The ribs were awesome as well as the margaritas. Sarah was a fantastic waitress.

I love the food, the atmosphere, and the service. We got a turkey burger and a burger platter. They both were good. Their drinks are great. Recommend seating at the bar.

1 of 3 pork chops were WAY over cooked along with the chicken breast and ribs. Waitress didn't come back to check on us until it was too late. The two chops that were cooked ok were juicy and good. Probably won't return. We were disappointed after looking forward to our first visit.

Been many times with great food and service, this last time things were a little off but hoping it's an exception. Still one of the best in town and always recommend. It's our go-to for out of town guests.

Went here for our anniversary. This place has been around forever and has great reviews so we were really excited. Our server was great and really helpful. Unfortunately we thought the food was pretty lackluster. There wasn't a ton of flavor to anything we ordered. For the price, I don't think we'll be back.

Alright, so J.D. Hoyt's is a Minneapolis staple/classic. I can't argue that. The atmosphere is all there for an old school dining experience. I'm the odd guy that hunts down cajun pasta dishes - so that's why this place was on my radar. I went with my family for Christmas dinner... Don't judge. The group ordered a variety of dishes - ranging from steaks to lobster tail, and I hit up my long awaited cajun pasta. Maybe I had built up the expectation too much, or maybe I have just had a few really good cajun pastas at other places... But this just wasn't my favorite. Honestly, it was one of the lesser that I've had. I like heavy cajun/spice. I'm also a little critical of the noodle to meat ratio. This pasta just didn't have the flavor/spice level I seek out. And to be honest, the sausage wasn't to my liking. I was told after eating that I made a mistake in not getting the cajun porkchop. Apparently it is worth the visit alone. Maybe next time. Also - as others have mentioned, be prepared for the fact that the restaurant is nestled cosily into the same building as a strip club. Moms, sisters, or dates may be caught off-guard that you are taking them to (Christmas) dinner that offers that kind of entertainment so nearby.

Poor experience and over priced quality and quantity poor . Pass this bye! Horrible Food . Overpriced Garbage.Terrible the worst experience and not a great value don't order the chicken breasts size of a Cornish Hen or the rice and beans side a complete rip off dried out and tasted of fire starter

Dinner was wonderful here. The service from the moment we got here was fantastic - valet parking, hostess, & waitress were so friendly & attentive. The owner Pat was absolutely amazing! He took time to greet everyone in the restaurant & checked on all the patrons to ensure all was good. It was also very meaningful that he recognize & appreciates the men & women who serve/served in the military. He thanked my husband for his service & was so kind to us.We ordered caesar salad, cajun steak tips, corn bread, cajun jumbo shrimp & garlic mp. All were very delicious! Definitely dining here again.

Very nice restaurant but extremely warm. Was there with a fairly large group, and they handled us pretty well. We ran out a drinks a few times and had to go steal a water pitcher from the server station. The food was pretty good, I had a pork chop and bbq ribs, but I would probably order something different next time as they were both pretty dry and overcooked.

I dine here routinely. Being a creature of habit, I always get the prime rib. Hoyt’s is not the traditional rich cut you often see. Their’s is a fat beefy slab charred to a tasty perfection. It usually has marbled fat adding flavor, but needing surgical removal. Last night was a piece of solid medium rare block of beauty. Absolute perfection. And the 18 oz monster provided leftovers and fed me today too. So good my dogs were limited on their allocated portions today. Whatever prime they are procuring now is spectacular. The pork chops get the hype, but they pale compared to what I ordered last night. I put my cardiologist on stand-by, because it may be worth conceding some life expectancy for another slab or two.Oh, and the house salad with Parmesan peppercorn dressing is a fine way to start.
