We decided to try Olives in Mankato for the first time, at first we just got drinks and had some good conversations with the bartender. So we decided to go back and give the food a try. I’m so glad we did the food is out of this world (sorta speak) it’s amazing the chief knows what he is doing. We also tried three desserts that are also homemade (from what we’re told) and there amazing you can’t go wrong with this location

Wow. This place was amazing. Service and food were superb. Nice quiet atmosphere, perfect for a nice meal with friends and family. The food selection was wonderful. The dishes served were great. Bread, olives and olive oil served with the meal. Desserts looked very yummy but... I was strong and will reserve the calories for my next visit!

We went to Olives for the first time and loved it. It's not always easy to find elevated food in Mankato but we really enjoyed the food at Olives. We have recommended out of town guests for our upcoming wedding to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn because of Olives.

Olives was perfect for a family birthday outing! The place is classy but not pretentious. The food -- wow! Great for teen to foodies to 81-year-old guest in our group, who got an adventurous dish & loved it! Our server, I think Abby, was excellent in being attentive but not hovering. She even put a candle on the complimentary dessert for the 81-year-old bday gal, who is normally a tough crowd but not tonight. Thank you!

My husband and I were staying at the hotel and last night we arrived very close to closing time bc we did not realize they closed at 9. Server “L” came up to the entrance and informed us they would be closing in 4 minutes. My husband asked kindly if we could do “last call” and she seemed annoyed but still seated us. We understood we came close to closing and was planning to give her a good tip for that but as the night went on things never got better. She sat us right next to another table whose drinks she refilled 2-3 times throughout their experience but never refilled our waters until we asked. They received their food about 5 min after we arrived so I don’t think they arrived way before us. Same for another table across the room, also received food shortly after we sat down.My husband who is also a server, stated she may be upset bc maybe she wanted to go home early and that her attitude should change once she gets over her initial disappointment. Sadly that never happened. She made sure to keep her interactions with us short and even tho she never said anything wrong, she said things in a cold way. But, she spoke warmly with the 3 other tables she had and also kept checking up on them. After we ordered, I heard her warmly reassure the table behind us something along the lines of: another table just came in so you can order more. It was hurtful bc she made us feel like a nuisance but was ok with others ordering and was kind about it. In the end, we even left BEFORE one of her other tables who came before us, so it was very disappointing how we were treated.

I had a celebration business dinner here recently. I've been to Olives in the past, but it's been a number of years. I had a similar experience as I remember. Everything is good, but not special or unique.I like that they have their own easy parking. Atmosphere is nice and service was good. I wish we got more for the prices, but the flavors were good.

If you have not been to Olives lately it is time to go back! First, parking is very easy as they have reserved parking in the Hilton garage specifically for the restaurant and yes parking is free. The modern decor is very inviting when you arrive. The menu is not large, however all their food is made by Chef Matt. The entrees are excellent and his desserts are homemade. You really cannot go wrong whether you want pizza, steak, scallops or duck. There is also a changing wine, beer and bourbon selection if you are looking for some beverages! One of the best in Mankato!

The deserts are impeccable. This photo is 10 years old. we suggested maybe they have a dessert menu - a great option for town residents who don’t always plan on dinner out. Or a great after event stop due to location. Plus the place was empty so seems like a fool proof way to make money. We got the eye roll from them, ‘get out, peasants’ but I see it on the menu today :)The food is fairly good. Too salty mainly. The presentation is good. I’ve never had anything in there to die for other than the chicken schwarma on the brunch menu, seems like brunch is gone now.The staff were mainly snotty & unwelcoming. I had several repeat visits through work, and we were usually treated like strangers. The prices are more appropriate in larger cities than a semi rural community on the dusty prairies, but it’s also a captive audience with the next cluster of decent restaurants being 90 miles away. So, if it works for them….

Acceptable atmosphere but had a bad luck experience on a Friday night. Got seated and waited half an hour for a food or drink order. Ended up
