Since busters closed I have been going to NaKato. Usually it's good, pleasant & affordable. The last 2 times I've been there I've noticed new ppl & it seems not so friendly. I ordered a beer & food at the bar. By the way the bartender was great & working circles around the rest. There is a gal cook that seems like she doesn't want to be in the kitchen. She made my 1 order & was talking nonstop just like the time before. What I ordered takes less than 10 minutes. Over heard her tell the bartender that my order was sitting there for awhile, while she's out talking. He was filling the inventory waiting on ppl at the bar while she's still talking & irritating the crap out of me for the 2nd time. I asked them a simple question on the type/ brand of shrimp they had last week & nobody could give me an answer. I like it so I wanted to know. Just shrugged me off. I didn't eat last week bc that gal cook was even louder so I left. Today my food obviously was on the cold side, sitting there for a while. Even then the fries were not done, pale & limp. I believe that cook could have let the bartender know sooner my food was done or better yet, she could have been working like he was & delivered it to me hot.

The woman working at the Blue Earth Historical Society recommended this place. It was very good with portions so large we couldn't finish our lunches. We are visiting from San Antonio Texas and like to eat at local places

We really love going to hometown small bars and we thought Nakato was awesome! We had the cheese curds with spicy raspberry. I had a pastrami on a pretzel bun. Their coleslaw was great! Both the bartender and server were friendly and our food came out fast.

This was our groups first time here, and I can’t say we’d be back. It started with wanting to sit outside (where others were already sitting), but the waitress, Kat, said she didn’t want us sitting outside because “it rained earlier so she didn’t want to go out there.” Then, we noticed that groups of over 8 get a 20% tip automatically added on. This is fine if the food and service was fine! But it just kind of sucked. Waitress had an attitude. Really wanted to give her benefit of the doubt, because service jobs suck. We ordered drinks, they were slow to come out, but fine. We ordered food and requested more water - it took almost 40 minutes just for her to come back to our table and give us a pitcher. Food took forever to come out and was cold. Amount we got charged was different than what was on receipt. Looks like a lot of the other bad reviews were from large groups. Do they just know that they have a guaranteed tip and decide that can give bad service? Not worth the price or wait at all.

Arrived with a large party and wanted to sit outside, was told no due to rain even though there were other customers eating outside. Waitress was visibly annoyed at having to serve our party and showed as she only checked on us when bringing out food and checks. Food was cold for half of the table and mine didn’t have any of the modifications I asked for. We got charged 20% gratuity due to party which we all were aware of, but the price shown on the card reader was higher than printed on the receipts, all of which had the gratuity charge posted.
I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to people with large parties as you will be quickly judged of being poor tippers and thus get terrible service.

Nakato is a good old long term Bar~Restaurant in North Mankato. Food is always delicious.. and the Hot Beef Commercial will be the best you've ever had

This place always has good eats, but where they truly shine is the amazing staff that always makes you feel at home. The cherry on top of me was they had a solo artist playing music in the bed of a old square body Chevy truck playing music in between sets at the annual block party Blues on Belgrade.

We ordered for pick up. Ribs and Nakato Best Burger. In 15 mins. the order was ready and steamy hot. The bacon was perfect, baked pototes the best. Ribs meaty and burger so good. Thank you for coming through after a hard day of cleaning up a wet basement. You made our day.
