With an average rating of 4.8 stars after 111 reviews (at the time of this review), I’m afraid my opinion will make me the black sheep—no pun intended. My first-time experience today with Basil’s pizza by the slice was devastating.
For those unfamiliar, Basil’s pizza by the slice offers a pre-cooked, likely day-old cheese pizza base with the option of adding up to two additional toppings. The only meat option was “pepperoni.” There were maybe five or six other veggie toppings from which to choose, but nothing like Mesa Pizza’s abundant selection, for instance.
I chose mushroom and “pepperoni.” The obviously-canned mushrooms were pretty slimy. If you like canned mushrooms on your pizza, then don’t be worried: they’re pretty typical canned mushrooms. The “pepperoni” was more like a dry, thick-cut sausage link. I see in the other reviews that Basil’s is hailed for its kosher pizza. I admittedly don’t know what kosher pepperoni is, so if you’re like me, you’ll be confused. If it’s supposed to look nothing like traditional pepperonis, then maybe it’s spot on. Again, I recognize I’m the black sheep here.
To finish off the custom build pizza, they top it off with mozzarella. So to recap, it’s a stale cheese pizza that was topped with canned mushrooms, “pepperoni,” and now another layer of mozzarella. The pizza is then baked for about five minutes then served.
Although I only had one bite before I elected to find a different lunch, my one bite tasted really unpleasant—my first ever bad pizza (I mean, c’mon, “bad” pizza is usually still sufferable—not this). Plus the shrooms, “pepperoni,” and top layer of cheese slid right off.
To add insult to injury, the employee working didn’t wear gloves and was just lightly rinsing his hands between switch from the register to the food.
To conclude, despite the reviews, I can’t recommend this pizza by the slice to anybody. Maybe a full pie is different; maybe it’s not. But buyers beware!
Wonderful neighbors! They all are incredibly friendly. On top of that, we all enjoy their fresh sushi, pizza, and sides and look forward to it every week! They've added more to their menu and it's been awesome. Great location right off 100 with a parking lot

Great kosher food in MN! I loved the pizza and Greek salad. Customer service was excellent as well. Definitely my favorite kosher spot in MN. Hope to come back soon! Thank you!

We love this place! The pizza is the closest thing we’ve found in Minnesota to true New York–style, and the best part is that all the “meats” are vegetarian. My husband actually prefers their pepperoni to the real thing! That said, a few times we’ve ordered and the pepperoni hasn’t been available, and we’ve been offered the sausage instead. While it’s similar, it just doesn’t compare to the pepperoni. A bit of a bummer, since it’s happened a few times now.

Ordered online and the order was ready when I arrived. Was pleased with the pizza, bread sticks, pasta and salad we ordered. They have someone there making fresh sushi and we look forward to trying it next time.

Got 4 pizzas for the family get together after a busy day with a family funeral and celebration of life. Construction on Minnetonka made us late for pickup, so greatly appreciated that they have a warming cabinet to keep pizzas hot for pickup orders.
Everything was delicious, and I was able to get a gluten free pizza for my sister. The basil pizza was excellent and we built our own for the others which were also tasty. Staff was friendly and prompt with service.
Loved that we were able to get kosher, gluten free, and vegetarian all at one restaurant since those are dietary needs for various family members. Had leftovers.

Although great prices and gluten free options, a majority of their menu was sold out which was disappointing to arrive there not knowing. The Caesar salad did not have any croutons, even on the side. Overall, the atmosphere was okay, we were the only person in the restaurant at the time of ordering as well. The whole place just felt off.

“We don’t have enough vegan cheese to make a pizza and we can’t do less than that” Great 🙄
Very good vegetarian actual kosher food. The Ultimate Burger is surprisingly good.
