Outstanding breakfast food, best pancakes we've ever had. The photos show plate-sized pancakes --which is accurate --but they are quite thin, a double stack would probably be equivalent to one traditional cake. They are so sweet, they don't even need syrup. This place is very popular (for good reason) so expect to wait, especially if you are bringing more than 2. Our twosome arrived at 7 on a Sunday and sat behind other customers for about 10 minutes before a couple stools opened up. The cook and waitress put on a symphony of service, cannot wait to visit again!

Great place for homecooked breakfast. But no one explained the system for us, so we just sat down by the windows expecting to order. But we eventually figured out that food is ordered and served only at the 14 stool counter, kind of like Al's at the U of M. It was a fun atmosphere even though a little confusing at first. We loved the hectic chaos, the delicious food, affordable pricing and the friendly workers. A wonderful classic American diner and experience. We will definitely be back!

I had the corned beef breakfast; and it was great! Nice large chunks of corned beef in the hash; and two eggs over-easy, with buttered wheat toast, made for a hearty breakfast. My wonderful waitress made sure that my coffee cup and my glass of ice water always stayed full! A pleasant experience all around.
Love this place! Been coming here for YEARS and it always hits!
Never thought I’d be a regular somewhere but here I am! I always get the Nordeast Omelette, rye toast, and hashbrowns. Hands down the best 👌🏼
Also, their pancakes are insanely good. I have wowed so many friends I’ve brought simply by the pancakes.

We came to Ideal diner with low expectations because of its size. Boy were we surprised the atmosphere was akin to going home to a family sit down, I am ashamed to say the food was better, without all the family drama lol:) this diner in my opinion is so much more than meets the eye. Thank you Ideal diner for making dor a memorable experience every time!
