Been here several times. It's a hidden gem in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood. Everything we have had has been delicious! Start with a pisco sour and ceviche!

I was excited to check out this neighborhood spot, but left a bit disappointed. The portions were quite lacking. I shouldn’t leave hungry after eating a $26 entree. It’s redeeming quality is the patio. Nice lighting and tree covering. This would be a great spot to stop by for a quick drink and then go get dinner elsewhere.

Food is very good. The chef puts his heart and soul in it! The hostess hasn't been that friendly, and it's a nice neighborhood spot.

The food was good but a little muted. The timing and pace of service was slow. Overall, they are not quite up to their price points, but drinks are good and the double garage door patio will be nice in the Summer.

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately my experience was deeply disappointing.

This was my second time visiting. The first time, I came with my dad—the food was solid, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed with only two servers working the entire restaurant. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, hoping it was just a rough day.

Today, I came with a friend and was excited to show her this spot. Same issue—only two servers, both visibly overwhelmed. It took a long time just to get our entrĂ©e orders in, though the guac and queso came out fairly quickly. I even told our server I felt for her, and that it was unfair she was left to handle so much. She looked like she was fighting back tears, and it was heartbreaking.

When our food finally arrived, it was cold. I politely asked to speak with the manager—who I later found out is actually the owner of the restaurant. I asked why they were so consistently understaffed, since this was now the second time I’d experienced this.

Her response? She told me it was “none of my concern.” I was shocked. I wasn’t attacking her—I was trying to give honest feedback about how the understaffing was affecting both guests and staff. Instead of hearing that, she got defensive and told me she should have waited to seat us (she had been working the host stand too).

She offered to remake the tacos, but they came back even colder than before. The entire experience felt chaotic and poorly managed—and not because the servers weren’t doing their jobs, but because they were being set up to fail.

Eventually, she asked if I wanted the tacos taken off the bill, which I appreciated—but by then, the damage was done.

The staff are clearly trying their best, but the way this place is run makes it hard to enjoy. Until the owner takes responsibility and invests in proper staffing and support, I can’t recommend this place—no matter how much potential it has.

Overall, decent. The portions were rather small for the price. I ended up ordering more food because I was still hungry after my first plate. The chicken tacos were really good. The llapingachos and platanos con queso were also yummy.

My wife and I have been to La Mesa a handful of times and have never been disappointed( including our second date, its a great date spot). La mesa is a hidden gem tucked away in the neighborhood with a great outdoor space in the summer. In my opinion, they have some of the best pizza in the city The corn pizza is my favorite and the weekly special last week was slow roasted pork and chimichurri sauce which was delicious. Great place, good service, and nice atmosphere and would recommend to anyone looking for a fun date night or something different than a bar and grill. I just recommend to a co worker and she really enjoyed it!
