Horrible experience. Food quality was absolutely gross. The steak was so chewy I couldn’t swallow it. The sushi was over sauced, presentation was the worst. They wanted to charge us an extra waste charge, we obviously refused since the food that was left on the plate was disgusting but we will not be back. The manager is very unprofessional, dont waste your money here, they will most likely scam you.
I had a very disappointing experience at Ichiban Sushi in Edina. The yellowtail fish was clearly not fresh — it had an unpleasant taste and texture, which made me question the overall quality and handling of their seafood. When I tried to share my concerns, the manager was unprofessional and completely dismissive. Instead of listening or trying to make things right, they seemed unwilling to hear any feedback at all. For a restaurant that serves sushi, freshness and professionalism are the most basic expectations, and unfortunately, Ichiban failed on both. I would strongly advise avoiding this place.
This is a perfect spot with great quality.

Absolutely terrible service.
The waiter, Lei, was unbelievably rude and disrespectful throughout our meal. To make things worse, he added an 18% gratuity to our bill without telling us, even though we only had four people. Later we found out that this policy only applies to parties of six or more, so he basically overcharged us on purpose.
This kind of dishonest behavior is unacceptable. The owner should seriously reconsider having someone like Lei represent their restaurant. We left feeling angry and cheated, and we will never come back.

Incredible place to eat sushi and sashimi especially their dinner menu is worth the one hour drive 🥲🫶🏻…I love how friendly the staff is and how clean they keep the place. a bit pricey yes but you are paying for the quality and that is well WORTH EVERY PENNY.

We have went here since it opened and given them tons of business! The owner-manager has been very rude many times. Previously, I had asked to sit in a different section because it’s very loud in there and I wear hearing aids. He refused and sat me in the loud area.. today I was bringing my wife there for a 36 wedding anniversary. The restaurant was 90% open seating and he told us it would be a 40 minute wait cause he couldn’t take two people at a big table.
Honestly, we have been so good to this business and brought them so much business at this point I honestly feel he is racist. Very disappointing!

This restaurant has good food but very rude management and ownership. We have been regulars here since they opened and brought then tons of business! They are un accommodating and unappreciative. Very rude!
We went a while ago for a few time before they raised their price and it was pretty decent…and with the new increased pricing, and the LONG WAIT, our first serving of sashimi was quite disappointing…they had no flavor and the cut was tiny….it was not like this before…I would expect good quality for the raised price but no…second round was slightly better…I don’t know if we will return again for the experience and the price…it’s already far to get to for us to begin with…didn’t quite worth our time driving there and the quality we got…quite disappointed…recently discovered somewhere else better as well so we may not be returning…

Restaurantji Recommends
They don't take reservations for small groups, so be prepared to wait for 40+ minutes. Also, they sometimes limit how long you can stay.
Other than that, the food is amazing.

Always a great experience. I made a reservation for 6 but realized we had 7 people. I already checked in and asked if they could do 7 and they did. Great food and server Justin was very attentive and friendly.

Ichiban Sushi is my absolute favorite all you can eat sushi restaurant. The food is delicious every time. They have lots of different options for everyone and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend to everyone and especially fellow sushi connoisseurs!

Food WAS top notch and worth the $50 per person about a year ago. I'm editing my 5 star review to reflect the new menu, lack of care from staff, lowered food quality, and increased cost. Still a better environment and food than other AYCE sushi buffets in the Twin Cities, but no longer a place that I will travel 40 minutes for.
