Blue Door Pub University

I used to visit this place often with friends before the pandemic. The Mount Bluesuvious burger and cheese curds were our favorites, and the ambience was great.

Today, I went with my wife after years. The hostess (medium build, curly hair) told us there were no tables available and suggested we sit at the bar. Since my wife wasn’t up for that, we kindly declined and left. But as we were leaving, I saw the hostess clean an empty corner table by the window, which seemed odd since she hadn’t offered it to us.

We were parked right in front of the window on the street. As we were searching for another place to go on our phones, we saw a group of four Caucasians and another young Caucasian couple go in. I saw the hostess, now back at the booth, point to the empty corner table to the group of four, who opted to sit elsewhere and moved toward the bar. She then offered the same table to the couple, who were given menus and seated there.

Me and my wife were both surprised and frankly a little disturbed. I went back in to ask the hostess why we weren’t offered that table just minutes earlier. She fumbled and claimed the couple had been waiting on that table. I told her that, for one, I saw the couple just get in and more importantly, saw her offer the same table to the group of four before the couple.

She answered something along the lines of, they had another friend in the bar that was waiting on the table for them, which still didn't make sense, as it was only the couple sitting at the table. She then mentioned outdoor seating, which hadn’t been offered initially and appeared closed anyway. There was no one seated outside and it was barely lit.

What just happened here tonight? Are people of color not welcome in Blue Door Pub anymore? I sincerely hope this was just an issue with one staff member and not a reflection of the establishment’s values. Having said that, we are obviously not going back here ever again.

P.S.: I didn’t catch the hostess’s name, but I came in at 7:50 pm on Sept 17, 2024, if the pub wants to try and identify her.

Had the Blucy, it was alright. I preferred the peanutbutter burger they had, that was juicy and very good. The beer bloody was delicious, as were the fried pickles. Nice, chill spot.

We came here after reading some positive reviews on the burgers here for a bite after a long work day.
After waiting a long period for the young waiter to take our order, he came up a half our later to tell us "our order didn't go thru and the system must of glitched" meanwhile everyone else before us got their food. But he gave off the vibe he didn't like us right away.
So we ended up waiting 1.5 hours for food.
The burgers ended up being absolutely terrible, overcooked, and the fries were not hot.
I would never recommend this place to people who aren't college kids because they didn't seem to like construction workers.

Nice, easy going spot. Good service, decent beer selection. While my blucy was well-cooked, the gigantic bun made eating it difficult and I ended up using a knife and fork.

Stopped here with my fiancé for a quick lunch, we were craving wings. He ordered the Samurai Wings and I had the Buffalo Nuggies. They were crispy and the sauces were great!

I love Blue Door. The food is great and the proximity to the Como area is amazing. That being said, since they took away the QR code ordering platform, service has been TERRIBLE. We find ourselves having to wave down a server just to order drinks or food on a regular basis. The staff are not trained to be actual wait staff, so they often forget to check back in with you and can be seen talking or messing around in the back. I understand what it looks like when servers are trying to manage a busy restaurant, and this is NOT that. We come weekly, but I think we may need to find a new spot. This place holds a place in my heart, but I’m not sure we can suffer through another busy night where we don’t see our server for 30+ min. Would not recommend eating here if it looks at all busy!!!

Bar feel but clean inside. The server was great even though he had the whole restaurant by himself. The food came out quickly and it was very good. We got a std cheese burger with homemade fries (the highlight), Mount Blucuvious Blucy, Cobb Salad and Hella Totchos. Would definitely go back.

I had a really good waitress named Tessa last Wednesday and it made the night so great. Super kind, and a great server. Food was good. I had one of the juicy Lucy adjacent burgers here and it was the right portion and had great taste. Would go again.

One of the best spots for lucys. Get the tots and ask for the extra seasoning.

Had the MOUNT BLUCUVIOUS. Nice level of spice and burger was cooked perfectly. Only complaint is what happened to the tater tots? They seem different and not as good.

We come yearly to eat here and noticed that the food has change. It’s not what it used to be. Burgers didn’t have much seasoning and they came out sort of cold. I asked for a fried chicken burger but instead got grilled. Won’t be coming back :/
