I was fortunate enough to experience the Tuesday night 10 course kaiseki seasonal tasting menu. Each course was beautifully presented and presented authentic Japanese tastes and textures that reflected the spring season. The staff were attentive and accommodating. For example, noticing that my wife was left handed her table setting was set up to reflect that. That has happened to her only one other time. A small thing for sure, but reflective of the care and attention to detail that was put into everything. Kado No Mise provides an elegant dining experience from the dinnerware to interior design. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Favorite in Minneapolis - the Omakase is so thoughtfully put together with an intentional flow throughout the whole meal. High quality ingredients and the service and atmosphere were excellent.

Environment, atmosphere and plates decorations are good. However, the food is terrible. We spent around 500$ for omakase, all foods and drinks are just so plain. No flavor at all, except salty and fishy. Not recommend.

Enjoyed omakase matsu with my daughter for our shared birthday celebration. After experiencing omakase in Japan, I have been craving that experience here. Just so happened the chef at Kado no Mise was an apprentice chef to the chef we ate with in Kyoto. Small world! Chef Furukawa made our meal at Kado no Mise memorable and served us the most delicious meal at the counter. It’s very expensive, but it’s more than just a meal. It’s a memorable, delicious experience, unlike any other place in the cities.

I did an omakase for two. Bill came out to around 400$. Food wasn't nothing to wow about to be honest&I couldn't swallow the uni at all being so bitter. The service was good in the beginning and then towards the end my partner and I were waiting for a while and I thought we were done. We we were waiting for our check but they had a soup and ice cream still which wasn't worth the extra 30 minutes we spent. I enjoyed the experience none the less but cringe at the money spent on underwhelming food.

To start off, when reserving online, they said there were no counter seats available. The entire counter was empty when we ate there that night.Staff were very rushed. Upon arrival, they gave us the drink menu and proceeded to come ask us whether we decided on what to drink several times after we asked for a bit to think. During the courses, they also came over to look whether we finished the food every few minutes, so they could then bring the next item. It was quite uncomfortable to say the least. There was nothing overtly unfriendly with the staff, but service felt like we were a nuisance that needed to eat and get out, which does not fit the atmosphere of a restaurant that costs this much. The food was also fishy and not optimal, and I really can't complain much about this because it is Minnesota, but one of the cuts was honestly poorly executed. Overall, much too expensive for what they offer in terms of atmosphere and food: cramped room, rushed service, mediocre food. The only positive was the person I dealt with through their email service was kind and helpful.

At Kado No Mise, the experience begins with the serene ambiance, perfect for enjoying a peaceful meal. The attentive staff ensures a seamless dining experience. The star of the show is the fish--impeccably fresh, it's a testament to the art of sushi. The homemade soy sauce enhances the flavors beautifully, and the sake pairing is a delightful journey in itself. The egg custard is a must-try. This place offers an exquisite taste of Japan with every dish thoughtfully crafted to please the palate.

Review:My recent visit to Kado in Minneapolis left much to be desired. As an avid enthusiast of omakase experiences, I was excited to try out this restaurant, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The overall experience was underwhelming, and the food, in particular, failed to impress.Having indulged in omakase dinners at various esteemed establishments such as Mr. Omakase in Miami, Mako in Chicago, and several others, I had a reasonable benchmark against which to evaluate Kado. Regrettably, this dining experience ranked at the bottom of the list in terms of food quality. One aspect that puzzled and disappointed me was the chef's decision to offer and even encourage the use of soy sauce with the omakase dishes. Traditionally, the art of omakase relies on the chef's expertise in crafting a harmonious balance of flavors, textures, and seasonings. The inclusion of soy sauce felt out of place and detracted from the authenticity and finesse I expected from a respected chef.Furthermore, the overall quality of the dishes served during the omakase experience was lackluster. The flavors failed to excite my palate, and the execution fell short of the precision and creativity that I have come to appreciate in this culinary style. It was disheartening to have such high hopes dashed by mediocre fare. While every dining experience can have its disappointments, I had expected more from Kado. The lackluster food and the unexpected inclusion of soy sauce with the omakase offerings left me unimpressed and longing for the outstanding experiences I had enjoyed at other establishments. In conclusion, my visit to Kado in Minneapolis was a letdown. The subpar food and the unconventional use of soy sauce in omakase left me yearning for a more memorable and authentic culinary journey. I hope that the restaurant's management takes these concerns into consideration and strives to elevate their offerings to match the standards set by their counterparts in the omakase scene.

I was told to come here as it has some of the best sushi outside of Japan. I was not disappointed! The staff is great, the food is excellent. If you have the chance to do omakase - definitely give it a try! A regular birthday spot for me.

Atmosphere, presentation, and staff were great.Food, not so much. Most of the fish dishes and nigiri were fishy. I had high expectation after doing some research on the chef and for the price.Currently as it stands NYC is beyond reach.I had Omakase in NYC for 75/person 3 days prior, and it was best sushi I've ever had, same fish menu but very different in taste and quality.Sadly it was not worth $145/pp.
