“I had a lovely dinner here. The star of the show was the churros dessert. I haven’t had any that come close! We also tried the Caesar salad (different but tasty!), aguachile, elote, and octopus al pastor. The octopus was a bit chewy and could have been saucier. Overall, it was delicious and I’d come back!“
“I never order corn tortillas. I have always been a flour tortilla kind of guy. Corn tortillas tend to fall apart while taking bites of your tasty taco. I will never eat corn tortillas, unless they’re from Nixta. They offer the best tortillas I have ever had! Amazing texture, taste, and most important, strength. We got their takeout box for NYE and everything was amazing! The chipotle salsa needs to be bottled. When I ordered, the site said it served 2-4. They weren’t lying. We had tacos on NYE and NYD. 1000000% recommend.“
“Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl(Tofu, red bell peppers, straw mushrooms, potatoes, romaine lettuce, seasoned rice and zing sauce)I was not a fan of coconut curry flavors until visiting Vellee a few days ago. I called an audible and ordered the Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl. Before we walked in the door, I just knew I was going to order the Korean BBQ bowl. I am delighted I was wrong. The chef perfectly dialed the spice level (#2) to my hopefulness, partnering it well with the zing sauce. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a zing sauce, but it was persuasive enough to make me change my mind about curries. The creamy coconut sauce covered the fresh ingredients with comforting casualness. The sauce to rice ratio was good – as was the sweet to heat ratio. My favorite surprise ingredient was the potato! It felt like it belonged all along. I left Vellee very satisfied, wanting nothing more or less. The vibe was as energetic as the boom box display on the far wall. I intend to go back again in attempt to get the Korean BBQ bowl.“
“I absolutely love Pura Lima. I was such a Chipotle girl (though, a frustrated one) until I found it, and will never go back! The ingredients at Pura Lima taste so much better and fresher than anywhere else. The staff are kind, efficient, accurate, etc. It is by far my favorite place for lunch! I've wanted to try dinner and their margs, but haven't had the chance - I had their mango limeade though, and it was amazing; Limey with a super fresh/real mango flavor. 10/10 recommend“
“Amazing neighborhood hidden gem! Met the owner Javier, such an amazing man - the restaurants food was outstanding, service was outstanding! I definitely recommend the steak tacos w/avocado salsa -so good!Such friendly and nice staff- I accidentally left a small bag when leaving (there’s so much food and such huge portions couldn’t carry it all) and they literally ran out the door and all the way down the parking lot to catch me before leaving- and then they were so kind and polite about it while making sure I had everything! Completely recommend 10/10 !! If you go definitely meet the owner- you won’t be disappointed, one of the kindest and sweetest people I’ve met since moving back to Minneapolis! Our family will be back very often!“
“I love the ambiance at this place. It's great for both date nights and/or group fine dining experience. My favorite is their Salsa sampler/flight. Food and drinks are a bit on the pricey side but I'd say it's pretty worth it. Great service too.“
“Excellent food!! I am crazy about this place. I tell everyone to try it instead of the more well-known Mexican place next door. I've tried the burritos, tacos and tostadas and every ingredient has always been super fresh. The burritos are huge and I love how they grill the outside well so the tortilla is crisp.“
“What an amazing restaurant the food was absolutely delicious. I got the combination Guanaca and it was well balanced and delicious. The fried plantain really added an extra layer of texture and depth to an amazing meal. Our server was very professional and friendly and really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. Hopefully if we are in the area again this is a must stop. I will be recommending this restaurant to my friends and family.“
“Came here with our kickball team after a game and we all were happy with the last minute pick. Efficient and extremely tasty food, good happy hour deal, nice patio, and very kind staff! Will absolutely be back here! Highly recommend the Birria tostada wrap, elote, churros, and chicken verde salsa tacos!“
“I'm a fierce and loyal Mexican foodie. I'll drive or walk thousands of miles for an excellent taco, burrito, etc. ENTER el taco riendo. Recommended by one of the workers at a thrift store daughter and I shopped at. Off we go! Wow! First, it's literally a hole in the wall and man, I'm feeling lucky! Always, always the best places! We order and of course, over order. The guacamole is chunky with tomatoes, garlic and cilantro-the avocado flavor is perfectly balanced! Smooth taste with the obvious homemade chips! SWOON! My tostado is Mexican style with onions, cilantro and Carne. The meat is uber tender and falls apart in my mouth as it melds with the corn tortilla and other ingredients. The taco? ☺️ WOW. the best one I had was at a beach shack on cozumel. This is 2nd. Again, Mexican style. The onions don't overpower the rest and never leaves a hot taste. THE SALSA? 2 kinds. The red one is a soft burn (like LA Estrella) but stays foe your next bite. The green is mild and feel your tongue do a happy dance! My Modelo Especial was icy cold-PERFECT! Daughters tamale was soft, doughy and so flavorful with the chicken it was insane (at least she shared unlike hubby). This place may look shabby but it's very clean. The service is quick and food is inexpensive. We ordered a boatload of food and it was a total of 30.00!!!! If you're a Mexican food snob, this place will NOT disappoint!“
“-small tacos, kind of loud inside but fun atmosphere, great but somewhat inaccurate service (order got messed up), and delicious cocktails!I had a delicious chipotle camarones taco and pastor taco (both quite small like smaller than a usual taco). My friends said the steak taco was not very good (not super flavorful). The Paloma was delicious and served in a cool tiki cup but a little small. The burritos were giant and good. Be careful because the hot salsa is very spicy according to my friends. Parking can be a headache (some street parking after 6pm or 3 small spots reserved for Nico’s off street). Guac was decent but very onion forward and quite expensive for a group“
“The birria ramen is in a class by itself. I dined at the Uptown location and the food was excellent and the service was great. Even with a language barrier we worked it out! Good service is at an all-time low so it was refreshing to be treated w such kindness and consideration. Thanks and we'll be back!“
“Oh my gosh! This is absolutely my favorite Taco place. I ordered the Quesabirria and it was to die for! The quality was high and the price was reasonable. The juice to dip it in was delicious as well.Service was quick, and there was no wait to order. Plenty of seating and it certainly looks like an authentic Mexican restaurant - good food with mediocre decor. I will absolutely be back! Weekly?! We’ll see!“
“Seriously delicious food, always fast, drinks are always great, the owner and servers are always super friendly, and the prices are not bad. I highly recommend this place!Parking: Always parking available on the street or in the back parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp entrance and openess within restaurant for easy accessibility with table and chair seating to accommodate a wheelchair.“
“Fantastic fast casual Mexican restaurant which is owned by a small business owner. No, I don’t know the owner or have an affiliation or interest in the company so my review is unbiased.I took my family time this restaurant based on a recommendation by a friend. The food is reasonably priced and is made to order. The ingredients taste fresh and the tacos, burrito bowl, and quesadilla tastes great. Not overly seasoned, but full of fresh flavor. If you have room for dessert, make sure you order the churros! I had to order two and we finished it all. Very tasty.Kid-friendliness: There is a kid-friendly menu, but my 7-year old and 11-year old eat a lot so we just ordered from the adult menu.“
“Maya never disappoints. I can take anyone there for a meal and they always leave happy. My 5 year old daughter still remembered the buffet (from when she was 3!) and was elated to return this week. Thanks for being such a great neighborhood spot. We've been regular customers since the beginning and we're so glad you're here ☺️“
“Loved it!! Got the fried avocado tacos, and almost started crying with how good they tasted.Only complaint was it was very loud in the dining room, making it hard to talk at times, but overall loved the atmosphere and wait staff were very kind and helpful!“
“Our favorite dishes are the chicken (pollo) street tacos and carne asada (beef) street tacos. We usually get 3-5 per person. The meat is always seasoned so well, you can taste the love and care that goes into it.I could also subsist entirely on the green and red salsa- it’s so good!5 stars for atmosphere because this lil place it’s a Taqueria and it is EXACTLY what it advertises to be.When we moved from Phoenix we were worried we would lose our access to street tacos - but Valerie’s fills that void in our hearts and stomachs!“
“okay so overall the food was delicious. i got the burrito and it was solid. no real complaints there. the yuca fries also delicious and not too greasy, perfectly crispy. the guac was so fresh and so were the salsas. my only complaint was the guava margarita. mind you i’ve been craving a guava margarita for MONTHS now so my hopes were high. but this one really missed the mark for me. it wasn’t guava-y enough and generally just tasted kinda watered down. (though you can note in my photo that i did drink all of it so it wasn’t unbearable—but truly who can say no to a margarita) it just needed something to take it up a notch.overall a great choice and they were super accommodating for our large group and the service was so speedy.“
“All three of us went to dinner tonight and had a truly memorable and excellent meal. We had not been to Salsa à la Salsa since they were on Nicollet Avenue and now I regret that we have been away for so long. I had the Pollo en Mole Poblano, H had the Pollo con Napolitos and J had the Tacos de Cameron. I’m a real fan of mole, but I don’t always love every mole I have. This was one of, if not the, best moles I have ever eaten. It was absolutely sublime. I used my tortillas to sop every last drop of the exquisite sauce! The black bean tamal that came with my meal was as light as a feather and just melted in your mouth. H’s chicken dish was flavorful and very tender, and the frijoles negro were expertly prepared. J tried both and said they were both delicious, but she really loved her shrimp tacos. The corn tortillas must have been freshly made – light, soft, perfect. H had the pineapple tamal for dessert and J and I had the orange flan. It was honestly the best Mexican food we’ve had in a very long time, and the best meal of recent memory. I honestly could have eaten that mole all night long. We won’t be waiting nearly as long for a return visit. 10/10!“
“4.9 tbh, lighting was strange and bathroom door is in the middle of the dining room but the food was absolutely delicious and the staff was super sweet and friendly we will definitely return. I can't wait to see what their famous patio is like in the summer“
“Calling all tequila connoisseurs! Not enough vegetarian options--I think just one taco option as of today's date--but it's still a very good place. Tastes authentic. Cozy but city vibes. Bartender was good company. Tequila is also great to look at and taste.“
“this place is better than bluestone, Chipotle, qudoba, and any other burrito place combined!! 10/10 would recommend! this hidden gem is the only place I will get burritos from here on out! ******ALSO THEY HAVE BREAKFAST BURRITOS ON THE WEEKENDS*******“
“I would recommend to anyone unless you’re soulless and only eat potatoes, and maybe then I’d even still recommend.Great tacos, everyone was friendly. Plenty of parking. Tacos were ready quickly. Just five stars. Thanks!Note- I had one of each: asada, pollo, carnitas, pastor. All were excellent- topped with cilantro and onion served on a corn tortilla. Salsas we’re spicy and verde. Both were awesome.“
“This review is about an online delivery order, catering order, and restaurant. I first discovered this restaurant because I was craving Mexican food, and it had really good reviews. I ordered a variety of tacos for delivery, and they were delicious! It reminded me of my abuelita's (grandma's) food when I was a child. Authentic tacos are not big, so order at least 3 or 4. Regarding the catering order, we decided to host a Super Bowl party and didn't feel like cooking for 30 people. The first thing to come to my mind was Tacos el Kevin. I called the restaurant and spoke to Armando. Armando and I collaborated on the order, and we decided to have chicken, steak, and pork tacos. The order included the taco meat, salsa in individual containers, grilled onions, cilantro, grilled jalapeno peppers, pinto beans, rice, and fresh corn tortillas I went to pick up the order a few hours before the game, and Armando made sure everything was ready to go. Please note that they were kind enough to help load the food in the SUV. At the party, everyone loved the food and asked where the tacos came from. I happily said, "Tacos el Kevin!" This last part is about the restaurant. There are approximately 7/8 parking spots, so plan on using off-street parking or an Uber. The restaurant is bigger than you think on the inside and has a small market. The food and items from the market are paid for at the front counter. The staff is very friendly so don't be afraid to order some food and find an open table. Bravo to Tacos el Kevin!“
“We had to make some last minute changes and reach out to El Jefe to see if they could assist us with our grooms dinner. Everyone was amazing through the whole process and very accommodating. The food was incredible and served fast. Even with the 100 degree weather Miguel made sure we had a great time. Thank you El Jefe!“
“Highly recommend this hidden gem for a great deal on the BEST tacos al pastor in Minneapolis. Nachos al pastor is a particularly generous portion (I had already eaten half of it in the photo) and perfect to share. Chips are made fresh in house. Sit and enjoy your meal at the counter, then get back to your day. It's worth the trip.“
“Sadly overlooked and sorely underrated. Best place in MPLS for tacos and nachos. I can’t say for sure how “authentic” it is but that makes no difference to me. The food is solid. Nachos are fantastic. All the tacos are good. I feel the market is flooded with tasteless Mexican food but this place is an exception. The service is kinda odd though. Everyone is very friendly but there seems to be no service plan or guidance or control or system (for lack of better terms). I always stand around looking aimless waiting to be seated. And if you need a beverage refill it’s gonna be a while. However, because of the nachos they could punch me in the face every time I walked in the door and I’d keep coming back.“
“Service is always fantastic and the bartenders take great care of us each time we visit! Food always comes out within minutes, the fastest I’ve ever experienced!Dietary restrictions: Services always accommodate my gluten and dairy allergy!“
“This place went over looked by me for years and for that shame on me! It feels like it's in an odd place for a restaurant, but the food and service definitely make up for it! The service is always prompt and super friendly and your food comes out in a very timely manner always tasting amazing! We've done take out and delivery with this place as well, because sometimes you just need that home-cooked Mexican meal but you don't want to go out in the cold!“
“This food truck has great food and conveniently located off 42nd Street. There always busy, you can pre-order and pickup as well. Ambiance 4/5 Food truck is conveniently located outside right off 42nd. It's right next to a liquor store if your so inclined to grab drinks and food to go! I always felt safe, never any sketchy business happening. Outside of the traffic, it's a pretty quiet area even in the Summer. Food 5/5 Have lots of options. I ordered the melons, Elotes, drink, and rice and beans. Cost 5/5 Altogether I paid about $15 Service 5/5 Always friendly and helpful when providing a drink carrier. I was informed they take preorders which was nice to know! Overall 5/5 great place if your in the area and on the go!“
“Amazing burrito bowls!!!! Food was amazing and staff was so friendly and accommodating. I attended with a group of four girls, and there was a homeless person outside who was slightly bothering us. The staff made sure to stay outside and make sure everything was ok! They offered great menu recommendations as well. I’m not from the area but would be come back here 100%!!! Five stars. ?“
“I made an impulse stop at the Central Ave location when I was running errands in the area a few months ago. Everything is so good...the ingredients are fresh, and the service is always super fast. I've been back several more times and am always impressed.“
“Excelente atención agradable ambiente... Comida muy buena ...la comida peruana muy buena...la chicha sour excelente...mención especial al Cheff Peruano Raúl Jacobi...preservando los auténticos sabores peruanos... 100 % recomendado...no se arrepentirán...y la Anfitriona y dueña le Restaurant Monica1,000 puntos a su personalidad y atención personalizada...“
“Very clean place. Great for vegetarian tacos/burritos, as you go down the line and tell them what ingredients you'd like included. Cucumber drink is delicious, and they have horchata and jamaica as well. Very affordable for what you get.Vegetarian options: You can get veg tacos or burritos and your choice of any and all ingredients.Parking: They have half the lot for parking.Wheelchair accessibility: No problems there.“
“Great food served quickly. Lively atmosphere with an eclectic mix of customers. Beer available but still family-friendly. I had the chile rellenos platter and my son had chicken enchiladas, and both were great. Convenient to the Willow Creek Cinema. We'll be back.“
“We had breakfast here and thought it was good, but could have been a little better. My wife really liked her chilaquiles, but thought it could have used some eggs, more chicken (she had to search to find it) and maybe a few chips on the side so there could be more crunch. I had the mushroom cemitas sandwich and really enjoyed it. There was a good heat to the sandwich and it was very filling. I also had the spicy hot chocolate which was very rich and tasty. The service could have been a little better as we saw our order get finished and had to ask the server if we were supposed to pick it up ourselves after five minutes of waiting, and then he brought it to us.“
“Holy bananas. This place is great! Food was amazing, service was great, atmosphere was awesome for us. I say for us because it was right after open and it was empty. Right up my alley. The bartenders (Jaden I believe and another sweet girl but I didn't ask her name) were knowledgeable and friendly. Beer was fresh tasting. Food wise, the jalapeños tasted like they were just sliced. So fricken fresh and spicy! We got the totchos (exactly what it sounds like and DANK) and the firehouse 21 burger. We ordered it medium, didn't come out pink but it was so damn juicy and tender I don't even care.Overall, 10 out of 10, no notes. Even the burps taste good.“
“This is my favorite food truck to go to. Their tacos are so good, good portion size and good price. Every time I have the opportunity, I make sure to stop by to get some tacos. The person serving / preparing the food is also very polite, nice, and friendly. Highly recommend them!!“
“Don't let the appearance of the outside fool you, this place is awesome. It appears to be a small family run business with the dad cooking, mom taking orders and the kids helping out. That alone is something that I love to see and support...but the food, the food was outstanding! some of the best Mexican food i've ever had and i live in southern Arizona where Mexican food is king! Definitely check this place out if you are in the Minneapolis area, and its close to the airport!“
“Tamales are awesome! The champurrado is my favorite as well as the cafe de canela and cafe de Olla ? Be aware that if you order two drinks they will not give you a drink cadie-only for 3 or more. Makes sense with everything getting expensive these days. Definitely a great spot to try if visiting the twin cities or you want authentic Mexican tamales and hot beverages.“
“This food truck sits in the corner of the parking lot of the former Kohl's/current temporary USPS. From what I can tell, it's open everyday from lunch to late night. Whenever I drive by it seems to be open! You can park basically right next to the food truck - super convenient. There's not places to sit but you can take it somewhere else or sit in your car! I went for the first time recently and ordered 2 mulas and a mandarian Jarritos all for $10. They take cash and card. The food came out really quickly. I've never had a mula before and I really loved it! I got lengua and asada. It was generously filled with the meat and was also cheesy with a crisp but soft tortilla. It came with 3 different salsas which were spicy but so good! Overall really solid Mexican street food. Looking forward to future trips here!“
“As a chef for 15 years already. I decided to finally try it lived near it for almost 7 years and was like I wonder if it’s any good.. seeing that it’s always busy I was like let’s try it out now I went on taco Tuesday night which apon walking into the restaurant it was really packed they found myself and my friend a low table as asked for the nice sweet heart of a server greeted us warmly calmed my nerves about my food allergies soy nuts ect and I told her that the cook that makes my meal is gonna get feed back because I love what I do and I love teaching others even in advice so myself I ordered the Baja fish taco and the Al pastor two of my favorites actually and was super impressed by the crunch for the breading around the fish and the flavor which was top notch in my opinion like 10/10 that person in the back knew what they were doing the Al pastor was again 9.5 out of 10 the only thing I would of liked is a lil spice . My friend had the steak and the Baja fish and I tried his steak spices and the taste are so delicious. So would I recommend this place yes it’s so worth it . Sure some of the menu was a little bit pricey but you can’t go wrong with 2.75 taco night as a cheap date night or just a meal in general.“
“Our new favorite authentic place to eat. The lengua is the best I've had anywhere. The Torta Cubana is absolutely fantastic. They serve menudo every day! It's a huge menu, everything is made to order you can't go wrong. Vicki is amazing. My wife and her became fast friends and then all of a sudden we she invited us to her moms birthday Fiesta! Love this place!“
“I love coming by for lunch! Such amazing food and the service is always fast and with a smile :)The vibes here are always good and I love bringing friends along with me. I'd recommend you get a burrito, they're so good! If you don't know what you want to get, they're awesome with sugestions. They've never steered me wrong!“
“the food was impeccable. i'm deducting a point from service bc the phone etiquette was slightly poor. to add, it wasn't due to language barriers or anything. her tone just rubbed me off the wrong way. however, i'll try this place again.“
“Stopped in for a takeout order and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the staff was friendly. On the negative side, parking is horrific, and there were a few hiccups with my order.Order Accuracy: Thankfully, I realized two items were missing before leaving the restaurant and the staff kindly addressed that quickly. However, another item was unfortunately missing, requiring me to drive back to get a refund. This was a bit of an inconvenience, and I hope the restaurant can double-check takeout orders more thoroughly in the future.Food: The food itself was decent, but not quite amazing. I ordered the chicken enchilada with rice and beans. I thought the beans would be refried, but they were not. My mistake for not asking. Overall, disappointed that the food wasn't quite up to par as the original Pepitos restaurant.Hoping my experience was due to an off day, and I'll probably go back one more time for a better Lupitas experience.Parking: Parking lot is not big enough for all the businesses in the shopping complex.“
“Great neighborhood spot, food quality is awesome and super affordable. Highly recommend supporting this local neighborhood spot. My only advice is they advertise online ordering, but that option for takeout wasn't on their website nor link to delivery services.“
“Hector, I left a review at the wrong restaurant, so I’ve deleted it. I am so sorry for that. However, the way you handled it, is how they should have handled it. Again, my apologies. I’m not sure how I ended up in a different state for reviews ? thank you!“
“My new favorite restaurant in the cities! Took my mom and dad here for my mother's birthday and we were all wowed by every dish! The mussels were amazing and the grilled bread along with was perfection. The rarebit took our words away- special, unique and craveable- highly recommend. The Caesar was actually something- fresh, perfectly light and savory sharp. The arroz con leche made my parents mumble delighted approval... All the drinks were complex and amazingly balanced (the Verde is my fav and very refreshing).(Petite Leon- PLEASE dont take the rarebit off the menu!)“
