“We stumbled across this when looking for African food and it's the greatest gem ever in the heart of downtown. The service was amazing from taking our order over the phone to rushing to get our food to us, as hot as possible. The woman that helped us was sweet and very gracious for our business, when we should be thankful for her. This food is 10/10 in every aspect. The fufu is fantastic, the chicken and fish were incredibly flavorful and juicy. Both the rice and beans were so flavorful and the portions were giant. The plantains in the stewed beans were perfectly cooked and a perfect addition to the chicken and beans. We will be ordering from here again!!“
“I've been working with Marlene & Fredrick for over a few months now to secure them as the caterer for a UMN event which just happened last night! Marlene is both kind & patient. To say that the food was a success would be a huge understatement! The food was AMAZING! The food was delivered very hot & on time! Thank you again, Marlene! I highly recommend them!“
“BEST AFRICAN FOOD IN MN!!!!! You have to try everything !!!! I had the pleasure of trying the jollof rice, and potato greens !!! I love African food and finding this restaurant made my day !!! Just try anything on the menu I guarantee you’ll love it and be back . I know I will !!!!!!!!“
“Excellent! Hands down the BEST jollof rice! Madam Oga is a great hostess, she is so sweet and it shows through her food. The jollof rice and chicken was outstanding. I also tried the fried chicken and it was tasty too. The meat pies are huge and a meal by themselves. The ginger beer is spicy and sweet. ? We enjoyed everything about our meal. The resturant is also super cute and welcoming inside. I highly recommend and will certainly return when in the area.“
“It was my first time dining at Daalo, and it exceeded my expectations! The food was delicious, my sister andI had rice with goat meat, and my other sister and mom had the Ethiopian cuisine anjero with tips and veggies it was delicious.? and show out to Abdirahman? who was overall inviting and professional ..I definitely recommend this restraunt. You get authentic Somali/Ethiopian cuisine here..“
“Best chapati in the world is found in this little coffee shop. Not to mention the chicken soup, which is so hearty that it will open up your nasal passages. Plus I like the fact that they have now renovated the place, which was much needed, although the building is old as hell.“
“Best place to eat on campus maybe Test Kitchen. Amazing and kind staff, fun atmosphere, and delicious food. I personally recommend the Chapati Wrap with chicken or lamb, or the gyro. It is to die for. Their fries come with a delicious sauce as well which I always request an extra one of.“
“We used Tamu's catering for our opening night party. Our cast had a lot of dietary restrictions. The food was wonderful. Chef Jojo is the friendliest person you will ever meet. The fact that they don't use dairy, eggs, or nuts in their cooking covered all of our bases and left everyone pleased. Our guests raved about the food!!Dietary restrictions: They use no dairy or eggs in any of their dishes. Most of their food covers vegan requirements!“
“The food was great, it was my first time coming here so I wasn't really sure what to order. You get plenty of food for the price, so well worth it. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. There is a nice seating area on the side, which was perfect for a work lunch outing. My coworker did mention that usually the line is pretty long, but we got here around 1:30pm and it wasn't too bad!“
“The food here is fantastic! It's not really a sit down place. Fantastic goat and rice and sambusa. Service is quick and friendly (I'm a white guy and find the other "white guy" review highly suspect.) my kids loved the rice and chicken legs.“
“A friend recommended this and I ordered one the phone. Timely serviceThe reason for 4 stars is because I asked 5 times if the Samosas were spicey and I got 5 times , No never none of them are spicy solid reassurance. I said I will give to kids please let me knowResponse was Hakawalwalin walaal only for the guy to pack 4 super spicy samosas for me. That is being purely dishonest by default and shouldn’t happen in a hugely n recommended restaurant“
“This place was very good. The food was absolutely delicious but the meat was a bit too over cooked for my personal preferences. This restaurant absolutely spoils you with their portion size, 2 meals could feed 5 people. We also received so much flatbread I couldn't manage to eat all of it, and our mango juice cups were filled all the way to the brim with no room left in the cup. Only problem is communication if you don't speak somali, the waiters know english but if you don't pay attention accents can get in the way of fully understanding. All in all I fully reccommend this place from a cooking standpoint but beware that Lake Street has amazing food but isn't a very safe street from what I've heard.“
