Akwaaba Market & Restaurant offers the best home style west African in the twin cities. This tiny little place has a small market and restaurant in the back, with a sit down area that seems more directed for takeout. The food is absolutely amazing. The egusi and swallow were incredible, and the jollof was one of the best. The meat (beef and goat) fell off the bone. The Palm Butter soup with goat and FuFu has a gravy like taste and texture, and was delicious. The Jolof rice and plantain with goat was also incredible, with sauce on the goat to die for. The greens with chicken tasted excellent, with seasonings that really understood the assignment. The fufu + egusi + fried plantains + jollof rice are highly recommended for anyone wanting to try Nigerian food. The owner was very friendly, walking customers through the menu with recommendations and samples. There are a decent amount of vegetarian options. The store might be a little dirty with poor customer service, but the food is soooooo good and never fails. Absolutely worth the wait.
