Absolutely my favorite restaurant. Great price, portion and service ;)
The indoor dining area has been converted into a dry godd store. This is probably great for the neighborhood after the riots limited available groceries. also, with COVID-19 regulations, this might be a more profitable use of the space.
I stopped in to purchase some fresh injera. i stopped by fire injera and shiro powder a few weeks back, so I will be cooking up another batch.

Great Ethiopian food and service. Small intimate atmosphere with music volume at a reasonable level. We ordered the single meat combo and the double veggie combo so we'd have enough to bring home as it's a 30 mile trek for us into the city. So delicious, we will definitely return.

Katar River Restaurant | Ethiopian offers great Ethiopian food and service in a small, intimate atmosphere with reasonable music volume. The food is so deliciously flavored, hot, fresh, and amazing. Dishes like the single meat combo, double veggie combo, meat combo platter, veggie platter, and the 2 person veggie combo are packed with flavor and reasonably priced. The coffee and tea are superb, and the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony is well worth it. The staff goes out of their way to make guests comfortable. The owner is very friendly. The restaurant also serves scrumptious breakfast dishes, espresso drinks, and Chrinake (like a doughnut made fresh daily using quality ingredients). There are quite a few decent vegetarian options. The dishes and atmosphere are genuine and welcoming, making guests forget they are in America. The restaurant also has a store for spices, lentils, and other items. Katar River is a must try for anyone who likes ethnic food or wants to try something different.
