pretty decent coffee. food is mid. not always places to sit as it can get pretty busy.

updated review- specialty drinks are much better so i changed my rating. also the staff are friendlier here than the one on nicollet. more room to sit too.

The $5 coffee was average….not worth the price though. It took a long time for them make people their drinks. Also, the wifi wasn’t working, which was the main reason I came to this location. While the atmosphere was nice, but I’d skip this place on your Minneapolis coffee tour.

First time here. Visiting the Cities and stopped in for a hot beverage and pastry. It's on a busy part of Lyndale Drive. Found a parking spot around the corner. The building is a burnt orange color with an inviting entrance and rainbow flags. There are a few patio tables and chairs outside. Inside, it has the feel of an independent local coffee shop. The tin ceiling, wood floors, vintage lighting, and modern art give it an eclectic energy. Plenty of small tables for independent work or quiet conversations. There's additional seating through a doorway that leads to another room.

Got here about 9 a.m. on a Friday. There were already plenty of people inside. There is merchandise on shelves that is available to purchase. Got a friendly greeting from the barista, who helped me place my order for a London Fog Tea Latte. I saw that they had a Northeast Fog on the menu (with coriander and fennel), but I got my usual with lavender, vanilla, and extra foam. I also ordered an Almond Croissant.

It took a few minutes (because they took their time with a good steep). The London Fog was very good, the right temperature and a nice creamy layer of foam. The Almond Croissant was nothing short of amazing. Along with the vanilla paste, they added extra toasted almonds inside. So yummy.

Some of the areas (including the bathroom) could use some TLC. But overall, it was a very good experience. Definitely would come back again.

Great spot for quiet conversation, light work and reading or intensive concentration. Parking is ample and close on the streets. Open hours accommodate early hours.

Good coffee, inventive drinks, and multiple songs from The Mountain Goats played while I was there. Everything you could want in a coffeeshop

One my favorite coffee shops in Minneapolis. Good cold brew, tasty espresso tonics, and creative lattes that cover all the bases for coffee lovers of all kinds.

The bee pollinator coffee was great. They run out pasteries by 10 am.

I’ve been coming to this coffee shop for six years at least two or three times a week. I probably spend $1000 a year here - And until now I was happy to do that.

It’s always been a little more expensive than Starbucks, but the staff has always been super cool and the coffee has always been is really good.

However, today I bought a six dollar cold press and I was handed what looked like a very light brown cup of water.

I asked if perhaps they had poured it from a cold press that wasn’t done brewing and the barista guy told me it was definitely cold brew in a tone that implied that I’m an idiot and I don’t know the difference between coffee and light brown coffee ground water.

I took him out his word and took a few sips of the water. It only vaguely tasted like coffee.

I told him he could have the coffee back because it wasn’t coffee yet.

He rolled his eyes at me and offered no refund - just shrugged his shoulders and said “OK.”

I’ve never going to this place again. The markup on coffee is so high. I’m happy to pay it if it’s convenient and it’s good and the people serving it are at worst neutral.

Today’s coffee was awful (it wasn't coffee), I spent six dollars for nothing which is not convenient. And the people were very rude.

In case management cares at all about this, this was at 12:49 On Saturday August 2. There was a young man and a young woman working. The young man was the one that treated me this way.

Five Watt was the first coffee shop I fell in love with in Minneapolis. The atmosphere is excellent. The coffee is definitely pricey but I’d say worth it. All day, all night is my go-to but I like the seasonal drinks too, especially the pumpkin spice lawsuit. The WiFi at this location is wacky. I can’t access many websites I need for work so unfortunately been going elsewhere to work. It can be tough to find seating too, especially on the weekends.

The matcha lattes are solid here. They don’t come sweetened unless you ask for it.

This place reminded me of home when I first moved here from Austin, TX, the plants, pride flag, and silly tchotchkes about…

The baristas are all personable and the music is usually really good, if loud at times. (Just as a warning for anyone looking for a quiet place to work.)

The breakfast offerings are only pastries, often stale. But the apple fritter is great on Sundays!

Overall, great coffee shop. Maybe someday they’ll get breakfast tacos…
