We ordered food for takeout. The food was mediocre at best, and there were multiple hairs in one of our dishes. Their contact number (listed on their website, online, and menu) is not a valid number so there is no way to communicate. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again.
I was very disappointed with the Chicken chow mein. Little tidbits of chicken in a thick brown sauce with very little vegetables. All sauce. Not worth the price
Ordered Sesame Chicken on door dash and it was obviously a pre-made to-go box from earlier in the day, tossed in a microwave, and sent out the door. Really disappointed.
We order here once every five years, in hopes that it's gotten better. It hasn't. This place is an odity. By all rights, it should have went out of business many years ago. It falls under the quality of small town Chinese restaurant, where there's one restaurant, so the quality is usually pretty bad due to lack of competition. I'm told it's for sale. Fingers crossed. Hopefully the next group will have more pride in the food they make. I'm at a loss as to why they have such a high rating. My bar for Chinese food is pretty low and am accustomed to some pretty basic meals with no effort or flavor at all but this place is the bottom rung. The only thing I can think of is that like a small town, the locals here have gotten use to low grade food from here and like it.
We love kwans!!!! This is the best Chinese food in Sw mpls. Get the orange chicken. You won’t regret it. We order here at least twice a month. Great spot and awesome service
great food, big portions. The employees were great. Prices were reasonable.
(DON'T order with doordash specifically. doordash doesn't pay restaurants in full and doordash is consistently ALWAYS late without fail.)I'm feeling like the spiciness of Kwan's Phö made me so happy, I feel it may have temporarily cured my depression. They consistently have the best fresh food for their customers and are always respectful of order requests. By far my Favorite Restaurant to go to. Their Phö feels like a nice socially-distanced hug; AMAZING comfort food and always good service.
The food here is delicious. Ordered take out last week and was amazed at how fresh and tasty it was. I'm in love with the cream cheese wontons (both types), tofu fried rice (so good) and the tofu chop suey. Large portions end up providing 2-3 meals for myself and my friend. Will definitely be ordering from here again.
I have been ordering from this neighborhood asian restaurant for 20 yrs plus. I order take-out 98% of the time as I live in the neighborhood. Given that, and my desire to "test/experiment" with other Asian restaurants within a 10 mile radius, KWAN'S has by far been the most consistent quality in FOOD TASTE/GOOD SERVICE/VALUE & PROPORTIONS, WELCOMING/APPRECIATION, AND REPARATION (should that ever rarely even happen ?) Anyone not willing to try this place per quality and given cost, is missing out in my personal opinion. DO NOT come here if you are looking for a "romantic dinner" setting. This is exclusively a great non-fancy high quality lunch/dinner place
We live in the neighborhood and are regular takeout customers of Kwan's. We're creatures of habit I guess, and know what we like. We always get one order of Chicken with Broccoli along with the Fried Pork Dumplings appetizer. Both are great. The Chicken with Broccoli is a generous portion with lots of broccoli that's cut in a nice way, very easy to eat and done just right. It's not easy to find takeout food that has a good, tasty & LARGE portion of veggies! The dumplings are very good too. OK, we're seniors, but sharing one entree plus the dumplings is plenty for us. Cost last night was just 17 bucks! (+ optional tip). Staff are always friendly and helpful too. A hidden gem!!

Pho was great! General tso chicken was soggy and tasteless.
I like the food here. good stuff always fast always good
some of my favorite food in South Minneapolis. The Pho is incredible, so is the sweet and sour pork. the special cream cheese wontons are the best I've had! absolutely love this place!!!!
Not impressed. I ordered the combination plate with General Tao's, chicken fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken was the best part of my meal. The rice was bland. And the egg roll was the worst I've had. I'm really surprised by all the good ratings.
Don't use the online order form bc you'll pay extra for every item.Gen tso tastes like coconut chicken (no spice), egg foo young was a mushy texture and fell apart (see pics of me trying to pick one up with my fork). S&S chicken was just ok.Sign on the window says they need a cook, so maybe this is a temporary issue.
