I was really excited to visit Aster Café for their advertised live music brunch (11–2). I even booked ahead and paid the cover online because it sounded like such a fun Sunday plan.
Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the expectation. I arrived around 11:50, got to hear about ten minutes of music, and then the band went on break until 12:45—almost an entire hour without the live music that was the main reason I came. During that time, our server rarely checked in on us, and the brunch food was pretty underwhelming.
They do have a gorgeous outdoor patio, it’s a beautiful setting and definitely has potential for a great experience. But between the lack of music, slow service, and disappointing food, it just didn’t live up to what was promised, which was really disappointing after looking forward to it all week.

Perfect hh or date night spot. Great vibes, friendly servers, some many items remain a staple like the tacos, and other items rotate semi-frequently. Have been coming here frequently the last 10 years and it's always good time.

Server was on the ball but very quiet and not very personable. My order came with poached eggs. Not poached at all. Cooked all the way through. I glanced around and noticed about half a dozen others that were supposed to have poached eggs. All of them cooked through. The grits were a bit stiff and lacking in basic seasoning.
Overall a meh meal. Learn how to poach an egg and you’ll be fine.

Beautiful space. We came on Swing Sunday. Loved the swing band and the old historic building! Great drink!

Great atmosphere. Cool location. Food was fair. Service was painfully slooooooow. Made us wait 30 minutes for brunch to end before they seated us. Rest of the process was ridiculously slow.

Lots of mosquitoes outside in the evening and staff are hard to flag down at times. Food is great

So glad we walked out of here and went next door to Cabana -- night and day difference in service. Better food selection -- the Cubano and Cabana is fantastic.

Live music on the patio was quite pleasant. Some can be intrusive for quiet conversations, but it was not. The restraurant is along the river, so a pleasant walk before or after is easy.
