Blue Door Pub University

Today(Sunday 10/12) around 5 o’clock I walked into blue door pub with 2 friends trying to get a couple beers and maybe some food, as I often do. I was greeted pretty coldly by the bartender on duty, which I didn’t think anything of as I am a long time server/bartender myself and am very patient and understanding of the industry. I asked a very simple question “can I sit outside?” To which the bartender told me that there’s no service outside/it’s closed. That’s so understandable! I then asked very kindly (as I always treat my fellow service workers with respect and kindness) “is it possible to grab a drink at the bar and take them outside?” To which she responded with a very rude and passive aggressive “I’d prefer if you didn’t!” what she said did not bother me at all but the face she made and the tone she used struck me and my group, it was very rude and unnecessary. I asked for a beer list and she offered us a booth a couple steps away. Immediately after handing me the list she goes “there’s a tap list in the booth so you need to give that back to me” again, not what she said but how she said it and the face she made when she did was totally unnecessary and off putting. The worst part of this experience is when we got an in a booth and another employee came out and asked the bartender “do you want to serve them or not” and the bartender said “I don’t want to serve them” as she laughed and rolled her eyes passive aggressively once again. All three of us there are full time restaurant servers/bartenders/managers and we were genuinely so confused how they were openly acting disrespectful towards us when we were nothing but normal, kind, and respectful. After that we just walked out because it was clear she was in some sort of bad mood and didn’t want to serve us for some reason. I have never written a negative review anywhere, I’ve had plenty of bad service experiences. As someone who holds very basic standards for service workers and treating other people with basic respect, my 4 minutes at Blue Door was a very negative experience and that was completely unnecessary and made the atmosphere quite uncomfortable as we were some of the only people there. I personally really like this establishment and have been going for many years! But today was disappointing and quite frankly just weird. I don’t write this with any intent other than to maybe improve basic customer service with understanding customers who want to spend money at your restaurant!

Great local Hangout. Good vibe with college games on, reasonable music playing, mostly full place, and we plan to return! (Other than the service being slow, the food was tasty and atmosphere was great.)

11:30-1:15 pm 24SEP2025. Second time here. A group of 15 of us ages 35-60 stopped to have a team meeting. The waiter never came around for drink orders. When ordering food a couple people ordered drinks. Noone was checked on after serving the food, for more drinks or anything. When waiting on a small table near us, one of our guys asked for a beer refill and was not acknowledged. Terrible service! A couple of our guys are military and I wonder if that had something to do with it?

The layout is a pretty cool. I like the variety of juicy lucys. They don't come out as scolding hot (at least when I was there).

Ordered thru delivery so can't say anything other than the food, which was very disappointing. The juicy Lucy was lame and the cheese wasn't even melted

I was visiting Minneapolis for the first time I don't eat a lot of fried food but this is some of the best bar food I've had in a while especially the cheese curds and tator tots

Lots of different burgers to try and very good taste. Overall good and if daughter goes to school at the U we will be back
