Startlingly bad coffee…poured it out. Not sure if this was an odd day or something but it was not drinkable. Nice folks and space though.

The coffee here was fantastic! Delicious and piping hot. The staff were so kind and welcoming! We got a few drinks to go and they were quickly ready. We would love to come back and spend some time in the cozy space!

Coffee shops make me sort of anxious because I can't have caffeine of any kind and decaf just tastes odd, but the lady working the counter was very kind and helped me find a really nice seasonal tea that was amazing, and even though she was just doing her job it meant a lot to me. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly people and great coffee. The banana bread wasn’t heated all the way through and didn’t blow us away. And having to ask for a key to go to the bathroom is never fun. Nonetheless it’s an awesome place!

I have a history with this place. The employees are wonderful, they have free wifi, it's in a great location and it's the coziest coffee shop I have ever been to.

The servers were very attentive and friendly. It is a very convenient spot if you are biking, hiking etc. The coffee wasn't great. We had a Carmel frap and light roast. We didn't finish either of them. Frap was really icy and coffee tasted a little old. Maybe they put it in the same containers. The breakfast sandwich was pretty solid There are some great seats outside. I would skip this place and find another local shop.

Nice spot to meet and enjoy some conversation. Large outdoor patio. Just ordered a black coffee it was light roasted Ethiopian I think. Didn't stand up well to the flavors of the potato hand pie. That was served warmed up but still cold in the middle.

I really enjoy this coffee shop, the customer service is great, the location next to the river is amazing. I regularly come here to work on classes and job applications. I would highly recommend it to any as study spot or a place to work remotely.

The hand pies are delicious. But I would really appreciate a couple of basic sandwich options. My thoughts would be like a basic plastic wrapped turkey sandwich with cheese lettuce and tomato, offered from the cooler. That is just one example salads or other options in a similar vein that could fill in for a lunch meal.

I’ve been frequenting this gem of a coffee shop since it opened almost 10 years ago. Although, it’s gone through many transformations since then. The latest transformation, Loons Coffee, is certainly the best reincarnation.

In fact, since I broke my foot over two months ago it has become my go-to place for MT (mental/mocha therapy). I also go to PT but that’s a different story.

Loons has great ambiance, with an adjoining restaurant and gift shop, and a scenic location next to the Mississippi River on Lake Street near the Minneapolis Rowing Club. There is also a walking trail on the river that, unfortunately, I can’t use now. The trail meanders by a beautiful white sand beach with a view of the U of M and downtown Minneapolis. Above the river is a walking/bike trail stretching for miles that I can’t use either. But, there is a convenient parking lot next to Loons with handicap parking and only 25 steps to Loons front door… I can hobble this far.

Although Loons has only been opened a relatively short time, it has the most savy management. They are consistently brewing a great blend of Ethiopian coffee… their signature coffee (a local favorite); stocking delicious bakery items as well sandwiches, patties, fruits and salads; developing a closer relationship with the Longfellow Grill for their customers’ convenience. Like all service industries since Covid, they may have had a few staffing problems. But, they are making sure their core staff are friendly and helpful.

Check it out!

Parking: Available except maybe not during lunch hour.

Wheelchair accessibility: One handicap spot for about 20 cars.
