We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, cocktails, and desserts. With everything we ordered we explicitly asked “and this is vegan, correct?” I was served yellow curry with chicken. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-02
Food is a 8/10 for me. They do charge a 18% service fee here which I saw no one mention so I just wanted to include that for whoever. I’ve never had a place charge a service fee unless it’s a party of 5-6+ people. It was only me and my ONE friend so I was shocked to see the “service fee”. I’m just gonna assume that’s for tips which is still kinda crazy because tips are earned. Unless she just decided to tip herself because she thought we wouldn’t leave her anything.
A month later, I decided to give this place a try again but instead I picked up my food to avoid the unnecessary charges. The portions here are incredibly small. I paid $16 for this?? (Check photo)

Beautiful restaurant with welcoming staff. The basil fried rice tasted delicious and other dishes were also amazing. I wish they didn’t pre batch their cocktails, but other than that I had a great experience and can’t wait to go back. Something about those Lao flavors that is magical. Also, bonus points for having a lot of LGBTQ+ employees.

We went for late brunch and sitting upstairs in the atrium is a must. Perfectly fresh atmosphere. Meals are family style and you might be sitting with others at a table. The cocktail menu is delightful. The watermelon dill was my favorite. We had the fishing cooked in a banana leaf. It was a lightly herby and definitely order sticky rice. The papaya salad is less spicy than I am accustomed too but probably spicy for Minnesotans. This is a no tipping establishment and no reservations. Paid lot right next door. It was a hot day but I absolutely need to come back for the kao poon!

We went there 4 Mondays in a row after dance lessons next door. This is my favorite restaurant. Must try panang spaghetti, wings, and calamari. So incredible. The vibes upstairs are amazing, too! Going through Gai Noi withdrawals and coming back asap! Also service was great every time!

I’m really confused by this place. The food is REALLY GOOD. When you eat at the restaurant.
But I ordered takeout twice and both times it seems like they just give you the pieces they don’t want to serve in house.
Really disappointed because I want that same experience if I’m ordering take out.

Perfect for date nights, family get togetherness, or nights out with friends, Gai Noi is my go-to recommendation these days for a nice (but not fancy) dinner out in the cities. You can't go wrong with what you order plus the space is gorgeous and the staff is fantastic. They've hit it out of the park with this one.

Do not miss this place. It was so incredible! A good amount of vegan options, and even more vegetarian options. Of the vegan items, we got laab tofu, the crispy tofu starter, yellow curry with tofu and sticky rice, pickled veggies, and the jeow bong. Everything was INCREDIBLE. The flavors were amazing and I could not stop eating. Honestly I don’t usually gravitate towards curry’s when eating out (idk why, I always like them but it’s never my go-to) but the yellow curry was a rec from the server and it might go down as the best curry I’ve ever had. It was so flavorful and amazing. The menu is very well labeled and the flavors are bold. Don’t skip this place!
We had the best lunch here during our conference. It’s family style dining and it was great to share and taste all the amazing dishes. It was so busy when we got there but they got us in in a very timely manner. We had the “over the horizon” and the “passion fruit Negroni” cocktails and both were amazing! We got fried tofu, fried green beans, and pork egg rolls for appetizers. The fried green beans were fantastic. We got green curry, noodle soup, and peanut butter noodles. The service was great and so friendly, even though the whole place was crazy. We are from out of town and if we come back to Minneapolis, we will definitely come back here.

Went when a friend was in town for a conference. Server told us a 30 min wait time but ended up being closer to 5 minutes. We got couple drinks at the bar but took them to our table. We split the calamari and I had the Pad See Ew for my main. Super flavorful!! There are a ton of options on the menu depending on the vibe you are feeling. The ambiance of this place is incredible with all the plants. Will definitely be back!

The food was awesome! The service is also awesome! I got the crunchy wings and pork fried rice, really safe choices but still super delicious. I also had the Lemongrass gin cocktail, absolute winner.
I don’t wanna pull the race card, but I’m a Black person and I’ve had incredible wings in the great city of Atlanta. I have yet to find a Minnesota establishment that even comes close to setting foot in the arena of ATL wings. Gai Noi does it!!!
It was a busy Sunday evening, about a 20 minute wait for a single individual. I was sat near other two-top tables, but fortunately it was no bother. I was able to read a new book and enjoy my meal without feeling overly stimulated.
The music is very lax and kept at a low level. Other restaurants should definitely take note. I believe my server was Diego. They were straightforward and helpful. What more could you ask for?
I definitely recommend!

Ga Noi is in my neighborhood, and I eat there often. Tonight I took a friend for dinner. Standing at the host stand, we were ignored for about 5 minutes by Hannah (the hostess). Then, a man in a suit (Minh) approached us, identified himself as the manager, and said we were not welcome there, because of our "past behavior in the restaurant". My guest and I stood there in shock. We asked him what he was talking about. The hostess and manager brought up several incidents, and none of them had anything to do with us. This experience was beyond strange.
The manager then apologized, said they must have the wrong couple, and offered to seat us for dinner. I was quite upset (because I'm a frequent customer), and I said I needed a moment to think about what just happened. It didn't take me long. I told them we were leaving.
There are many weeks I've been there at least 2 times (and often three). I will NEVER go back to Ga Noi. They obviously mistook us for someone else, didn't take the time to ask us about it, and moved right to saying we weren't welcome. This establishment is rude.
I have loved their food and their innovative drinks. I have tolerated Ga Noi's automatic 18% gratuity each time I've eaten there with mediocre service, meals arriving at all different times during dinner (sometimes not ever), cold food, etc. I've always been kind and paid the gratituity without complaint. One night I ordered sticky rice. It never came. I asked three times for the sticky rice. When I got my bill, the rice was on the bill. I asked them to remove the charge, and I was told that I could take the sticky rice home???
After tonight, I will never go back. I can't imagine how embarrassed we would have been had we brought another couple with us, as we have done many times. Good bye, Ga Noi.
