I got a mocktail, split the sakoo with a friend, and got the rainbow rice. While the food was amazing, I spent $70 with tip and felt like I could have eaten more. I was legitimately upset for a week at how much I spent to go home hungry.

I went here for a birthday. They have a separate printed vegetarian/vegan menu, which was nice. We had sticky rice and various sauces, curry, and the balls/dumplings (I’m too lazy to look up the name). I had a cocktail that came with a cute little elephant decoration. Everything was fine, but nothing really stood out as justifying the very high price ($100 for two people to have a moderate amount of food). Gai Noi has a similar menu (and I think the same ownership?) with much more reasonable pricing.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. If you’re looking to escape the winter cold and feel like you’re somewhere warmer, this is your place. I wish I had taken more pictures but we were too busy enjoying the food and atmosphere!

We had incredible service the entire time and always felt taken care of. I started with the Sok Dee cocktail that our server recommended as a good tequila drink. So refreshing and beautifully presented. The basil wings were some of the best wings I have ever had. Such good flavor and the perfect amount of crispy. We also got the Winter Vegetables. Also very unique flavors and would try again. Lastly, the Duck Fried Rice was amazing. Lots of flavor and very filling.

There is free street parking but they also offer valet parking.

Will definitely be back!!!

The best place to dine in the Lyndale neighborhood, and perhaps all of Minneapolis for authentic Laotian food. When entering, the front desk is well staffed and prepared for our reservation seating. The front entrance has a waiting area with some seating and wonderful big windows.

If you order only one thing, I recommend the Shrimp Rolls. They are so beautiful with the wrapped rice displaying the leaves and covered with editable blossoms.

When living in London, my favorite dish to eat out was Crispy Duck; I’ve tried it many times in the states, and it fell short. But not at Khaluna! It was absolutely fabulous. It is called Duck Laab on the menu, and comes with mint, cucumber, lemon grass and an amazing, toasted rice powder.

My mother ordered the Chicken Red Curry, which comes in a delicious smoked broth and bell peppers. Having loved Asin food all her life, she thought this was some of the best. As is the Pistachio Orange Blossom Cake and Sake Pineapple Parfait for a finisher dessert.

The gentleman in our group ordered the Green Curry and Scallops after our delightful waitress described it. He is not one who usually likes peas, but he will order this again. Special diet menu entrées are available, such as peanut-free options.

It has very spacious and cheerful patio seating. Actually, there are a lot of dining venue choices. We like that the tables and booths are spaced a nice distance apart. You can order off of the full menu at the bar, which has open, first-serve seating. Several tables for 2, 4, and 6 have curved, cushioned seating, which is very comfortable and makes conversations easier.

A nice size valet parking lot right by the front door. Customer service is top-notch, as was the entire dining experience.

Vegetarian options: Fantasic all vegetablie menu entrees.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a nice wide front door, easy for wheelchairs.

Atmosphere is great, service is good. They try to be accommodating to vegan diets but if you don’t eat meat and have a choice, I wouldn’t spend your money here. The food is good but really overpriced and tiny portions. The yellow curry is tasty and rich but mostly potatoes ($28). Another time I got the laksa made vegan and it was only noodles and sauce (no real toppings or anything substantial at all—$31). For the Tom Kem where they replaced five pieces of pork belly with four of the tiniest, most thinly sliced pieces of tofu and still charged $21 for it. The tom kem was the most disappointing because the pickled vegetables probably pair well with the fatty richness of the pork but don’t do anything for tofu. Left hungry all three times I ate here which is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are not satisfying and overpriced.

Amazing dinner for my husband's birthday. Nick was a great waiter and helped us with all the best choices on the menu. Highly recommend the Sakoo appetizer! 😊 My sister has lived in MSP for the last six months and says this is the best restaurant she has been to in the city!

the food is amazing. flavors familiar to me are refined and elevated, which isn’t something that happens often in minnesota’s southeast asian cuisine. everything was delicious and balanced in their complex flavors. i will say, though, definitely pass on the basil wings. they are tasty, but are just your average fried chicken, slightly above average at most. we were told that the recipe is a closely guarded secret, with only three chefs in the back knowing how to make the dish. i was quite underwhelmed. still tasty, just not as flavorful as everything else. the interior itself is beautiful, and i look forward to coming again!

Exquisite atmosphere, attentive service, and new takes on southeast Asian classics make for a can't miss restaurant. Great for a hot date, to celebrate a special occasion, or simply to take your taste buds in a journey.

I have been once for dinner and once for brunch. Food and service were good both times, nothing that knocked my socks off either time (except maybe the dessert, but I admittedly have a sweet tooth so I might be easier to please there), but also no misses or low points. You are definitely paying for the vibe and aesthetics and it 100% delivers on that front so I have no complaint. Just fits a specific sort of mood or occasion, for me at least.

Unfortunately our experience was underwhelming! One star for the ambiance because it's a beautiful restaurant, one star for our server, she was nice and one star for the some of the food. We got the basil wings, red snapper crudo (very good), bucatini talay (greasy and salty) and green curry with scallops. Almost everything was very very salty and pretty sure the wings were made with MSG. We both felt sick that night. Food was not worth the hype and have had better meals at her other restaurants. Likely won't be going back again

Excellent upscale pan-Asian food and fantastic cocktails! Didn't love the wings, but the Crudo and Masseman curry were great!
