Underseasoned and greasy fish, really bland coleslaw. Fries were pretty decent.

The food was decent, I had the walleye. I really wish they seasoned their fish and fries it was very bland. My favorite was the cheese curds, so delicious.

We had 2 #2s with halibut and cod. You can easily get one meal and share the fries rather than 2.The halibut was better than the cod. A local competitor would have better cod IMHO.Decent value for the cost. The squeaky, squealing half doors are atrocious. They need to throw some of the fryer oil on the hinges or something.

Best fish I’ve had in the cities. I’ve gone the last 2 days in a row and it was amazing. The second day I picked up it was a little soggy, when I got home I popped it in the microwave oven for a couple minutes on 450Degrees and it crisped right up. So so good

After growing up on the shore of New England, I have a very high standard for my fried seafood. The Midwest experience has always had the potential to be even better with the contribution of readily available walleye. Unfortunately, most restaurants try to "upscale" the experience with spices and/or local craft beer added to their batter. Inevitably, this usually means that it is served with too much much of that breading, completely obliterating the contribution of the flavourful walleye.Mac's is the only place that does it perfectly. Their batter is very tasty but doesn't overwhelm. The same applies to their housemade malt vinegar. You are only cheating yourself if you don't add a few splashes of their (rosemary?) malt vinegar. Also, if you have lived around walleye and want to change things up, you can actually choose between 3 or 4 different fish options. The halibut is just slightly more expensive than the walleye and is another great tasting option. But this place doesn't just end with their signature fish and chips. I usually get a single piece of fish and a small order of fried clam strips. Each is on the large side, so I still can't finish it all, but I also can't bring myself to choose just the fish or just the clams. My only wish is that they offered the choice of belly-on clams or strips or a mixed batch. Then I could close my eyes and think back to the cooler end of season days on the beaches of Rhode Island, cuddling with the girl that you met just that summer. And finally, get some salt water taffy! Sometimes they are out or they may be hidden behind the counter, so ask for them even if you won't see them. I forget the exact price, but they are well worth it. You end up with a good sized bag of them, so they are a great treat even for larger families.Parking: Their parking lot only has a few spots so you will probably end up with street parking on the short street that runs parallel to Lyndale.

Mac’s has been my go-to in recent years for Friday night fish & chips. Normally it’s great - I always get the halibut and jalapeño lime sauce. But the last couple times the fish and French fries were underdone. I even requested the fries be cooked extra crispy but they came out soggy. Maybe it’s just an anomaly but I hope they turn it around.

Best fried fish I've had. The cod and walleye are good but once you try the halibut, you'll never go back. The hand cut fries are good and the cheese curds are great. If you sign up for their customer loyalty program, you get great coupons every week pretty much for things like free cheese curds, 15% off, 23% off, or other free items....or $5 off your order. It's really a great program and I use those coupons every time I go. Pro Tip: The lime tartar sauce is much better than the regular tartar sauce.
