Ask the FBI, this is a fun place. But you need to know the password. I would recommend you don't tell anyone. Would sure hate for this place to get even more crowded. Seriously. What a blast!!

My disappointment really comes from the cost. I bought a "$12" cocktail that cost me more than $17. I recognize that I'm paying for the atmosphere and the experience, but I wasn't informed of the fees and upcharges. Nothing about the service or the experience was remarkable enough to warrant such a high bill, and I felt deceived by the pricing on the drink menu. I feel obligated to to, as servers and bartenders are consistently underpaid in our country, but I was not expecting to spend over $18 on a single drink. Stanley's had never let me down, until recently. I will not be returning.

Great time! Friendly people!

What a great experience. Pizza and pot roast are delicious. The nachos are okay but overrated. But you're at a speakeasy, the food shouldn't be your focus anyway!

What a super cool atmosphere! They know how to do speakeasy. Wow. And the friendly, happy servers were the cherry on the cake of it.

Such a amazing place. Food was so tasty. Evenly spaced between meals. We were there for the burlesque brunch. Every thing about it wax wonderful, food , staff and entertainment. Will definitely go back

I've been to many a speakeasy in the Twin Cities and Al's is arguably the most "authentic." When I think Speakeasy, I want the door to be nondescript, need a password to get in, and feel like I'm being transported to the roaring 20's and Al's fits the bill. Tell the bouncer you're there to see the furniture and he'll give you a spiel in the foyer and point you up a long set of stairs. You'll be greeted with a cloud of smoke from the fog machine and incredible live music from a woman in full-on flapper garb - it's awesome! The bartenders are all in character and dressed to the nines. The drinks are all great but I'd recommend the Bathtub Ginny which comes with a tiny rubber duck that you can keep...my bartender even encouraged it! I went on a Friday night with some friends and it was a nice change of pace from the typical Minneapolis bar scene. Everything feels classy and elevated and you might even get a little token to keep when you leave :)

Great fun up in the speakeasy! Staff in period costumes, great drinks and food. The singer was fantastic!!! I'll be back!

Burlesque Brunch with Al’s Gals was an awesome time! My only critique-having the gluten free and vegan menus be the same was a bit of a bummer. The first three courses were exclusively fruits and vegetables. Otherwise the drinks were great and the performers were excellent!

Al's Place is a lot of fun and I definitely recommend visiting at least once! Food and drinks are both delicious. Do make a reservation if you'd like to eat as it may be full. It is a bit loud so be prepared for that vibe!

Always a great time! Great for a nice dinner or just a couple drinks at the bar. Food is good and drinks are better. Definitely recommend finding a spot at the bar. Great staff too. JJ made us some delicious drinks!

This place is amazing - a truly unique experience. Almost like stepping into a time machine! So much fun. I had one of the best mules here!

What an interesting experience! It was my first time at a speakeasy. There's free street parking or a small parking lot in the back of Stanley's. We parked on the street. Walk yourself to the University Ave side of Stanley's. There's a door with a green light above it. Knock on the door and tell em you're looking for the furniture store. The doorman will go over the rules and then tell you to head upstairs. My first thought walking into Al's Place was "holy cow! I must've time traveled!". Al's Place takes you wayyyyy back to the 1920's. I loved the decor and ambiance...even the employees were in costume and character. We got here around 11:30pm on a Saturday. They have late night happy hour (I'm not sure what the exact hours are) on a selection of their cocktails. I ordered the Bathtub Ginny cocktail. It comes with a rubber ducky that you can take home! Service was great! Drinks were great! The vibe was great! Except the music. They had a DJ playing hottest hits of 2000's mixed with some edm. It was really confusing because of the decor & vibe. I would've expected some jazz music or classical music to set the mood. Overall, I had fun. I heard they do have Jazz Nights so I'll definitely have to check that out.

Is this review even going to be seen? Just kidding Al's Place is a Bada$$ speakeasy hidden away in Stanley's NE Bar. The atmosphere IS AMAZING! I love that it's 21+ because this is the type of environment you want to enjoy with all your senses. It's visually appealing -taking you back in time almost. The bar is beautiful. The food tastes delicious & smells amazing....the cocktails are wonderful too. The music is dated and wonderful It's a great intimate place. Suggestions- Drinks- Old Fashioned or Manhattan Apps- Shrimp Cocktail & Brie en Croute ( I don't usually like Brie but this was delicious) Main Course- Al's Agli Olio Linguine, Italian Pot Roast & Mama's Meatballs. Don't tell your annoying Yelp friends about this place otherwise this place might not be a speakeasy anymore ; ) Just Kidding. If you like them you can tell them I sent ya and if you didn't please don't mention me. Hope you enjoy!

Super fun dining experience. Somewhat limited menu but options for GF/V and everything is tasty. Wonderful cocktail selections. Attentive and entertaining staff!
