The Blue Boat

I really want to like this place. The ambiance is great. The drinks are amazing. But the food has been underwhelming each time I've been here. The last time I had the pork chops and they were WAY overcooked-to the point of being tough to chew. It's an awesome concept, but I wish they would focus on doing a few dishes REALLY well instead of a lot of dishes mediocrely.

This is a great place for a beverage during happy hour, diverse eats you'll find nowhere else in Mankato, and listen to some live music. I know it has only been up and running for a few seasons, but this has quickly become one of my favorites to hang out. Right now we have some complementary popcorn to go with our drinks while watching hockey on the big screen. A live band is jamming away right around the other side. With the vibe, menu, and versatility, there is no other place like this in Mankato.

The food and drinks were great, we had the best Gyoza. Staff is friendly and the overall atmosphere is on point. Coolest bartender ever! Can’t wait to see the show tonight!

This place is beautiful, and the staff is very nice. It could be the perfect venue for live music, but NEEDS sound proofing done to the space. The room bounces the sound everywhere. If you were to address this issue, this venue would be my favorite to perform at.

I went to a show there on Saturday night they only had one register and they were not prepared for how many people that were attending, my suggestion knock out the middle wall to make room for a dance floor, also another register or cash bar.

We had dinner at the Blue Boat restaurant in Mankato with our daughter Samantha and Stephan her boyfriend. What an awesome place! I had the Gyudon, which was shaved beef, yellow onion, and a egg, served with rice. My wife had the fish and chips. Samantha had the Su Succa Fettuccine in a creamy white sauce with sundried tomatoes, parmesan and mozzarella cheese. Stephan went with Katsudon Pork cutlet, rice, curry sauce, egg, served with rice. Everything was absolutely delicious!!!!Apparently they change the menu every once in a while to bring food from other countries. This time it was Japan. What a great idea!!!We met Mario one of the owner’s he’s done an amazing job creating a beautiful ambiance to the restaurant. The was also a live band! We’ll definitely be going back!!!!

Mario and his staff offer an experience that will never be forgotten. The chicken wings are a must have for any occasion.

It is only open for an average of less than 3 1/2 hours per day. Everytime we visit the downtown area it's closed. I have two questions: Why does it close at 8 on Friday and Saturday evenings? Why on Sunday is it only open from 9-1?Pretty sure this place won't be open at all much longer.

I was really looking forward to a new and different dining experience. I called ahead and was told there were GF options for the current menu. Alas, that list was short and nothing special. I can get a steak and potato meal anywhere. I split the salad with my date and it was the best thing I had. Putting a burger on the menu was less than creative.I also asked if the bartender could make a mocktail for me which I assumed would be an option at a finer establishment. "I can try". It was tasty though. Music that nite was average. The atmosphere is nice but the prices were too high and not enough GF options. I guess they are catering to vegetarians or hamburger and steak eaters.

Super unique place, there’s an area in back where you can buy a wide range of local art and other handmade goodies. The food is exceptional the drink menu is super creative. the staff members were friendly & welcoming, Mario is the best! We will definitely be returning ☺️

The restaurant itself was nice, but our server Madie was the absolute best and really made it a top tier experience.

Delicious food, drinks, and wonderful service. I love all the music and art this unique spot has to offer. I would go again and again.

Decent drinks and atmosphere. Service leaves something to be desired, if not begged for.
