Billy After Dark (B.A.D)

Sucks to give this place such a low rating. But it was not what I expected. Nor what it was hyped up to be.

First off, plan to spend $100 min. here if you are gonna bring a date out.
I consider myself a bourbon and rye drinker with a diverse (not crazy) portfolio in that realm. So I don't mind spendier pours or whiskey. But when I struggle to find anything under $200-$300 a pour for a neat whiskey, that's a bit much. I understand that some of this may be imported but come on...

Second, the communication and interaction is lacking here. I rarely drink japanese whiskey, and in my experience, servers don't know much about the liquors being served. Not to say they can't, but most just don't know.
So, I went to ask the bartender. Where I was almost shooed away and told to place orders with my server.
After I explained I was just looking for a recommendation on a whiskey in a price point that is in the bourbon/Rye flavor realm, they were nicer. But the hostility right away was damage that had already been done to be honest.

Third, mens bathroom had a flickering light that made you feel like you were at a rave trying to pee. Didn't look very clean either. And the sink faucet was loose in it's mounting hole. Not a good bathroom for a high end restaurant.

Overall, this is a decent bar that makes decent drinks. But my bill should have been half of what it was, and the vibe of the staff needs to get better.
I could name a good handful of bars/speakeasies I would go to before coming here again. And I would spend the same amount of money and not complain. This place is not up to the competition.

Cozy 90's-2000's vibe speakeasy with themed cocktails and hard-to-find Japanese whiskey.

Our waiter was great, the decor was fun, and overall lovely spot for a nightcap.

my friends and i had the best time here! amazing cocktails and fabulous staff. we were sat with gabby and she was just darling. will definitely be coming back! :)

Love booking a birthday reservation with my whole family just to show up and find it’s 21+ with it saying that no where on the website. Bullshit

The drinks were really good. The only downside was just like it’s really loud in there so if you’re trying to talk, it’s really hard to hear the other person, but the music was really good and our server was super nice. I would recommend checking this place out

I’ve gone to Billy after dark a couple of times now, and all of them were generally positive. The drinks were really fun but a bit overpriced. Atmosphere was nice - although the music was a bit loud so I couldn’t hear my friends sitting across the table. Service was alright, but the couple times I went it was either Friday or Saturday night so they were really busy and it took a while for the drinks/food to come out. Their drink menu is in a rotation, so the second time I went back there were new drinks on the menu which was pretty fun to experience. Make sure you make reservations if you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night! Overall, positive experience.

Everything was good but the waitress that helped us was so rude. I asked her if it was ok to split the tab she said yes, but proceeded to roll her eyes and be upset. Honestly if she didn’t want to do that, didn’t know how to, or is new she could have just be transparent about it and we’ve would have understood it! But no, she got mad rolled her eyes and told her coworkers and laughed about it.Do better.

Food was alright. They need more variety and need more options. Portions were small for the price. But the atmosphere was the only thing that was really good. You could get sushi somewhere else that tastes better.the server never refilled our water till we got our check at the end. Service needs to be better.

Honestly really bummed to be giving this experience a two star, but unfortunately BAD did not live up to the hype. We arrived at our reservation time at 8:15 and were sat in the room in the back (not as atmospheric or similar at all to the front room- I didn’t even realize there was a back room) so that was immediately a disappointment. It then took us forever to get our drink order in, I can tell based on the photo timestamp that it was 8:59 by the time we got our first drinks. After that it took awhile to get our food orders in, so by the time it finally came out it was 9:50. The quality of the food was fine, nothing crazy. Drinks were the redeeming part of the night, which I would expect no less from a speakeasy. However the slow service turned us off ordering more than one or two a person.
I really wanted to like this spot since seeing all the hype on social media, and with the price point I was expecting far better service. Unfortunately my experience was subpar, so hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes.
