Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but definitely overpriced. The quality of the food is high, and as a European I am used to smaller portions, but charging 19$ for four small meatballs with mash is way over the top.

Sitting next to the iconic 1908 mansion (33 rooms) of the Turnblad family (Swan Turnblad managed Svenska Amerikanska Postern, which had the largest Swedish newspaper paid circulation) is the Nelson Center which includes Fika Cafe offering many Nordic delights. Plenty of free parking. Keep in mind Park Ave was the first paved street in Minneapolis & Turnblad owned the 1st electric car in Minnesota.

Incredibly delicious food! I highly recommend checking out Fika. The swedish meatballs are so tasty, and their Bloody Mary is honestly one of the best I've ever had! The location inside the American Swedish Institute is great -- whenever there is a long wait, you can put your name in and explore the museum until you can be seated. The wait staff are really friendly and the atmosphere feels nice. Great place!

The food & drinks are amazing! The service from the waiter was also great, however, the hostess was frazzled & not very organized. She would notify 5-6 parties at a time that their tables were ready which caused chaos. The line was crazy when we arrived; we took the tour & returned. There was no line BUT we still had to wait over an HOUR (we were told ~35-45 mins) for a table. I would recommend getting your ticket, checking in for the restaurant, doing the tour & then eating. They will take your name & phone # & text you when your table is ready.

I typically don't do reviews, but today I felt like I needed to. This was my first time going to FIKA at the American Swedish Institute, my family recommended we go today as they are trying to make this a tradition for us to do around the holidays and the food was great. However, our server was not so great. One of my relatives had gotten a pastry and it seemed flatter than the other ones we had at our table, plus it was cold. When she expressed her disappointment our server said some snarky comments and didn't ask if she would like a new one at all. After that, he continued to ignore us for the rest of the time. Another employee had to come over and get my relative a new one because our server did not and apologized on his behalf. I am very disappointed about the service there, but I would definitely recommend going for the food.

"Indoor and outdoor tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis." Apparently, this is not true - at least not always, but when not true, there is no indication or clear direction. Around Christmas, the museum can become busy, and rules change at a whim, not comfortable for servers or customers who pay steep prices. So, for poor customer service, they get one star.

The meatballs/mystery green sauce are unreal. I can’t eat then fast enough.

Contrary to Google, I was there today, on a Tuesday and it was open! Lovely atmosphere, my meatballs were lukewarm, but the bread pudding was delicious.

FIKA is a restaurant in the American Swedish Institute. The name is derived from the Swedish tea time / snack called “Fika.” The food is inspired fromby traditional Swedish fare and was outstanding with an artistic presentation and Scandinavian flavors. The coffee was also maybe the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is fine - it’s located in the institute right by the entrance, so it’s easy to find but not intimate.Parking: The parking lot is between Oakland and Park avenue, accessible just south of the institute.

I was looking forward to visiting this restaurant, die to its great reputation! It dis not disappoint The salmon was recommended to me and it was great!! I also got the soup of the day, Cauliflower potato. It appeared to have bacon bits on top and that was the perfect addition. I also tried 2 desserts- the bread pudding and caramel apple cake. Both were good, but I did prefer the caramel apple cake. Overall, an excellent meal that exceeded my expectations!

This was an excellent lunch. The atmosphere is 'casual museum cafe' but the food is more formal new Nordic. The gravlax and pork were both excellent. They also pull a very nice espresso.

I didn't have super high expectations for this place since it's in a museum-ish place but I ended up being very impressed! We ordered all three of their salads and a cocktail and they were all great!
