinner. Service was lightning-fast, the staff was incredibly polite, and they actually seemed to enjoy their jobs — a rare treat in the food world.

But the real star of my visit was the Spud Max. I’ve had my fair share of loaded potatoes, but nothing, and I mean nothing, comes close to what McAlister’s served me that day.

The Spud Max: A Loaded Legend

The Spud Max wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience. It came out piping hot, split wide open like it was ready to show off its brilliance. Fluffy, buttery potato insides were surrounded by a perfectly baked skin with just the right amount of crisp. Then came the avalanche of fillings: tender ham, perfectly seasoned turkey, fresh green onions, rich sour cream, melty cheddar cheese, black olives, and crunchy bacon. Each ingredient worked like a symphony — no part overpowering another, just total harmony in every bite.

What made it truly special was how balanced it all felt. I didn’t feel weighed down — I felt satisfied. It was the kind of meal that makes you put your fork down halfway through just to say, “Wow.” It brought comfort, flavor, and joy in one simple but masterfully crafted dish. The Spud Max easily earns its name — and a permanent place in my memory. I’ll be back for that exact flavor explosion again and again.
