“Hands down one of my favorite new restaurants of 2024 so far. Service was amazing (they clear your plates and utensils between every course), and every dish my group ordered was amazing. I was a huge fan of the pork chop, smoked eel, and I still dream of the octopus bolognese. It is a bit of a pricier spot, but totally worth it (I'm already thinking about when I'd come back for the bolognese). It's a little small inside since it took over the old Revival on Nicollet, but I love the moody vibes.”

We ordered an array of food and our employees couldn’t stop talking about how fantastic the prime rib and KFC (Korean fried cauliflower) were! The talk around the shop about this event and the delicious food went on for days! We all had such a great experience from start to finish. They made it so easy to plan, set up, host and tear down. We would highly recommend anyone looking to host a party to come here! Now if you are just looking for a bite to eat for a date night or family night out, they also have you covered. “The restaurant is very beautiful. The space is fairly large and there are different coves for seating. There's also a decent size bar area. The restaurant is also very aesthetically pleasing. Our server was great and explained everything to us. He was also very knowledgeable about the food choices. I would say the food was just okay. Nothing really to rave about. I don't think there was a single thing we had that I could say was phenomenal. The portion sizes are small, but it's definitely good for a tapas style meal if you get enough. I would give this place a four out of five stars more so because of the great service.”

Chloe by Vincent 700 S 3rd St, Minneapolis French • $$

“Chole by Vincent fills a gaping void in the Twin Cities restaurant scene — French Traditional dishes, done to perfection, without feeling a need to have a “unique twist” or “fusion” element. Don’t get me wrong, those other kinds of restaurants can be good. But, when you want comfort food in an amazing environment, look no further than Chole. Our group had the French Onion soup and the daily special mushroom soup appetizers. Both of which were excellent. For mains, we had steak frites, cassoulet, the scallops, and a Vincent burger. Again, all excellent. Try it – you won’t regret it!”

The only thing I found disconcerting, and in particular post or mid Covid depending on how you look at it, was that the servers were picking up dirty dishes, handling the mouth area of the glasses, forks, napkins and then serving food. With the automatic 20% tip they charge I would think they could have a dedicated dirty dish person and serving person separately.”

Kataki Sushi & Ramen 6401 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis Ramen • $$
6401 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis

“It was a pleasant surprise visiting this place because I definitely did not know about it at all prior to trying the food, but it was a wonderful balance of price, quantity, and flavor, to the point that it made my dining experience worth it! Kataki is nowhere close to an upscale or fine dining place but I felt like I paid for what the food was worth, and possibly even more! The highlights are definitely the sushi! My partner and I only got the yellowtail and the salmon roe sushi but they both tasted very flavorful, and the koshihikari rice was tasty as well. I could tell that the sushi was a specialty in this establishment. The price was very reasonable as well, with $7 for the yellowtail sushi and $11.5 for the salmon roe sushi. The Kataki rolls were great as well, even if I knew that the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and spicy yellowtail combination wasn't uncommon. Someone it tasted fuller and more flavorful than similar items I have had elsewhere. The tonkotsu ramen was solid as well, and I was given a good amount of pork with good texture that tasted slightly different from what I was used to. The broth was only okay, but I know it's hard to achieve perfection for such in a restaurant so I was okay with it. For $14.50, it was worth it!The appetizers such as shumai, softshell crab tempura, age tofu, and takoyaki were also solid, and once again, for $7.5 each ($8.95 for the softshell crab) it was worth it, but they were not as good as the sushi in terms of economical value. The octopus meat in the takoyaki was hard. The age tofu relied on the sauce for flavor completely. And the shumai was a bit soggy. Regardless, they were all solid enough!Once again, I did not expect myself to give a 5 rating to a Japanese food place that wasn't the most well-known for its authenticity or fanciness, but the food was tasty and it made me "feel good" here! There are many establishments like this one, but somehow the food here has had more flavor in comparison.”

Broders' Pasta Bar 5000 Penn Ave S, Minneapolis Italian • $$
5000 Penn Ave S, Minneapolis

“My husband and I chose to celebrate our one year anniversary here today. It was both of our first times dining at Broders’ and we enjoyed everything about this wonderful experience! Upon arriving we were attempting to take a selfie photo outside and one of the employees opened the front door and asked us if we would like him to take our photo. Tyson so kindly took several photo angles and opened up the door for us as we walked in. It truly felt like we were being welcomed into someone’s warm and inviting home. Our sweet waitress helped me select the most delectable glass of wine I have ever tasted. Words cannot explain how delicious the pasta was… we lapped up every single drop and were in absolute food heaven. To top it all off… we were treated to a free dessert of our choosing along with two chocolate cocoa truffles on the house!! After we finished our meal we went across the street to their storefront to purchase some pasta and sauce to enjoy at some point in the coming weeks. We will definitely be back for all special occasions and certainly for our two year anniversary. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience and meal this is the place!! Enjoy!”

“My recent dinner at Spoon and Stable in Minneapolis was an experience that truly stood out in my culinary adventures. This beautifully restored horse stable turned restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance that set the tone for a remarkable evening. The menu, curated by Chef Gavin Kaysen, is a testament to his expertise and commitment to showcasing the best of Midwest ingredients with a French twist. We started with the foie gras terrine, which was rich and perfectly balanced, and it became an instant favorite at our table. For my main course, I chose the duck breast, which was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a side that complemented the duck without overshadowing it.What really made our meal unforgettable was not just the food but the service. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely enthusiastic about their work. They recommended excellent wine pairings that elevated our dining experience. The dessert rounded off the evening on a high note, with creative and delightful options that were as beautiful to look at as they were to taste. “-small tacos, kind of loud inside but fun atmosphere, great but somewhat inaccurate service (order got messed up), and delicious cocktails!I had a delicious chipotle camarones taco and pastor taco (both quite small like smaller than a usual taco). My friends said the steak taco was not very good (not super flavorful). The Paloma was delicious and served in a cool tiki cup but a little small. The burritos were giant and good. Be careful because the hot salsa is very spicy according to my friends. Parking can be a headache (some street parking after 6pm or 3 small spots reserved for Nico’s off street). Guac was decent but very onion forward and quite expensive for a group”

This adorable little old grandma made what ever looked good at the market into beautiful courses. This meal brought me back to there, 17 years ago. The flavors are so well balanced that each bite has the most amazingly perfect taste. It makes you forgot looking for all the individual flavors and simply just appreciate the perfect balance of all the flavors have combined to. Lastly, I love that it feels very much like good old fashion home cooking down to the extreme! The lasagna was something I will dream about eating again. Thank you!!!!!”

As my Mom noted, we had a DINING experience; we were not just quickly and mindlessly served. Because of that, us younger-fold will be back to JAX to enjoy that experience. Dessert for me was the mousse au chocolat (always) and having tried it at every restaurant that offers it, Christos will never be outdone. It should be mentioned that the salads are always made with what our daughter calls "happy veggies," always fresh and beautiful! the soups are all wonderfully special and "home made" as well. Nico was very responsive and provided great communication the entire time, making the planning process much less stressful. The room was designed to resemble a speakeasy and had a large wine cellar in the back of the room.Once everyone arrived, Nico began to present a wine tasting to us himself. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and was able to present that information entertainingly. The wines he had picked out tasted delicious as well. Along with the wine tasting, Nico and his marvelous staff served a wonderful dinner consisting of Black Caviar, Olive Oil Poached Salmon, a wonderful Wagyu Beef Zabuton, and more wonderful items. “Can I give EATO, ten stars? Food - the best I have had in years; the service - flawless, perfect mix of professional and friendly; the atmosphere - welcoming and casual. I would not have changed a thing! I had a large group of people coming into Minneapolis from all over the country and a few local friends recommended EATO for the group farewell dinner. A few weeks ago I stopped in and talked to the manager, Jason, and he suggested a half restaurant buyout for the group with tables over by the bar. (Excellent idea, it worked out great!) Then he connected me with Chloe who helped me pick menu items so my guests could choose a salad course and an entree course from five options, with optional protein additions, she also printed out custom menus to welcome my guests. Super easy process, and Chloe had great suggestions,. When we arrived Jesse, Connor, and Chloe were ready and waiting at the bar to handle the group of 30 people, serving them drinks with fresh flowers in them, special tap beers, and bubbly Prosecco. I think part of the group also had some killer Old Fashions they raved about. Connor and Jesse were our servers and they moved through the tables taking orders, delivering the food, filling water glasses, getting drinks, etc. The table service was impeccable, these guys know how to treat guests like honored family. (What more could you ask for?!) I don't know the chef's name, but kudos to the kitchen. The food came out quickly, and was plated beautifully. Without fail, every guest told me that their meal was fantastic. I personally had the beet salad (yum!) and the chicken Parmesan. It was the best chicken parm I have ever had, not kidding. “My wife and I came in on Monday before a show at the Fillmore. We had happy hour drinks and appetizers, along with entrees and dessert. Everything was wonderful. Hannah was great and if I remember correctly, Christian was the bartender. He made us very well balanced cocktails for 3 hours. My last drink was the chili rum punch. I pulled Hannah aside to get the ratios for the cocktail it was that good. I was taken back when she said it wasn't as popular as some of the other cocktails. That's a perfect patio cocktail and one that I'll try to recreate with my staff for this spring/summer. The only thing I will reccomend or suggest and it's maybe just a preference. For the crab cake appetizer, instead of placing the crab cake on top of the jalapeno tartar sauce,(which was delicious). Think about placing the sauce on the side and not underneath. It just seemed like there was way more tartar than needed. But like I previously stated, could just be my preference.”

“All three of us went to dinner tonight and had a truly memorable and excellent meal. We had not been to Salsa à la Salsa since they were on Nicollet Avenue and now I regret that we have been away for so long. I had the Pollo en Mole Poblano, H had the Pollo con Napolitos and J had the Tacos de Cameron. I’m a real fan of mole, but I don’t always love every mole I have. This was one of, if not the, best moles I have ever eaten. It was absolutely sublime. I used my tortillas to sop every last drop of the exquisite sauce! The black bean tamal that came with my meal was as light as a feather and just melted in your mouth. H’s chicken dish was flavorful and very tender, and the frijoles negro were expertly prepared. J tried both and said they were both delicious, but she really loved her shrimp tacos. The corn tortillas must have been freshly made – light, soft, perfect. H had the pineapple tamal for dessert and J and I had the orange flan. It was honestly the best Mexican food we’ve had in a very long time, and the best meal of recent memory. I honestly could have eaten that mole all night long. We won’t be waiting nearly as long for a return visit. 10/10!”

“Came to Char Bar for the first time for happy hour on Saturday with Kim T. Char Bar is a speakeasy on the inside of Butcher & Boar (through the glass doors). We arrived around 4:45 pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too crazy busy, we were one of a handful of tables. The hour menu was pretty good! A good amount of food and drink items ranging between $6-10. I had the Chicken Sammy ($10), Kim had an Arby's style 3 Way Beef & Cheese sando ($17), and we split the Curly Fries ($6). I also ordered two of the non happy hour burgers to go ($8/each). I really liked my sandwich a lot, chicken was perfectly crispy, the slaw was savory and sweet, Polynesian vibes. I would absolutely get it again! Kim liked her sandwich but she said the sauce was too much and soaked the bottom of the bun, the curly fries were fine. I had a dragon tattoo cocktail, serenity pineapple rum cocktail, and a frozen rum & cherry coke slushy. Drinks were boozy but pricey! Loved the menu showing the drinks very cute and visibly pleasing. Update: Butcher Burger ($8) was sensational! It's no Parlour Bar burger but it's sooo good, tasted gourmet and traveled well. Fun fact: the restaurant group over Parlour Bar also owns Char Bar! I liked the pickled onions and the chipotle mayo cheese sauce, good solid burger for a good price!”

The chicken and wild rice pot pie was a novel, yet obvious take on an old favorite. Of course those flavors go together. Can't believe it's not more common, but that's what's great about this place, they take familiar dishes and class them up. Really loved their cocktail options too. Will have to go back and try more because I was between a couple options. The blackberry sour was refreshing and had a hint of sweet to balance the tartness. Service was top notch, probably the best you'll get anywhere. Will definitely be back.Parking: There's a large parking lot that wraps around the restaurant. The back patio is in the parking lot. There's also street parking all around the lot, so if you can't find a spot in the lot, there are other options.Kid-friendliness: There were a lot more options for kids than on a standard kids menu and they had whole milk for littles. Their highchairs are better than most too with all the straps, etc. They give you crayons and the kids menu can be drawn on. Servers were good about putting food and drinks out of reach of babies and warning you about hot things. If you're looking for a family friendly meal out, this place has you covered.”
