The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with exposed brick, high ceilings, and soft lighting that make it perfect for date nights or special occasions. Service is generally attentive and knowledgeable, though a few reviews mention minor lapses during busy times.

Alma is a standout dining destination in Minneapolis, combining a fine-dining restaurant, an all-day café, and a boutique hotel under one roof. Known for its seasonally inspired, locally sourced menu, Alma offers a prix-fixe dinner experience that feels both elegant and approachable. Expect creative dishes like ricotta gnocchi with prawns, duck two ways, and inventive vegetarian options. Wine pairings are thoughtfully curated, and the cocktails—like the aquavit-based dill martini—are a highlight.

Exactly what you want in a neighborhood café in a bigger city. Bright space, fresh food. It's qr code btw

Ordered a blt and smashed fried potatoes. BLT was given to another customer. Had to wait again for a new one, “need another bot on the fly because we forgot one” was what the cook staff said. Potatoes sat there under the heat lamp, finally brought those over. BLT was just thrown together with old lettuce, bread was soggy and covered in heavy amount of mayo and mushy tomatoes. Picked out the bacon to eat it. The rest wasn’t worth it!

Nice feel to it, but the food was plain.

Ellie (sp?) was an outstanding server and the entire team there was wonderful too! It was our first time going here and we had a outstanding experience. The food was incredible and I love their focus on what is in-season and that they source some of it locally too. I would highly recommend this place for special occassions/ celebrations too. I loved that the offered Keepsake ciders and some local craft beers too.

Didn't quite live up to the hype. It was so packed in there; you were practically touching elbows with the table next to you. We both ordered a burger and thought it was totally average. We did get some potatoes that were really good, though, so there's that. It's a seat-yourself and order on your phone/order up front place, FYI.

My fault for scheduling our dinner for Amateur Night. The usually exceptional Alma was clearly stretched to the limit and slammed trying to accommodate all its Valentine’s Day customers. We experienced minor service lapses (missing utensils, odd course pacing, late wine pours) that in our 15 years of visits had never occurred. And the food seemed designed with at least part of an eye on being able to deliver to tables quickly. I’m betting (and hoping) Alma was back to its usual flawless self the very next night.

Parking: Do NOT park in the lot to the west!

Kid-friendliness: Really not a kid-oriented menu, but I’d imagine the usually sophisticated meals could be enjoyed by certain tweens and teens.

Wheelchair accessibility: Most dining is in the ground floor.

Take the croissant picture off of doordash or make croissants available to order, it's false advertising.

First, much more expensive than anticipated. Not sure the value of the experience was worth another visit. Food was very good but presented as morsels of high craft cuisine. Service again very good but presented with excellent information but in a formulaic manner. Service was attentive and worthy. Atmosphere was the main sticking point. They are on point but stiff, rigid, a bit on edge and somewhat haughty in its feel. I font believe they intend this but this guest picked up on it.

Everyone was very friendly yet polish and sophistication and ability to engage guest with greater vitality were lacking.

Like many places, they've moved to ordering via a QR code and mandatory tipping instead of adjusting food prices to reflect the cost of providing a living wage. One member of our party was charged by toast but the order didn't go through and a staff member made no effort to help resolve the situation.

The food delivery was incredibly lazy- silverware was not provided with food and drinks and food items were just dropped on one end of the table.

The bloody Mary I ordered was extremely lackluster, and at $12 didn't even include a sidecar or provide it as an option.

The food is so good here. It’s unfortunate that every time I visit I though have to deal with bratty smug service from behind the counter.

Experience was fantastic. Food was exceptional and service was excellent. However, I likely would not have dined here had I known pate de foie gras was on the menu as the duck treatment is inhumane and banned in various countries in Europe and California. We eat meat, but the animal cruelty that goes into producing that duck meat does not sit well with us.

2 people for $342 - the service is good but the food isn’t. Just go to Surdyks that’s not to far from here.

Our experience at Alma was overall a very good one. Entrees were great (especially the arctic char), petit fours, sides, and appetizers were fun, and desert was a nice send off.
Service was nice and always pleasant. However, the service in some ways felt inexperienced and could have maybe been a little attentive. But I wouldn’t hold these against them as one of our waiters was in training.
The atmosphere was great with dimmed lights and very cozy.

We’ve since tried the cafe and I don’t have much to say except that it was great, albeit with a very different style and atmosphere.

Vegetarian options: There is a separate fully vegetarian tasting menu.

Parking was free and easy. We were seated upstairs. Very comfortable. Loved the atmosphere! The food (tasting menu) was great! The cocktails were great! The service seemed to be a bit stilted though. Knowledgeable and professional server, but we seemed to be sporadically waiting for long periods. I’d definitely come try again because everything else was so good
