I just stopped to buy bread. But... Beware, this place is full of baked temptations and friendly, inviting smiles from the vendors.
I must go back for a tasting.
Thanks 🙏

Their pastries were fantastic. I loved a spinach and pastry that was absolutely delicious. It was super busy (went on a Saturday morning) so next time I will probably get everything to go. I'm dying to try their croissant bread, I'll have to pick up a loaf next time.

An absolute gem in every way. The service, the atmosphere, the food, just heavenly! Wow. Do yourself a favor and get one of everything. I had a chocolate chip cookie, banana walnut loaf slice, and vegetarian quiche which was a melting your mouth soufflé. Dreamy!!

Best pastries in Minnesota, hands down. Black Walnut lives up to the hype every single time.
It does get very busy and they do sell out, so go early if you have your heart set on something specific. Even when it’s packed, service is quick, efficient, and genuinely friendly, which is impressive given the crowds.
They have an incredible selection with lots of rotating flavors, so there’s always something new to try. Their croissants and Kouign Amann are absolute standouts. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly executed. The caramel cream cheese brownie is decadent and rich with a perfect flavor combination. The lattes are also delicious and pair perfectly with the pastries.
They offer pre packed goodies as well, which are great for grab and go treats or bringing something home. The space itself is bright and welcoming with large windows and natural light, multiple seating options, and a small outdoor seating area when the weather is nice.
If you love high quality pastries, Black Walnut is a must. Worth the wait and worth the early alarm.

Exceptional bakery easily top 3 in Minneapolis. Rivals anything I've had in Paris and almost as good as Tartine in SF. The Focaccia is an underrated marvel (sadly only available on weekends though).

Our first visit was for takeout, and we instantly regretted not ordering more. The flavors were so fresh, and everything embodied what pastry perfection should be. Delicious, beautifully made, and very reasonably priced. We’ll absolutely be back whenever we’re in MN again

I came here on a Sunday morning 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line, and for good reason! The pastries here are incredible and i love the wide variety of options. This was my first time coming here and i got the chocolate banana croissant, potato and leek croissant, passionfruit and raspberry kouign amann, and the gingersnap banana pudding. All of them were wonderful. My favorite was definitely the potato leek croissant, as savory pastries are my weakness! I loved trying a kouign amann that had a twist to it, the passionfruit and raspberry really made it unique. I definitely will be coming back again.

Amazing pastries and great coffee! The raspberry pistachio croissant was phenomenal.
Do not get the tuna melt. I expected a delicious slightly oversized sandwich for the hefty $15 price tag but instead received a regular sandwich with as much tuna as you would expect mayonnaise (a teaspoon spread as thin as possible). I wonder if they flew in and gutted the fish themselves to account for this. I am seriously so surprised. It tasted like toasted bread with cheese (and tomato if it was lucky enough to be the middle two bites). They should advertise this as a vegetarian sandwich. Spent $50 here and probably would not come back. I did enjoy the chocolate banana croissant. Matcha was very milky, not a strong matcha taste.
