“After hearing about the UofM meat market it took a while to actually visit... it can be a challenge to get there since they are only open Wednesdays from 2-5pm. The shop is pretty small but they have a wide variety of meats and dairy products including beef, pork, lamb, yogurt, ice cream, etc. The pricing is inline with current supermarket pricing. To date, we've only tried their potato sausage and it was very good. We also picked up a package of Butcher's Blend (beef brisket, beef sirloin, and pork belly) which we are using for burgers tonight. One additional thing I noticed was that they had smaller cuts of certain meat... for instance, the pork butts I normally find are about 10-12 lbs. I was able to get one here that was only 6 lbs. That's a much more manageable size when smoking a pork butt for just my wife and me. The quality is very good, the prices fair, and you're helping out the Ag programs at the U.”

“Update! Back again in 2024 and it was a hit once again. Great spot for the family in an old-school fair tradition. Everyone was happy with the breakfast sandwich, French toast, pancakes, and Swedish egg coffee. We'll be back in 2025...

Original review from 2023: Long-time gems like this make the fair unique. Very friendly people and typically a much shorter line than the Hamline dining hall. The croissant on the breakfast sandwich was extremely fluffy. Everyone at our table was incredibly friendly, as were the workers, from the host to the checkout clerk. A nice relaxed respite from the chaos the rest of the fairgrounds can be.”

“Delicious. First time experiencing at the Minnesota State Fair. Line was short. Service came fairly quick. I had a bacon Swiss cheese crepe. It was loaded with bacon. It was filling and really hit the spot.”

“Tonight the Manager,I believe she said her name was Latavia..Sorry if im way off about your name, any how She just provided the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever.The 2 young men working with her are also outstanding employees. My sister did an online order and an hour later still hadn't showed up.She called the location and the young lady issued her a credit. We ended uo going to Jimmy's and just ordered our food and this young lady really turned a bad experience into a major positive. She didn't make any excuses, she apologized, they made our food,she had a smile the entire time and literally made us forget we were annoyed about having to come pick food up. If everyone treated one another like this the world would be a greater place! These guys are awesome, thanks for the positive interaction.”

“On the way to work at the fair. I'm working here at MSF, hometown is back in Dallas, TX. This is hands down one the BEST pizza I've had from the Midwest. Wow! Mind blown. And the employee here, her name is Seven, she is incredibly nice and down to earth. She was patient with me not knowing what to order. Definitely appreciate her patience with all of us fair workers. I'm definitely stopping here again before the fair ends. Thanks Topppers for an excellent lunch. The pizza toppings were fresh and the cheese was amazing. Fantastic pizza! 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕”

“We were here for dinner over the weekend and everything about this place was phenomenal we tried multiple things off of the to share or not portion of the menu and loved every bit of it. The whole grilled fish our waitress mentioned rotates depending on what is available fresh and it was cooked to Perfection and probably our favorite thing all weekend. The cocktail menu is unique and everything that we had the opportunity to try was delicious I highly recommend doing the cocktail flight to anybody who doesn't have a favorite spirit. Staff was incredibly friendly and knew what they were talking about if you had questions. To those looking at going here reservations are a must!!!! Great atmosphere as well”

“My husband and I chose to celebrate our one year anniversary here today. It was both of our first times dining at Broders’ and we enjoyed everything about this wonderful experience! Upon arriving we were attempting to take a selfie photo outside and one of the employees opened the front door and asked us if we would like him to take our photo. Tyson so kindly took several photo angles and opened up the door for us as we walked in. It truly felt like we were being welcomed into someone’s warm and inviting home. Our sweet waitress helped me select the most delectable glass of wine I have ever tasted. Words cannot explain how delicious the pasta was… we lapped up every single drop and were in absolute food heaven. To top it all off… we were treated to a free dessert of our choosing along with two chocolate cocoa truffles on the house!! After we finished our meal we went across the street to their storefront to purchase some pasta and sauce to enjoy at some point in the coming weeks. We will definitely be back for all special occasions and certainly for our two year anniversary. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience and meal this is the place!! Enjoy!”

“We held our company Christmas Party at their beautiful restaurant and had such a great time! The staff were so attentive and wonderful to interact with throughout the whole evening! We ordered an array of food and our employees couldn’t stop talking about how fantastic the prime rib and KFC (Korean fried cauliflower) were! The talk around the shop about this event and the delicious food went on for days! We all had such a great experience from start to finish. They made it so easy to plan, set up, host and tear down. We would highly recommend anyone looking to host a party to come here! Now if you are just looking for a bite to eat for a date night or family night out, they also have you covered. No matter what plans you have this is the spot to be! A huge thanks to Lake and Irving for all they did for us and a massive thank you to Chris the chef! That meal was better than we could have ever expected!”

“Loved this spot! It's good for light lunches and dinners. They food was very good, I had the special, which was super yummy! They can accommodate kids and people with disabilities, there is a wheelchair accessible restroom. Their patio is very decent sized. I think the indoor space isn't as large, so something to consider when it isn't nice out. They have beer, wine and cocktails.”

“It's Taco Tuesday and I was craving Mexican food, but I didn't just wanna go to the type of place you think of when "Mexican" is brought up... I'm fancy, so I wanted something a bit more upscale. I did a little bit of research and wouldn't you know it... Colita came up. So here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set south of downtown and a bit west of The Mall of America on Penn Avenue is this gem. There is no private parking lot, but plenty of street parking to leave your fly ride. But once you walk up to the restaurant you can immediately understand the message they're trying to send. Everything looks so modern, straightforward with straight lines, grey colors and light woods. There is a small outdoor section where you can dine if you get lucky enough to land a spot there. Inside carries a very similar style with a little nod to the pueblos and architecture of the southwest. The decor is minimalistic and the "loudest" thing in the room is the live plant wall seated directly behind the bar, which was super cool. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we had no issues whatsoever. Food/Drink: I was able to try so many different dishes and drinks here and the list is below... 🍹: Xochitl In Love 🍸: La Clandestina 🐟: Tuna Tostada 🌮: Chicken Tinga Tostada 🦪: Seared Scallops 🫓: Tlayuda 🥃: Colita Old Fashioned 🥩: Lamb Barbacoa Tacos 🫔: Duck Tamal However, my favorite things were the Lamb Barbacoa Tacos, Duck Tamal and Seared Scallops, in that order. The food here is phenomenal, the drinks are excellently crafted and things are served tapas style so you don't get too full off of just one thing! Order a whole bunch of stuff and share with the table! Value: As I mentioned earlier, I wanted upscale and the priced dddooo reflect that. Lol. This is a nice place so be prepared to spend... Like you're downtown somewhere. In conclusion, I loved this place and I will come back over and over. Check this place out the next time you're in the area!”

“First, I have never eaten Filipino food before. I read their website and saw it was sweet and savory instead of spicy, which is perfect. I am not a spicy girl. When I arrived with my mother, we were immediately greeted by the owner. She took our orders and then we sat down. A few minutes later, her husband stopped by with our drink (halo halo) and explained how to stir it to blend all the flavors together.
Overall, it was a wonderful, friendly experience. The food was phenomenal and reasonably priced, the restaurant was decorated superbly, and the owners were amazing. I definitely plan on returning in the future.”

“The food was delicious and the owner is very kind and attentive. Wonderful all around and inexpensive! We got the coconut curry chicken and shrimp, curry lamb, curry goat, and garlic naan, all I would highly recommend. The bathrooms are spacious with a changing table and outside the bathroom in the basement in a box is a prayer rug, both of which are inclusive and caring touches for a small family restaurant. Will definitely be back!”
