first of all, this is NOT an lgbtq bar. if you’re looking for a queer space, this is definitely not the one. second, the security and door staff were positively evil and extremely rude. I left a bag inside and tried to reenter and was told repeatedly that i needed to pay the cover again despite already being a patron for two hours before this. when i got to the window for the cover, the security guard heard me talking to the worker about how i left something and just needed to grab it, he kicked me out and didn’t even give me the opportunity to pay the cover to retrieve my things. as someone who is visiting from NYC and wanted a fun spot to go to, i left here feeling very disappointed and uncomfortable. everything said, the two bartenders that i interacted with in the main room were both amazing and very friendly. aside from the friendly bartenders, this bar is busted and i would recommend someone to go anywhere aside from here.

Not sure why I keep thinking I can go here and have a good time. Over 10 years the most notably consistent experience is a bad time here.

The Gay 90's, while a staple in Minneapolis, is not the type of place to go. While they serve strong drinks, they clearly lack when it comes to keeping their clients safe. Too many times I have heard stories of people getting groped or taken advantage of in this club, and nothing has changed. If I want to be safe in a club where I'm supposed to be accepted, the line here has been crossed by too many people. Granted you can't catch them all, you can at least try. If you're queer, and looking for a place in the cities, I recommend Jetset Underground or The Saloon. Basically anywhere besides the 90's.

Would I recommend this place to a friend? No.
Would I visit this place again? No.

I just witnessed the most unforgettable drag performance of my life. Pure artistry, power, and magic all wrapped into one queen owning the stage. From the first step to the last lip sync, it wasn’t just a show—it was an experience. I laughed, I cheered, I had goosebumps. This is what drag is all about: talent, transformation, and unapologetic brilliance. 👑✨

My friend accidentally lost her purse in the club and she didn’t realize until after hours, lucky we were able to catch the security and they helped us get her purse back even tho they were off shift ready to go home, and they were so helpful and nice about the whole situation! Always have a great time and this experience proved that the security and the other workers do care about their customers!

I had a terrible experience at this club tonight. I was dancing with a friendly couple visiting from South America, and we were having a great time despite the language barrier. Out of nowhere, three girls accused the man of stealing a wallet. Security immediately searched him, found nothing, yet still threw all of us out.

It was completely unfair and honestly felt discriminatory. Instead of protecting guests and de-escalating, the staff punished innocent people with no proof. This left me feeling embarrassed and upset, and it ruined what had been a fun night.

If you care about fair treatment and a safe environment, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I have been here a few times and each time I have noticed the staff is very unprofessional and loves to assume things that are not happening. For instance, on night a security woman kicked my friend and I out for “doing drugs” in the bathroom when that was not true whatsoever. Another time, the woman who was patting people down to enter kicked my friend out for “clear signs of intoxication” due to her shoe being untied? Make it make sense? The bathrooms are genuinely filthy, and they love punishing girls over the creepy, weird, stinky men who are causing actual harm. I will not be going back. This “club” is a disgrace to club culture and the employees are horrible at their job. I recommend you find a different club to enjoy during your weekends, even if Gay 90’s is your only option.

They have a signature smell every time you walk in there and they serve you poison for drinks depending on what you look like. Restroom 🚻 floors always wet. Riding the donkey and the karaoke area that actually has air is all right it's big different DJs That's nice other than that NO.There's other places to have a good time it's okay if you thirsty and you don't have nowhere to go other than that it's not all that.

Lots of fun, drinks are expensive, good times. If everyone’s paying a cover, 18+ are paying like $30 a cover that should pay for our drinks .
