We were visiting from VT for the World Cup and we so psyched to find this restaurant walking distance from where we were staying. It was so good that we came back the next night and got takeout for our last!! Best fish tacos I have ever had! Ecuadoran vegetable plate was delicious and the cauliflower soup was fabulous. We never had room for dessert but got the panne cotta to go and it was amazing!

A super cute place tucked into the Bryn Mawr neighborhood! The drinks weren’t overly complicated but wonderfully mixed, we especially loved the Andean Sour. The food was delicious and beautifully plated and our server Autumn was an absolute delight!Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options!

Great food, love the pisco sours. Bit more expensive than I thought. 8% service charge left a sour taste; I just want to eat, not feel grifted.

The food is really tasty, albeit small portions for the price. Service is great. Wanted to share it's not super kid friendly for young kids. While it has a good kids menu, the bathroom doesn't have a changing table and when our kids were dancing to the live music we were asked to stop them because of a licensing issue. Anyway, great spot for a date night, maybe not for energetic little kids.

Our first time at this gem tucked in Bryn Mawr neighborhood. Six of us enjoyed appetizers, drinks, entrees and desserts. I am not generally inclined to give 5 stars, but they deserve the 5. Excellent food, beautiful presentations, friendly fast service, warm atmosphere and definitely going back.

My family and I ate at La Mesa a few times pre-Covid. I found the menu to be limited and was not blown away by the food. My wife and I went last night and it was outstanding; they have greatly improved. There are far more choices on the menu, the food, service were excellent and as always, La Mesa is one of the coziest, most pleasant spots in town. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful dinner celebrating our daughter and son-in-law's birthdays. Delicious food, lovely waitress, and great live music. A memorable evening. Looking forward to a return visit! We had hornados, the winter salad and the burger from the specials menu. All were delicious. We shared the 3 desserts which were all beautifully plated and delightful - complete with candles for the birthday couple.

Located in Bryn Mawr, this is a Latin American-inspired cozy little place about 6 minutes from downtown Mpls. After 4 enjoyable visits, I'd rate the food as very good. Highlights include the queso fundito (spend the 2 bucks and add chorizo), Llapingachos (potato cakes), roasted olives (fantastic), pork tacos, slow-roasted pork and the pepperoni pizza. The Bryn Mawr burger was tasty but hard to eat. After it was sliced in half, the onions and all just slid off the burger. We found the guacamole just okay lacking any kick. The service is routinely awesome - friendly and attentive. Didn't test the bar yet, but La Mesa sells some good local beer. Nothing on the menu sells for over $30, so all-in-all, this place feels like we've found a hidden gem. Don't tell anyone.

LOVE this place. I eat here once a month and have NEVER had one thing I didn’t love. Appetizers, pizzas, mains, drinks and desserts - all fabulous!!!! Service and servers are amazing.

Sad to see some bad reviews on here, as we've had nothing but a wonderful experience. We live in the neighbor and frequent La Mesa 1-2/month and whenever we have guests visit we make sure to bring them along. Everyone has always loved the food and the staff are wonderful. For those leaving bad reviews about the hostess, not getting a table, or having to wait, this is a small establishment with only a few cooks on hand. I don't believe they ever turn people way to be rude, but simply because they are trying to ensure their staff isn't overwhelmed and that they can prepare high quality food. If you make a reservation (online or by phone) you will have no problems!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friendly!

I live in the neighborhood and was excited to have a sit down restaurant within walking distance! After an initial uncomfortable encounter with the hostess I decided to give La Mesa three more tries, which leads me to this unfortunate review.Every server I have had has been great, but with average food and unbearably rude hostess I won’t be subjecting myself to giving it a 5th try. Truly hope these experiences are unique to me as I’d like nothing more than to see businesses succeed in the neighborhood.

The owner/hostess was very rude and unwelcoming when we said we didn't have a reservation. We arrived right as they opened and during our time there only three other tables were occupied so her behavior regarding a reservation seemed a bit over the top. The food was just ok and thankfully our server was delightful. A bit expensive for the small serving size. Glad I tried it but won't make an effort to return.
