This little place warmed my heart and filled my belly with true food on a very cold day in Minneapolis. All my taste sensors were deliciously attended to. The owner and/ or manager welcomed me at the door with a smile. The authenticity of this type of human interaction with the staff is seldom nowadays.
Thank you for making today a great day for the man in suit.

Super great vibes and yummy food! Would recommend ordering “extra” of whatever pancake inclusion you’re getting, since the edges didn’t have many chocolate chips. The wait was ~20min to be seated but definitely worth it.

I had the breakfast routine. It was delicious. My friend had the pumpkin buckwheat waffle. Both were very good. The service was fantastic!

Charming neighborhood breakfast & lunch joint, kinda like a hipster Denny’s. Hot Plate has a kitschy atmosphere that feels like it was decorated by raiding the living rooms of a hundred Caucasian, Midwest grandma living rooms back in 1978. I’ve dined here more than a few times, and the fare is basic - mostly classic breakfast staples on plain white plates. If you’re an adventurous diner, just be careful. I tried their breakfast burrito and oof . . . it was literally drowning in chipotle salsa, so I had to tap out. But if a basic, over-sized all-American meal is what you crave, then go for it.

Hot Plate was just okay overall. The food was pretty basic. Meteokre warm food for 2 of the 3 of us, and it took almost 30 minutes to be served after ordering on a day where it was not busy or full inside the restaurant.
The breakfast potatoes and English muffin lacked flavor, though the blueberry pancakes were definitely the highlight and very tasty.
Prices are a bit steep for what you get and our server was polite, but did not offer any suggestions or guidance on the menu. All in all, it’s an average spot — not bad, but nothing to get too hyped about or wait more than 30 minutes to be seated.
